Another fantastic video guys, love the vulture shots and the castle. We're looking forward to setting off travelling again once Dione is back from her family visit to the Srates (next Sunday, yippee). Good luck with Daisy, hope she's ok 👍😁✌️
Ah cheers Chris, good to hear you'll be back together soon and off travelling 😁 Not so fun in the UK in winter but we make the best of it 🙈 Hope you've both been well, and yes Daisy got sorted in the end, it was just a right faff getting there! Take care guys ❤️
19:59 That's a dingleberry, they're a protected species of berry that only grows in certain parts of Spain. It's illegal to pick them as wildlife that is exclusive to the same parts have long survived solely on the berries. If caught picking them, people can expect custodial sentences of up to 25 years in a cárcel or prisión.
That's an awfully long time in a prison for picking a berry 😂 But I think dingleberries are slightly different, this one seems to be an arbutus berry? They look more like lychees. Used in liquors apparently as they're quite tart!
It's arbutus or strawberry tree, not so uncommon in some parts of Spain , for example on the coat of arms of Madrid are a bear and an arbutus. Bears only remain in northern Spain now but arbutus are more spread.
Another stonking video! You've sold me on Spain. Extremadura looks amazing! I quite like the pub walk and wee idea. But in an iberico region I would try wine and ham I guess. 😅 Had to Google the berry and found it's called madroño or strawberry fruit in English. Apparently only similar in name, not flavor. Madroño seem to taste similar to lychees. So many cool things to see. Would love to see wild vultures. It would be a nightmare to break down under those birds. 😂 I do hope you manage to get Daisy back on track. Cheers (with some glögg) from Skåne! ❤
Good evening, and thank you kindly 😍 This part of Spain felt very special, I wish we'd got to see more of it really as other towns and national parks sounded just as good. The vultures were a real moment; not birds we're familiar with in the UK, but in this park it was like they ruled the wilderness and the mountain was their castle 😍 Never thought we'd be happy to be circled by vultures 😂 Ah the fruit! Ridiculously we forgot all about it until putting this video together, and even then I still forgot to google it. Apparently not so tasty on its own, which is a shame as it looks like a little sweet treat. We'd have to seek out the liquor it's made into. Thank you, Daisy got there in the end after several deadends 🙏 And ooh, how we fancy some glögg right now. Christmas has bypassed us somewhat, maybe we'll find the festive spirit on our return. Take care and have a good week ❤️
Morning Mattias 😍 Thank you ❤️ Yes it is far more than just beaches, in fact I think in our two trips here we have much preferred exploring the inland towns and villages than the coast. You have a good week too ❤️
FFS the funniest thing on UA-cam. Champagne Cork in your waste water and steve with cement on one trainer pissed our selves laughing. Well done guys please keep up the videos can't wait till next week x
Ah thanks so much, glad it have you a laugh 😁 The champagne cork never fails to crack me up (and how it fits and does the job so well). God the cement, I wish we'd been filming when he went in, that was quite a scene 😂 We were worried his foot would set so a mad dash was required to clean it 😆 Cheers and see you on the next one ❤️
Hello, thank you and glad you enjoyed the video 😍 We really loved this part of Spain, a shame we had to leave it so soon. Spoiler alert, Daisy is okay, but it was hard work getting there! See you next week 😁
Another lovely video guys. Made my stomach churn a little at top of those hills. Lovely views though. Shame out the gears. Hopefully all is good by now ❤
Morning Paul 😁 Yeah it was quite high in places, but the drops weren't too drastic. All worth it for the pretty views though. Gears are all sorted now after some fun and games to get there 🙈 Thank you and hope you've been okay in the awful storm! 🙏❤️
Yeah. We seemed to be on the edge of the red warning. Just inside the amber warning area. So seemed to have missed the worst of it. Thankfully. A few tress down but nothing major. Thankfully. Glad you manage to sort the gears out. Have fun x
Well I'm glad you're okay 🙏 I always forget how rough it gets in the UK sometimes over winter, which is dumb given we experience it every year. If we ever settle down again we have tried to factor that into our decision making; unfortunately it happens everywhere except the south east it seems and that's the most expensive place to live 😂 Never mind. We've got our little van for now. Take care Paul ❤️
Great company good beer, stunning locations and just enjoying mother nature. I've really enjoyed this video thank you for sharing & I hope your gear linkage doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get fixed. 😊
Thank you Annie! Glad you enjoyed the mix of stuff 😍 We really loved this part of Spain, it was a pleasure to explore. The gear linkage wasn't too horrible in the end, but it took a while getting there🤦♂️
Both beards coming along nicely - well done, keep going. Stephen looking ever better with the weight loss, belly's almost gone and thighs a lot slimmer. Great stuff.
