Okay, I made this a few days ago in sunny Florida where we hit 86 degrees yesterday. I can't stop eating this! My 92 year old mom loves it too! I made some homemade flatbread with herbs from the garden to dunk in the soup. Guys, this is heaven. It just goes to show you that it does not have to be cold outside to appreciate a good soup. Many thanks. I love your channel!
I bet this will be one of our favorite soups this winter. I have been holding back making soups till the weather cools down a bit so it’ll feel like even more of a comfort food.
Looks so delicious. Thank you for another recipe I can make with complete confidence. I will definitely make this omitting the oil. Ten years ago I learned to sauté using a hot pan and just a splash of water or veg broth if the veggies start to stick.
You've just made a daily staple of an indian kitchen ! If you soak the lentils for an hour it'll cut down the cooking time. Love your cooking . Stay yeung
I make this quite regularly, except I add celery, turmeric, paprika and cinnamon, in addition to the cumin, and cook without oil. It’s also great with sweet potato when I have them. So delicious!
I love the way Yeung Man teaches his recipes. His voice is soothing, instructs short and teaches without a bunch of "fluff" and talk up front. I've made several of Yeung Man Cooking recipes. They're all delicious, vegetarian and/or vegan and quickly made. God Bless you Yeung Man!
Reading many of these comments, it's obvious that your videos aren't just delicious recipes, they're also very soothing and relaxing. You provide comfort in food and other ways and that's a really cool thing 👍
The soup looks delicious. It's better to use a stainless steel immersion blender than a plastic mixer blender. Hot foods and liquids should not come in contact with plastic as the plastic chemicals will be released into the food. This is bad for our health.
You do what so few channels do: show the prep process in detail using correct technique. This is easy to follow with no unnecessary fluff. This is an easy subscription. This recipe is so simple I just need to buy the red lentils. I’m excited to make it this week.
I’ve made many variations of lentil soup. Your soup was far and away the best I’ve ever made. I used vegetable broth rather than water, but the taste and texture was amazing. It’s pure perfection
@@smallfootprint2961 I actually drizzled som bacon fat from the frying pan all over the soup. The small pieces of blackened, salty, destructivly fried and burnt rests from the crispened bacon really elevated all of the tastes. It adds that extra salt and lip balmy animalistic thick and sticky faty feeling. Like when you dig your hands into a sheep fur. But in your mouth
I made this amazingly simple soup for my family, who could not stop raving about it. It's even better the next day, if any is left! Would be great with a good crusty loaf of bread. The flavor is mild enough for young children. Thank you Yeun!
I’m new to your channel. I absolutely love how you show how easy it is to achieve these recipes. You’re so methodical with your prep and your calm demeanor makes whole process so relaxing. I feel confident to make your dishes.
I grew up in Lebanon and the version my Tayta (Grandmother in Arabic) made also included a really healthy pinch of Aleppo Pepper for some smoky subtle spicy notes. Occasionally, if it was the season, she might add mushrooms. Thanks/Shukran for sharing this very hearty bit of Lebanese soul food!
@Heartthrob Goswamy Well in this case, he has a point. Lentils first were cultivated in the Fertile Crescent of the Middle East, the western part of which is......guess where? LEBANON!!
We made this soup this past weekend, and WOWZA!!! The flavours in this soup are so comforting - it feels like a warm hug and the nutrition is on point! This recipe is super simple to make and comes together really quickly. Thank you, Wil - I can’t wait to try more of your recipes!
I made this soup just minutes after randomly finding Yeung Man Cooking on YT 🙌 I did not think my meat and potatoes Husband would even try it. When he woke up from his nap (gotta love retirement) I guess he had smelled it and helped himself to a bowl. He likes it! Many Thanks Yeung Man! Like many others, I have lentils in the cupboard but almost never use them. Feeling happy satisfied.
Hi there, I am on the North Island of New Zealand and have just made this soup. I only had brown lentils and assure you my soup is absolutely delicious. Have subscribed to your channel and will soon try your lentil curry. Thanks for this great, quick and easy recipe❤❤
Your voice and graceful hands keep me watching every bit of your video!!! Do I NEED to watch every slice and cut??? No. But I feel myself settling in to every morsel…..and appreciate the beauty that is your whole process. Thank you!!!!! 💖✨
I made this for dinner with a spicy dinner salad. This is a lentil masterpiece! Everyone loves it. It now has a happy spot on our "make it again!" list. Thanks for all of your great recipes! This is probably the most consistently excellent set of recipes I've found on UA-cam.
