My Grandmother says that back in the 1950's the one time you were encouraged to get fat as you wanted was when you were pregnant. She also says there was an unspoken 2 year rule where you were allowed 2 years to lose the baby weight gain before the other women would "talk about you." LOL. I cant imagine caring what the other women in my neighborhood had to say about me or my weight but evidently it was a thing, a concern back then.
My entire city is zoned to allow urban farming and I want a couple chickens so badly. I have a tiny yard, so finding a space has been the challenge. It's a project down the to-do list for now. Living in a 100 year old house brings forward a few more infrastructure projects first.
Kristina I loved this Q & A, you are such a natural in front of the camera and full to the brim with wise commonsense. Your kids are so fortunate to have such a beautiful caring mum. Oh your life sounds fascinating! I'm doing my best not to let what I love slide, because I know it encourages people around me -- including my husband and kids!
As a mom of an only child my daughter is a kindergartner and I homeschool her and we are together so much but she has learned to entertain herself and does it wonderfully, because there are times where I need time for myself too, she seems to really enjoy the times that she has to herself as well we also have two dogs she enjoys playing with, it’s not exactly the same but it’s better than nothing and I think pets bring great joy to families as well. She has church friends and we get together, I noticed that older kids get along with her and vice versa. Some kids do great with or without siblings.
This is my favorite kinda video, I like getting to know more about you! You seem like the sweetest person and mama! ... Currently, I only have half as many children as you, but bedtime and an appropriate amount of sleep is absolutely the cornerstone of our day. I feel ya!
I'm so glad! I've had a few people say they like the long chatty videos, which makes me happy because I am a storyteller even when I'm just answering questions, apparently. HA! I had to cut a lot out just to make it under 30 minutes!
Loved watching the video. I added sheer white curtains to my own closet. It creates a neat backdrop for photos and videos. My husband and I bought a nice curtain rod and placed long sheer curtains to create a huge window effect. I love it because it kind of hides my clothes but is easily pushed to the side for easy access to everything, I actually did this to my kids closets as well. We got rid of all the closet doors and replaced them with pretty sheer curtains. The boys decor is red, white and black so I bought them black sheer curtains.
I need to do this! Our closets used to have doors but someone took them off, and I HATE the way closet doors look. I just haven't gotten my butt in gear to add anything yet, lol.
Thank you for the tips - sounds like I need to make better friends with my curling iron and maybe up my scarf game as well! Thanks also for the thoughts on mothering and creativity; a lot of that resonated with me as wel. Finally - what a great natural eye shadow look, I would never have guessed it had that many layers - I for one would welcome a makeup tutorial. 😊
Scarves are the BEST for busy mom days! And if you don't want to utilize a curling iron, a really great vintage way to wear a headscarf is simply parting your hair in the middle and smoothing it back, then tying a headscarf on. SUPER easy. I need to do an updated makeup routine, it's on my list!
Loved this video! I enjoyed the chatty info, and the wisdom shared. It is SO important to remember that we, as women, need to choose to take care of ourselves , too! Beautiful, as always! Blessings and congratulations on over 7K followers! Well done, and deserved!

It's Kokie Beauty foundation -- nothing special! I do only put it over blemishes, and I don't add any extra powder because I don't like overly done skin. It works, but it does start flaking off at the end of the day (although that could be my skin, which is very dry)
I was just amazed that you covered up your gorgeous rosie cheeked complexion, only to add color back! What's the point in that? Your beautiful, let it shine through. LOL it's because I have hormonal acne; I only put foundation on where there are breakouts. Plus, putting foundation on and then adding back blush gives you more control on where you want it. For instance, I like having blush on my nose which is not something that occurs naturally. ;) I am sorry that you felt like you were letting people down because of weight! I'm glad that it's being discovered and proven more and more that bodies can be healthy at many sizes and not just the traditional "thin is better" view.