Good Morning to you, thank you kindly, I (Dan) have enjoyed having a beard for once, though it does need taming. Stephen unfortunately trimmed his a bit wrong recently, so he drastically shaved the lot off 🙈 I kind of miss it 😂 But he'll probably grow it back to an extent. Stephen is looking great, thank you. Though he will be the first to admit the exercise has fallen by the way side in the last couple of weeks, but with the return to the UK looming, I've no doubt he'll get back on track again, although it is much harder to motivate yourself in the wet and cold 😬🙈 I hope you're well, especially with the current weather back there!
@comealongdear pity about Stephens beard. Yes, start over. Yes well thanks, but yes difficult to keep motivated. I do a workout in front room, or go for a walk.
I guess it is a problem when your house is also your vehicle. I hope you find a good garage. Getting car parts in Spain was always expensive so hope you managed to get it fixed reasonably. What a beautiful part of Spain. Xx
Hi Denise, thank you 🥰 Yes a home (as small and old as ours especially, with us two idiots running it 🤪) that moves with you does come with constant worries and hiccups. We did get it sorted, Stephen thought we were overcharged, but it wasn't that bad (about £120, although the fix wasn't complicated and the part was cheap...), probably cost a bit more because it was an official VW garage. But all is well, as you'll see next week (Hopefully you'll still watch even though I've given it away now 😂).
Ah excellent, have a good time in the UK! (and make sure to cram in as many things you miss about the UK, e.g chips etc, that you can before going back 😁)
Good morning fellas, great to see you again. You certainly are taking us to some amazing places - the town looked really interesting as was the National Park. Some great views from both of them. It’s also nice to see some of the countryside that you drive through, so thanks for showing that. What a pain having to go in a bar for a beer and tapas 😋so you can use the loos 😉 - some good marketing there methinks 😀. Well done for the footage of the vultures. You may have been parked up on a service station car park, but who cares when you have all the services you need AND a restaurant serving great food - the first thing I noticed about it though at the beginning, was the blue sky and sunshine. Such a rare commodity here atm. I hope you manage to get Daisy sorted without it costing too much 🤞. I love seeing how appreciative and enthusiastic you are about what you see/experience on your travels. Stay well and wishing you safe, trouble-free travels. ❤️❤️
Good Morning Irene 🥰 Thank you for the lovely comment, it's always good to take you along with us to these places 🤗 We loved this part of Spain - less people, open spaces, but just as much wonderful stuff to see as you'll find anywhere else in the country. I'm really glad we gave it a go. Haha the toilet trauma was very real 😂 But hey, if that means we have to go into a bar for drink and tapas, maybe it's worth it 🤪 We have realised now though that almost all fuel garages have toilets in Spain - which I don't think most little "regular" ones do in the UK, maybe thats wrong though. If the van was closer, we'd have just nipped back to that. The vultures were quite an emotional sight - such breathtaking birds, and the sound of their wings was so captivating. I'm so pleased we got the chance to experience it, and in that gorgeous valley too 😍 The sunshine was fab, and definitely a reason to be in Spain over winter, though I will say it gets surprisingly cold in the middle of the country, so it did fluctuate a lot. But none of that horrid UK damp (well mostly not!). Daisy was okay in the end but it wasn't much fun trying to get it sorted at all 😬 This always happens when we're abroad 😂 Anyway hope you're well and I do hope Storm Darragh hasn't hit you too hard 😧 Take care and stay safe ❤️
@ Glad to hear about Daisy. Re the loos, given a choice, I’d always choose a bar and take the hit with the beer 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Darragh didn’t affect us too much - strong winds and heavy rain but no worse than we often get here. Stay well, stay safe. ❤️❤️
Oh it's always got to be a bar and a beer, better than public toilets anyway 😂 Glad you've been okay. Yes, with these warnings and storm names, you never know if it's going to be catastrophic or just your regular UK weather sometimes. Take care ❤️