This is the best channel for me whenever I am sad or upset. Will is so wonderful, his voice, the music, and I learn something amazing! He is a wonderful teacher every recipe works out perfect. Thank you Will you are loved!!! ❤
There is a distinctly gentle quality to your videos that is very soothing. Obviously great recipes as well, but I especially appreciate the gentle tone
I made the soup today. It was absolutely delicious. I was aiming for us to have a bowl each and then freeze the rest, but we ended up eating the whole lot.
This soup looks amazing and healthy ❤. I have added red lentils to my shopping list so I can give this a try. Thanks for another great recipe. All of your recipes I have tried have been delicious!
So glad that I found you! Such a blessing the way you explain and describe the various tastes and textures with so much passion and appreciation. You work with excellence. Warm regards from Cape Town, South Africa. I will be making this soup soon!
I used to love eating meals with a lot of meat and starches, but I've come to find meals like this so much better. It offers so much more nutrition, flavour, and interest. Somehow it's generally cheaper, easier to keep around the house, and so much harder to over-do; it's kind of perfect. This video just reminded me of what an incredible departure I've had from my previous palette. The idea of a burger and fries or steak and potatoes doesn't really get me excited, but I can practically taste this soup across the screen, and I love it.
It’s often hard for older men in particular to change their habits. My husband always resorts to same old things like ham, bacon sausages, pork chops cooked in lots of fat, especially if he does the cooking . These recipes are so tasty and nutritious that he actually asks for them and doesn’t feel cheated.
Made this soup yesterday and it came out so good. I did add some chicken broth to it. I’ve cooked different types of beans all my adult life, but had never cooked lentils before. I liked your recipe most of all out of the lentil soup recipes on UA-cam because of the addition of the potatoes. They made for a heartier soup. Thanks so much!
I made this the day after you posted it and it was soooo good. Never thought of adding cumin to lentil soup but if definitely made a difference. I used my immersion blender and blended the whole soup instead of leaving chunks and wow. Will definitely be making this again!
I just discovered this channel two days ago and I'm making my second soup already. Yeung Man thank you for teaching me if I'm preparing the food well it will be well to my body. Also thank you for the wonderful, easy to follow videos. And in English! Very grateful to you sir.
I've made this soup yesterday and absolutely love it! So does my husband and our son. This will definitely be a regular on our menu from now on. Thanks for the recipe. Greetings from the Netherlands!
It looks nice and rich red lentil soup . Your presentation is very nice and ultimately, the way you have served and decorated with parsely and olive oil was amazing . You have really enhanced it's taste . Thank you for sharing
I just cooked and ate this lentil soup. It is truly amazing! I usually wait to eat any type of soup or stew the next day so the flavors have a chance to meld together. I couldn't wait with this soup and it was perfectly flavorful right from the pot. I will be making this soup often. Thank you, Wil, for sharing your time and delicious recipes! And now, it's time for a second bowl...
I just made this soup again for the 10+ time! I had made my first batch of my own vegetable stock and used that instead of water, it was amazing!! I really can not stop making this soup, thank you!
I just made this soup tonight and blended half of it for that Creamy umptiuosness. So delicious and simple. Thank you for this. I've finally utilized the red lentils I had in my storage for months!
Just had to say I've made this soup now twice. It makes a lot of leftovers so I stick the extra in my freezer lol it's still just as good. I add in some hot sauce to my bowl for a lil bit of extra acidity and heat! Such a comforting and simple meal. Thx for sharing
Made this tonight and it is excellent as written. I had fresh dill su used a bit with lemon juice. So good!! Finally, tried a bit of smoked hot paprika. Perfect!
It's bedtime here as I watch this but I'm going to make that tomorrow, Wil. It's another one of your dishes that's not so hard to make but will pay big dividends when it comes to taste, I can tell! Thank you, you deliver great value to your UA-cam subscribers consistently and I appreciate it.
I have just found your channel today and gosh am I excited. I am the only vegetarian in my house and only my 18 year old daughter will eat some of my my vegetarian dishes so the idea of quick one pot healthy recipes that I can make for me and other dishes for fussy meat eaters. I adore thick winter soups. I shall definitely be cooking this soup during the week.