Hi guys, you really have the knack for finding some hidden gems whilst winging it day to day!. I feel your pain re finding toilets when out and about! My rule is find a bar, have a wee on arrival, and then force another one before we leave because you can guarantee I will need another one in an hours time - Its an age thing 😅! We left Corfu this week and have now moved on to Cyprus and will be here, halfway up a mountain near Paphos until just after Christmas. I hope the repair doesn't end up being too much hassle and cash to sort! xx
Hey guys, thank you, deciding to go to these places on a whim always works best for us we find, there's no pressure that way and it means we don't have to outline entire routes - which inevitably have to be altered anyway. This whole area of Extremadura feels like a hidden gem though, it was so beautiful and much quieter than other areas. Haha that's a good plan of action for scheduling your wees in the bars 😂 I'd put mine down to an age thing too, but I feel like I've always had the bladder of an elderly woman since I was a kid, I go so often! 🙈 Hope everything went well in Corfu, and you've settled in Cyprus OK. Sounds absolutely lovely and what a great place to spend Christmas! Take care guys ❤️
I went to visit a friend in a village in the middle of nowhere a few years ago. He had a beautiful villa that he'd done up over some time. Anyway, he wasn't very well off and he took me to this service station where they had a canteen, and it was amazing. Comfort food, properly cooked, with wine in a vending machine.......it was sooooooo effing cheap! Spain is lovely, but where he lived was just fly and mosquito central. It was stressful trying to eat outside whilst there were swarms of flies everywhere. It was beautiful, not far from Sitges - Vila-rodona.
Aaah that sounds wonderful (apart from the biting insects of course 😬). Is he still out there? and yes that sounds exactly like the experience we had! 3 courses, all that wine, bread, all for £13 each, and that wasn't even one of the cheapest ones. The soup didn't look like much, but I loved it - Castilian soup, I will one day attempt to make it! Can't beat a wine vending machine either 😂
No, he was at breaking point financially due to the crash. He managed to sell the villa and land to a cash buyer and he moved back to the U.K. It was a shame, but when you live in a remote place and you’re getting older living alone, things start to become more challenging. He broke his arm cleaning his swimming pool and realised just how vulnerable he was living alone. He was a miserable old git, but other than his moaning, we did end up having a nice time. We went to bears week in sitges a couple of nights and that’s something I’m in no rush to do again. It’s like de ja vu every night. What’s gong on with Steve’s neck beard? Get the clippers out Steve, it’s time to trim that hedge back!
Oh no, sorry to hear that. It sounds like he made the right decision though and I guess he lived the experience for a while. I often think this when I see people settle down in isolated homes, even in Scotland or Wales. I'm sure it's lovely when everything is fine and you can get about, but you soon realise how vulnerable you are, especially when getting older. We are not city people at all, but I think on the cusp of a quiet town would suit us for balance. Haha bears week, never been to anything like it, but I can only imagine 😂 Don't mind a bear or two though 😜 Ah I love Steve's beard, it just needed shaping I think 😁 However, he recently had to get rid of the lot as he "overshaved" so it's taken leave for the time being 🤪
Once again some great scenery. You know how to pick the best places. You kept me company while I ate my one pot breakfast, onion, Quorn mince, Spanish Good Grains, and spinach. Don't go overboard with the beers, or you will undo all the good workouts. Raining here by the way. Stay where you are for a bit longer. ilona
Afternoon Ilona, you have won my heart with that breakfast! That sounds delectable and right up my street - I am always buying those Spanish good grains and eating them with all sorts of things. Yes, we have been rather indulgent with beers and treats, and well, it gets worse before it gets better 🙈 But we'll be right on track again in no time (he says, with Christmas coming up...). Hope you've been okay in the awful weather, stay safe ❤️
Thank you ❤️ Haha no definitely not missing the UK, and looks like we escaped some horrid weather there too. We're so happy we chose to drive down this way, it's such a pretty part of Spain and less known than most other places. We won't be here much longer - we have to head back to do some work over Christmas, but the videos will continue until the first week of January as we try to stack them up in advance, to cover when we're at work etc. We sometimes film 2 in a week for example.
@@comealongdear Thats good i will be able to binge watch 😂😂 yes, we're having rubbish weather here, its been horrendous, most of the slates have fallen offthe roof, im dreading the costs caused by the aftermath of the storms. I love your recepies im watching you make pasta at the moment.. Pafali. Lol the bow pasta 😂
Oh no, that's awful, hopefully it doesn't cost too much for you 😟 At least you're not hurt. But that is the thing with these storms, the havoc they cause, physically and financially. Fingers crossed it won't be too bad for you 🤞 Aah I'm glad you like the cooking, we're not very inventive I know, but it's just a bit of fun. Loved the bow pasta, will have to get some again soon 😁
The fruit looks like an Arbutus berry, also known as a Medronho fruit in Portugal from the strawberry tree. They use it to make a fruit brandy and is very well known.👍❤️
Lovely part of Spain Dan and Steve, I really enjoyed watching you two having a drink with nibbles, sorry daisy is not well hopefully it's nothing serious and won't cost an arm and a leg, best of luck to you two and thanks again for another great video
Morning Michael 🥰 Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video again 😍 It was really good fun going out in Cáceres, a beautiful old town and very relaxed to be in. We did get Daisy sorted, which you'll see next week, but it was a bit of a mission getting there 🙈 Anyway, hope you're well and lovely to hear from you ❤️
@comealongdear 0 I'm very pleased to hear Daisy is all good again, sadly I've got a chest infection and it's just not nice, coughing snifflng the usual, but it's always lovely to see you both chatting nibbling drinking and pottering around
Oh no sorry to hear that Michael, the peril of the season sadly. I expect we'll be prone to it too on our return with the change in air, atmosphere and temperature. Get well soon and rest up ❤️
Ooh really? Thank you for that! 😍 Drunk on fruit, they sound just right for us 😂 I've just googled those drinks, so the fruits are arbutus berries - what a shame we didn't know so we could have tried them. Thank you ❤️
Howdy Boys!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! What a beautiful city!!!! Better to have to wee in the street rather than in your pants!! LOL! That's the bad thing about beer, you only rent it! Drink an entire six pack without having to go, but after than you can't get through an entire beer without having to wee again! You're rocking that beard!! Big bear hugs from Kenny in Ohio, USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Howdy Kenny! 🥰 Haha, well funnily enough it does feel like you see people peeing in the street a lot more regularly in Spain we've noticed...I think now we know why 😂 The city was indeed beautiful, we feel lucky to have experienced it 🙏 Thank you for the beard compliment, it does make a nice change and will come in handy for the grim UK winter 😀 Thank you Kenny, I hope you're well 😊
16 euros is a tad on the expensive side for extremadura, try and take in the beautiful city of Caceres love that City we always stop over there on our travels. Love Extremadura the great undiscovered heart of Spain long May it remain undiscovered. I believe that the only place in Europe where you can see a mongoose is in the Donna a National Park near the beautiful city of Huelva. Enjoy your travels and make many happy memories.
Hi David, thank you for your great suggestions for Extremadura 🙏 We did of course go to Cáceres in this very video and had a blast. So so beautiful especially the old part within the walls. Yes 16 euros was pricier than some places in Extremadura (still a bargain though!), it just happened to be where we were parked at the time and fancied it. It does feel quieter here and while people like us are of course showing it off a bit (not that we're a big channel), I still think it will remain that way due to its location and most tourists flocking to the coasts. Interesting about the mongoose! Would love to see one in the wild 😍 Thank you and have a good week❤️
@comealongdear many thanks for your reply, you both seem to be enjoying the adventure and we look forward to more of your blogs, the vultures looked spectacular, warm regards David
Thank you David, yes the vultures were unbelievable, the footage didn't do it justice as I couldn't catch them quickly enough most of the time, but they flew so close 😍
You are so right Extremadura is so ignored, embarrassing also by us! Cant believe youve never done a menu del dia. Eat like a king for a few euros. As for needing a wee, we dont exactly know the rules, but having a wee behind a bush (or sometimes behind nothing) is a common site away from the tourist areas. I (Darren) have never been brave enough, but apparently nobody would have turned a blind eye if had found yourself a bush. The architecture reminds me of Portugal more than Spain especially the white church tower which i suppose is understandable considering how close you are. Was a little shocked to see so much moss was on the rocks along that hike! It does suggest the area has a lot of rain. Castles on top of hills! Trust us, after exploring 17 countries in the last year they all do it and not one of them thought about building a lift 😂 Much Love Darren and Alison 🤟♥️
Hey guys! Definitely not embarrassing not to have gone there, it's a funny region to get to and easily missed when all those other beauties circle it, including Portugal. We think you'd love it though, especially Cáceres. Yes menu del dia is a wonder to us now, how we will miss that in the UK! The moss really surprised us too, especially when you consider how dry the area looked from above and the lower river etc. I wonder if it's just a side of the hill that doesn't get the sun so much. Weeing in the street 😂 Yep we've seen a few Spanish people do it in extremely public places, and really I can't blame them! Luckily we haven't had to yet but we would as a last resort. Take care guys, and enjoy and savour all those exciting and sunny destinations over winter! Much love ❤️ 🤟
Gearbox..... have you sorted it yet ? Standing at the front of your van with the bonnet up, on the RH side on top of the gearbox you may find the gear selector shaft (one of you inside wiggling the gear stick and the other looking under the bonett) ther is a linkage that has two hollow ball type joints. If one or both have any free play in them this would stop the linkage moving the shaft moving far enough to change gear, this could be your problem ....