Similar to an Indian Dal - this looks delicious too! My favourite combo is the lemon and Ghee together on hot dal. Tastes divine! especially paired with boiled rice
Nothing not to like about the presentation of this soup. Also great tips about boiling water (or stock) so as not to ‘shock’ the soup and blending a portion at the end. No fancy knife skills jus genuine and honest directions with clarity. This is a YeungManGoingPlaces! Hooroo from Australia.
I made your soup today, yummy 😋🍜 I added thinly sliced zucchini and thinly cooked bacon Using the green lintils I made corn bread to accompany the meal Most definitely will be making it again Thanks 😄
You are so correct. I cook different kinda of lentil soup, especially during cold weather. I make one very similar to this one, but will be following with this one very soon. You are so soothing to listen to and so precise with your speech. I hear your soothing voice call out the ingredients in my mind. It slows me down a bit and helps make great food...with confidence. Thank you
From a meat eater to any skeptics: I made this as my 1st attempt at a recipe from this channel. It was really good and very satisfying and easy to make. +1 purchase of the vegan ramen cookbook. Well done.
The consistency of the soup is what we call the Dal in my country, India and we eat it with Roti/chapati/naan/kulcha / Rumali roti/ bhakri (all types of Indian Bread) or plain rice. Interesting that it's consumed as a soup. I had eaten it as a soup in Istanbul, Turkey too.Good variation with potatoes which we usually eat as a vegetable soupy ( curry ) or solid
Yes! Dal is the miracle food of India. The way made in this video is the base for several variations of Dal recipes in Northern India. BTW, I absolutely love Indian food and Dal is on top of the list.
It is difficult to believe this incredible soup is so simple to put together. Love the addition of a squeeze of fresh lemon before serving. Super yum! Thank you for sharing!
This looks so good. My favorite cuisine is Indian, though your Asian meals are now pushing it hard. I have a very similar recipe that adds turmeric and garnishes with cilantro. I've increasingly replaced water with organic vegetable stock. BTW - saddened by the demise of your food storage brand I've started buying the Oxo Pop Containers. Thanks Wil.
This is a delicious and amazing lentil soup. As a Lebanese I grew up on a simple lentil soup, the way its cooked in this video is absolutely fantastic...thank you, this is how I'm cooking this soup from now on!
I've been working on rounding out my own lentil soup recipe. I first seen recipes usually chicken stock or water.....I eventually saw vegetable stock referenced. I make my own vegetable stock and think in a soup such as this means every thing. I use an "exotic concoction" of Cumin, Turmeric, Paprika, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder and a pinch of Crushed Red Pepper 😋 This type soup is so faraway from the juvenile stuff I had growing up. It's natural, pure, hearty and health!
I love the idea of bringing the water to boil separately and on the ready. I don't use garlic or onions much, but I replace the garlic and onions with fresh ginger and Hing ( asofoetida) . I love your simple, mindful presentation. And your recipes are easy to adapt with ingredients that I may have on hand! Now I definitely need your cookbook....
I love soup, I make a pot of soup nearly every weekend. There is something so comforting about having a pot of soup cooking on the stove. I love the simplicity of your lentil soup and cannot wait to make it. Thank you for sharing.
I made this but fried mushrooms and added to the soup (I mixed the soup then added mushrooms when it was done) like a mushroom lentil soup, soooo good! Thanks for recipe :)
i did the same but i chopped my mushies up and air fried them till crispy... towards the end...so it coincided with soup just finishing its cooking. Then i topped this truly heavenly soup with the air fried crunchy mushroom bits...like they were croutons! Flavour way more pronounced. PS...HOW CAN THIS SOUP BE SO DELICIOUS WHEN ITS SO SIMPLE?? I LOVE IT!!
I love the whole presentation, the close ups of the chopping (VERY helpful!), the timing of each ingredient as it goes into the pot, the gentle music, addition of ingredients given slow enough to be able to follow, terriffic in all! Looking forward to making this! I love lentils!
I love watching your videos for your chopping artistry. Thank you for slowing down and cherishing the ingredients. Cooking is an art, not a race. Meanwhile, I also watch a bunch of Southern Grama cooking shows where they open 5 cans and a bag of pre shredded cheese, a couple of flavor packets, dump it in a Pyrex and call it a casserole in 10 minutes! Balance. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve always been curious about trying pink lentils. Growing up with Indian food, I only ate yellow or brown lentils. This recipe is the perfect opportunity to try them! Thank you for sharing 🙂
I just made this... WOW! DELICIOUS AND SOOOO EASY. It tastes just like when you make a pot roast with carrots n potatoes and when eating you mix it all up with the gravy soup on your plate. Only, no meat needed! AMAZING! Thank you so much!!