Hi David, thanks for the knowledgeable insight, it's appreciated! We did indeed get her sorted (eventually) and it was exactly the problem you were saying. So we got that replaced. Everything's been fine since. We are no mechanics, but we did notice what you were describing and thought the parts holding the ball had worn away. Thank god we investigated, because it made the job of trying to translate and explain the problem in Spanish a lot less painful 😂🤦♂️ Cheers for the advice 👍
I hope you got that gear change linkage sorted without breaking the bank, poor old Daisy. How many miles has she done all up? Is Steve mechanically sympathetic ? When she starts moaning do you slow down. I wonder why there are so many vultures in that one spot? No reports of missing tourists? The bar owners have the wee situation sussed, they know you will come in for a wee and then have another beer. Instagram has been offline here for days, I am trying bluesky, a nice Zuckerberg free zone. I hope you manage to stay safe and satisfied. 🤪
Good Morning Down Under, or whatever time it is there, presumably evening of some description. Yes Stephen is very careful, as soon as we have a problem we go slow and try to stop to get it sorted as quickly as possible. We did get her fixed - and (shockingly, for us) we did identify the problem correctly, but oh my, was it fun trying to get it done 🤦♂️ But it worked out, and not too costly. Wait, I'm spoiling next week. What a rubbish youtuber 😂 I think the vultures congregate because the geography suits them with those prominent cliff sides, and the fact it's so rural and open means they can scan for carrion quite easily I guess. Not something we have in the UK, so it was quite a magical sight to us. It does seem the sort of place where people would go missing never to be found though! The bars definitely have it sussed when it comes to beer loving Brits like us 🤪 Bluesky, it seems everyone is off to that, we will have to give it a go! Hope you're well and manage to get through another car ride from hell 🙈 Take care
Aah it's good that you could spot that! Interesting, I suppose gears in clocks have something at least sort of similar. But yes, that was indeed the problem and we did get it fixed without a huge cost. That'll be in next week's video, and it wasn't plain sailing, but we got there eventually 👍
Great to see this hidden Spain video. Glad you had a good beer and wee trip to that lovely old town, good to see you relaxing. The biosphere parc was incredible those amazing craggy rocks and vultures and lots of amazing walks. I keep meaning to say I love the music choices you have accompanying your travels, adds a poignant atmoshere to the beautiful places. Hope you get the gear stick sorted ok. Have a great Sunday and a safe enjoyable week ahead xx
Hi Susie, thank you and I hope everything's well for you in this dreaded UK weather right now 🙏 I really appreciate your comment on the music, I try to pick something fitting if possible for the location/mood, although sometimes I spend ages searching and can never find what I want 🤦♂️ But I'm pleased you like the choices, so thank you 🥰 The National Park was very special, spectacular scenery with those jagged rocks soaring upwards from the river valley below, and of course the vultures 😍 Not something we are familiar with in the UK, so it felt very special to witness them in flight, and in such great numbers. Daisy was fine in the end, it just took a while to get there 🙈 Thank you Susie, you have a great week too ❤️
@comealongdear Thank Dan. It's been a blustery and very wet two days and nights here by the sea, hopefully easing off soon. I admire you for doing your weekly videos and picking the music, a lot of work goes into it. I can tell. The scenery keeps on giving. Glad Daisy is ok now. Take care both, Fifis hoping for a 2nd lunch as she had an early one before we watched your video, maybe she can have a few dreamies like tacos for cats. Xx
I bet it has, well hopefully it'll pass by and leave a long enough gap this time before the next storm pops along! Aww bless Fifi, can't blame her for trying, I'm sure a few treats will be okay if she had lunch early; she watches our videos, so I think she's earned one or two 😂😉 Take care ❤️
I have enjoyed your video. However, I have no idea what part of Spain you were visiting as you made this video. Sorry, I am an American. It's been decades since I been outside the USA. It's not that I'm not interested in travel abroad but that I can't afford the cost. You Tube travelers like yourselves have thankfully allowed me to see landscapes in places far, far away. It's been lovely. I have really enjoyed it. Sometimes I get out the atlas or open Google maps to get to get a better understanding areas my UA-cam favorites are visiting. So, if you give me a hint as to where you are in your travels, perhaps even pull out a physical map and show me your travel I would be grateful. I enjoy the vibe. I have subscribed.
Hi Victoria 🥰 First of all, thank you for subscribing, we do appreciate that 🙏The wonders of youtube huh being able to see places we can't get to, not to mention any information you need about any subject. Really hard to imagine life before the internet now! I'm sorry you can't get abroad, it definitely isn't cheap to travel - the only reason we can is because of living in the van, but I doubt we can sustain it forever. There are other countries (like yours!) we'll probably never see either because of the cost. We're lucky in Europe that we have so many diverse countries and cultures that we can drive to without going thousands of miles from the UK. Point definitely taken about the map! I was thinking that myself that it would be good to insert a map or fancy graphic showing where we are occasionally. I just need to look into it, I'm sure there's a fancy site where you can do that. Or else I'll just screenshot our phone map 😁 Extremadura is western Spain, and hugs Portugal's border, so people often skip it as it's so far away from the coast. Anyway thanks for joining us and commenting, have a great week 😍
Aah thank you so much, we're glad you liked it 🥰 We love throwing in a mix of things if we can. Haha beards will always be marmite - even we will chop and change our minds, so they'll probably come and go 😁
@@comealongdear Marmite in your beard, what were you doing? I think full beards are sometimes associated with brutish men so are a turn-off for some? I worked with a bloke who liked a pie for lunch, I noticed a bit gristle fell into his beard, it was still there the next day! 😆
@tomcat7525 Well we love marmite, it's bound to get stuck in our winter hair faces I guess 🤪 Your comment nearly made me spill my (perfectly weak) tea 😂 Perhaps he was saving the gristle for later. Of course, we have also recently discovered the perils of food-ensnaring facial hair now 🤦♂️ Mostly sauces and stuff like that. A bit icky. I think beards are the perfect example of representing what people like or don't like in a man - what you describe, some people love. But equally facial hair (or any hair) is repulsive to some. I think we'll inevitably get bored, but I might keep mine through the UK winter 🥶
Maybe it is time to, slowly but surely, look for another van than Daisy...... Problems will show up more frequently eventually. Daisy has her age, spending 30+ years on the road. With love from the Netherlands ❤
Morning! 😁 This is a subject we talk about a lot. But we're not sure. We never intended to do this forever. We might eventually settle down with Daisy as our vehicle and just have "weekend" trips. Upgrading would be great, but cost wise I'm not sure we can do it. But, we don't know. You're right though, problems will always come up, such is life in a well-travelled matriarch like Daisy. Next year will be a big year for us in deciding what's next, I think ❤️
Aah the divisive topic of beards 😂 We quite like them really, although Stephen accidentally overshaved and had to get rid of his recently. I expect they'll come and go over the years, I might keep mine over winter though 😁
I have noticed a lot of the town scenes you are walking down deserted streets. Is that because the streets are mostly deserted, or is it because you edit the scenes out where you film people. ? I think if I won a fortune somehow I would like to buy you guys a new van. I can't help somehow feeling sorry for you with this van. You are probably sentimental about daisy, but you deserve an upgrade.
Hi Ashley, no we definitely don't edit people out, god knows how I'd even do that, not with my skills anyway 😂 You're right, we usually visit when it's quiet - this is more noticeable in Spain as the streets go REALLY quiet in the afternoon, so it's a great time to explore. But also if people are about, I usually wait for them to pass before filming that street where possible. Ah thank you, you know we do love Daisy, and she needs work, but something a bit more comfy would certainly be nice. Maybe one day ❤️
I love you guys, i love your travels, i love your photography. But your not Van Lifers. Your just two guys that live in a van with a mattress. Nothing else works. You cant even wash your hands before you prepare a meal. It gives me the shudders.