I just made this wonderful soup and it is delicious. That lemon, Za’atar, and olive oil drizzle just tops this soup off. It is now one of favorites. Thank you!! How do we post a pic of what we made? I know that you are also on Instagram, I can see you on there.
It’s amazing how the flavour all come together and create something so stunningly delicious 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳 It is a pleasure to hear you are enjoying - and yes! We can view photos over on Instagram
I have brown lentils so a longer cooking time but I’m in no hurry. I sub red bell peppers for tomatoes which I also do in chili. This will be perfect for dinner tonight. Thank you!
I made this today for the first time, and it’s so easy and delicious that I’m adding it to my “go to” recipes and know that I’ll be cooking this one often!
Oh my gosh...that looks amazing! I LOVE soup. Could eat it everyday. Also just got some red lentils and was looking for a recipe to use them in. Will be making this tonight. Thanks for your easy, healthy and amazing recipes! Keep it up.😋
The asmr on that potato chopping is so good! I'm gonna try this soon but add a twist, roasted pepper with paprika then blended and added to the mix. It's gonna be great.
You are my favorite chef of all times! I love your recipes, your voice, the music you play, and just everything about you. Definitely will be getting at least one of your books!
Three suggestions: I find that leeks add a depth of flavour that is better than onions. That's why leek and potato soup is so delicious. I also find that been adding miso paste at the end of cooking which gives a nice flavor instead of stock. Finally, substituting a diced turnip instead of one of the potatoes will add a subtle sweetness.
Absolutely impressed with your recipes! You definitely make cooking easy, healthy and confident!! I love the way you present everything! Thank you so much!!! That is another cooking party I want to attend. :-)
I especially appreciate the cooking tips -- using my hot water cooker to conserve flavor, my blender to create thickening without dilution, cutting the lemon in a way to make it easy to juce, etc. Thank You So Much !!
I have this recipe minus the onion, garlic and tomato , handed down to me from my English mother in law, as ‘Armenian soup’. I can see how the extra ingredients and the addition of the parsley at the end take it to another level, thank you 🙏
Yes, Armenian soup; Vospov shorba, or to be more precise; Vartabed shorba (Monastery Soup)...Historically Armenian monastery students were served this regularly, because it was nutritious and easy and cheap to make.

Watching you is a meditation in itself. The music, the way you chop your ingredients, your soothing voice and the fantastic end product.

His voice is amazing!

Yes a meditation here, 100%.
I love soup anytime! It keeps you hydrated in warmer months and winter it's a must have for inner warmth.
AND IT COULD ALSO BE A COLD SOUP.😋
Can you post your flat bread recipe? Flat bread is great with sardines and dijon mustard!

I made your soup today, yummy 😋🍜
I added thinly sliced zucchini and thinly cooked bacon
Using the green lintils
I made corn bread to accompany the meal
Most definitely will be making it again
Thanks 😄
Next time please leave out the bacon which is unhealthy and comes from sentient agritortured animals. Our future is vegan
Don't you ruin the bacon if you boil it?
Absolutely love the way you present the instructions. Short and to the point. No rumblings on and on and on.
🤗
You are so correct. I cook different kinda of lentil soup, especially during cold weather. I make one very similar to this one, but will be following with this one very soon. You are so soothing to listen to and so precise with your speech. I hear your soothing voice call out the ingredients in my mind. It slows me down a bit and helps make great food...with confidence. Thank you
Just watching you chop, and cook is an art in itself, Will😊🦋
He makes it look so easy, this soup is a must try for me. I can’t wait to try this 😉
I love the way you cook you keep everything so clean and easy to follow....not forgetting your WONDERFUL voice. It is a real pleasure to watch you🌹🌹🌹
From a meat eater to any skeptics: I made this as my 1st attempt at a recipe from this channel. It was really good and very satisfying and easy to make. +1 purchase of the vegan ramen cookbook. Well done.
👨🏻🍳🙌🏻 It’s a pleasure to be cooking together
@@YEUNGMANCOOKING next up is the next level chili oil!