Hi Greg. I'm glad you like those aspects of our channel, but I get why you might feel that way about our living situation. I think "van life" is entirely subjective - we've lived in a van for 3 years, so I'd like to think that qualifies, however we go about it. Admittedly living in Daisy is a challenge with her space, and we are certainly not DIY experts, but we manage well enough, and this has still been the best 3 years of our lives. We do have a sink so we can wash our hands - not to mention we often park up near toilets, plus never underestimate the power of hand sanitiser 😉 We're in a van so it's never going to be as clean or easy as a house of course. We won't do this forever, that was never the plan, and if we settle down we'd like to continue the channel in some form if possible. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, good or bad, it's good to hear people's thoughts 👍
You can even get a bit drunk if you eat too many of those fruits. High alcohol spirits (above 50 degrees) is made in Portugal with it. “Aguardente de Medronho”
What gems you have found this week. 🤗
Hi ladies, aah thank you, it was amazing here, we are certainly going to miss Spain!

@andycosway1840 Thanks, I think so judging by the comments and googling it, also called an arbutus berry (unless that's different altogether)

The vultures were a real moment; not birds we're familiar with in the UK, but in this park it was like they ruled the wilderness and the mountain was their castle 😍 Never thought we'd be happy to be circled by vultures 😂
Ah the fruit!
What a wonderful place, it was a great surprise to see the nightlife, very unexpected. ❤
Thank you, it was indeed beautiful, we loved it in Cáceres 😍 A very enjoyable and safe-feeling place to go out.
Thank you for a lovely video! Hope everything goes well with your gear box. 😊
Thank you Catarina, it was a pleasure to film here and I'm glad you liked it 🥰 ❤️
Lovely video love watching you both
Thank you Lynda, glad you liked it ❤️
Good to see that you have a nice time in España. España is so much more than the beaches! Wish you the best week. 😀 btw... beautiful video 😀👍
Morning Mattias 😍 Thank you ❤️ Yes it is far more than just beaches, in fact I think in our two trips here we have much preferred exploring the inland towns and villages than the coast. You have a good week too ❤️
From the strawberry tree, (arbutus)edible but best left for the birds as it is sweet sour, tart and usually used in a liquor.
Thank you, a shame it's not as tasty as it looks! But we'd love to try the liquor 😋
That village was mint mate. Another great vid lads. All the best.
Cheers Gareth, it was a great place to visit. All the best to you too 👍
FFS the funniest thing on UA-cam.
God the cement, I wish we'd been filming when he went in, that was quite a scene 😂 We were worried his foot would set so a mad dash was required to clean it 😆
Cheers and see you on the next one ❤️
Hope all goes well with Daisy poor girl.
Great video again fantastic views too. C u next week.
Hello, thank you and glad you enjoyed the video 😍 We really loved this part of Spain, a shame we had to leave it so soon. Spoiler alert, Daisy is okay, but it was hard work getting there! See you next week 😁
Always a great vlog ❤
Morning Lindsay, thank you, we do appreciate your support 😍❤️ Have a good week 🥰
The gear linkage wasn't too horrible in the end, but it took a while getting there🤦♂️
@comealongdear Mechanical problems abroad is not what you want. I'm really glad to hear it has been sorted out 🙂
Definitely not, but hey ho, that's life in a van! Thanks Annie ❤️
cool trip
Thank you, glad you liked it 😁
Both beards coming along nicely - well done, keep going.
@@comealongdear Of course I will watch!!! I will be watching from the UK next time as I am off to deliver Christmas presents and see family..
I'm so pleased we got the chance to experience it, and in that gorgeous valley too 😍
The sunshine was fab, and definitely a reason to be in Spain over winter, though I will say it gets surprisingly cold in the middle of the country, so it did fluctuate a lot.
Hope everything went well in Corfu, and you've settled in Cyprus OK. Sounds absolutely lovely and what a great place to spend Christmas! Take care guys ❤️
Great video. Enjoyed
Thank you 🥰
I went to visit a friend in a village in the middle of nowhere a few years ago.
Haha bears week, never been to anything like it, but I can only imagine 😂 Don't mind a bear or two though 😜
Ah I love Steve's beard, it just needed shaping I think 😁 However, he recently had to get rid of the lot as he "overshaved" so it's taken leave for the time being 🤪
Once again some great scenery.
It looks lovely there, you look like you're having lots of fun. Are u missing the Uk. Lol
How long you staying in Spain for?
Fingers crossed it won't be too bad for you 🤞
Aah I'm glad you like the cooking, we're not very inventive I know, but it's just a bit of fun. Loved the bow pasta, will have to get some again soon 😁
The fruit looks like an Arbutus berry, also known as a Medronho fruit in Portugal from the strawberry tree. They use it to make a fruit brandy and is very well known.👍❤️
Thank you for the great info, we would love to try that as a drink, will have to look out for a bottle 😁
Get well soon and rest up ❤️
Hi guys that fruit is edible and if you eat a lot of them you can get tipsy/drunk ? People make Medronho / Aguadente from the fruit
🥰 Haha, well funnily enough it does feel like you see people peeing in the street a lot more regularly in Spain we've noticed...I think now we know why 😂 The city was indeed beautiful, we feel lucky to have experienced it 🙏
Thank you for the beard compliment, it does make a nice change and will come in handy for the grim UK winter 😀 Thank you Kenny, I hope you're well 😊
16 euros is a tad on the expensive side for extremadura, try and take in the beautiful city of Caceres love that City we always stop over there on our travels.
Would love to see one in the wild 😍
Thank you and have a good week❤️
Trust us, after exploring 17 countries in the last year they all do it and not one of them thought about building a lift 😂
Much Love Darren and Alison 🤟♥️
What a rubbish youtuber 😂
I think the vultures congregate because the geography suits them with those prominent cliff sides, and the fact it's so rural and open means they can scan for carrion quite easily I guess. Not something we have in the UK, so it was quite a magical sight to us. It does seem the sort of place where people would go missing never to be found though!
The bars definitely have it sussed when it comes to beer loving Brits like us 🤪
Bluesky, it seems everyone is off to that, we will have to give it a go!
Hope you're well and manage to get through another car ride from hell 🙈 Take care
Heck, yeah, that's worn - the bushing! I know about bushes in clocks, but not vehicles, but presumably simply needs 're-bushed'. Please let us know.
Aah it's good that you could spot that! Interesting, I suppose gears in clocks have something at least sort of similar. But yes, that was indeed the problem and we did get it fixed without a huge cost. That'll be in next week's video, and it wasn't plain sailing, but we got there eventually 👍
@comealongdear great stuff.
Hi Susie, thank you and I hope everything's well for you in this dreaded UK weather right now 🙏 I really appreciate your comment on the music, I try to pick something fitting if possible for the location/mood, although sometimes I spend ages searching and can never find what I want 🤦♂️ But I'm pleased you like the choices, so thank you 🥰
The National Park was very special, spectacular scenery with those jagged rocks soaring upwards from the river valley below, and of course the vultures 😍 Not something we are familiar with in the UK, so it felt very special to witness them in flight, and in such great numbers.
@@comealongdear Thanks Dan you too x
Or else I'll just screenshot our phone map 😁
Extremadura is western Spain, and hugs Portugal's border, so people often skip it as it's so far away from the coast.
Anyway thanks for joining us and commenting, have a great week 😍
I like the combination of history and travel. Whether they have beards or not is okay with me
Aah thank you so much, we're glad you liked it 🥰 We love throwing in a mix of things if we can.
Next year will be a big year for us in deciding what's next, I think ❤️
you had bad weather boys
I think we were lucky most of the time, but it's a reminder that's it's definitely not all sunshine this time of year in Spain!
@@comealongdear hope you have sunshine all the from now
Guys, for the love of god, get a shave!!😂
And fix the fucking van, as an OCD like me, its just becoming fucking annoying.
I should imagine they use antibacterial wipes, so not an issue. (It’s what I would do, anyway) 😊
@irenedale5256 yes those too, mostly we use the hand gel, and will wash them in the sink when it's open or if we're parked near one (we often are).
@ 👍❤️❤️
If two guys living in a van isn't van life I don't know what is!!
The fruit is VERY delicious and comes from a strawberry "tree" but it is more like a shrub. Very tasty homemade spirits can be made from the fruit.
Thank you! 😁 It certainly looked delicious, and we're curious to try the drink it's made into 😍
@@comealongdear ask the locals for "aguadente" (Defo NOT spelled like that!) It is Very strong, but Very Good 😀
You can even get a bit drunk if you eat too many of those fruits. High alcohol spirits (above 50 degrees) is made in Portugal with it. “Aguardente de Medronho”