So comforting, this is amazing for a cold day and on a day when you just need some warmth.
Thanks a lot Will be trying it !
🙌🏻👨🏻🍳🤗
I wasn't sure what to cook today until after watching your video. My vegetarian lentil soup is almost ready! Thanks for the inspiration!
👨🏻🍳🙌🏻🥳
Soups don't come any better than this! And Yeung, so charismatic and creative. Both keepers!
Your recipes are just exactly what I have been looking for, simple quick nutritious delicious and vegan. Thank you
This looks so good.
The original of this soup is Moroccan. Thank you for this new version of it!
Delicious and super healthy too, I made it tonight and it's SO GOOD! Thanks!
🥳🙌🏻
This is cooking ASMR. Your voice is so calming. Easy listening, with food I can't wait to make. Thank you! 🥰
🤗
I've been working on rounding out my own lentil soup recipe.
I first seen recipes usually chicken stock or water.....I eventually saw vegetable stock referenced.
I make my own vegetable stock and think in a soup such as this means every thing. I use an "exotic concoction" of Cumin, Turmeric, Paprika, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder and a pinch of Crushed Red Pepper 😋
This type soup is so faraway from the juvenile stuff I had growing up.
Agreed - we love having soup on hand for the week, over here in the Yeung Man kitchen 🙌🏻 Keep well and happy cooking
I made this but fried mushrooms and added to the soup (I mixed the soup then added mushrooms when it was done) like a mushroom lentil soup, soooo good! Thanks for recipe :)
🤤🤤🤤
i did the same but i chopped my mushies up and air fried them till crispy... towards the end...so it coincided with soup just finishing its cooking. Then i topped this truly heavenly soup with the air fried crunchy mushroom bits...like they were croutons! Flavour way more pronounced.
PS...HOW CAN THIS SOUP BE SO DELICIOUS WHEN ITS SO SIMPLE?? I LOVE IT!!
Big YUM! I have changed my diet since having my gallbladder out 3wks ago to a more plant based.....making this soup for dinner tonight!
I love the whole presentation, the close ups of the chopping (VERY helpful!), the timing of each ingredient as it goes into the pot, the gentle music, addition of ingredients given slow enough to be able to follow, terriffic in all! Looking forward to making this! I love lentils!
Wow, those are such kind words and am happy to be cooking together 🤗👨🏻🍳 Keep well
This looks like another winner. The lentil rice was amazing. Thanks for all these really simple recipes 🙌🏻
By the way. Rice is white or brown or parboiled ? Thanks.
I’ve made this recipe three times. It is beyond delicious! Thank you! 🙂
🤗
I love watching your videos for your chopping artistry. Thank you for slowing down and cherishing the ingredients. Cooking is an art, not a race.
Meanwhile, I also watch a bunch of Southern Grama cooking shows where they open 5 cans and a bag of pre shredded cheese, a couple of flavor packets, dump it in a Pyrex and call it a casserole in 10 minutes!
Balance. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely 🙌🏻😎 I like your style
It looks amazing. I have all the ingredients on hand and I know what I will be making. Thank you for sharing another wonderful yummy recipe video.

I’ve always been curious about trying pink lentils. Growing up with Indian food, I only ate yellow or brown lentils. This recipe is the perfect opportunity to try them! Thank you for sharing 🙂
🙌🏻🥳👨🏻🍳
Thanks!
Oh wow! You are the bestest! 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
Hi,have all the ingredients and I can’t wait to make this soup 🥣,thanks so much, the red lentils are a staple in my pantry.
🥳🥳🥳
I love lentil soup, will definitely be making this one, I love the way you explain each step of the recipe. Thank you 😊
🥳🙌🏻
I just made this today and it was delicious. The blending and reincorporation of a portion of the soup really kicks it up a notch.
Thanks as always.
👨🏻🍳🙌🏻
I have brown lentils so a longer cooking time but I’m in no hurry. I sub red bell peppers for tomatoes which I also do in chili. This will be perfect for dinner tonight. Thank you!
I made this today for the first time, and it’s so easy and delicious that I’m adding it to my “go to” recipes and know that I’ll be cooking this one often!
Wooo! Amazing and glad you enjoyed 🙌🏻🥳
Oh my gosh...that looks amazing! I LOVE soup. Could eat it everyday. Also just got some red lentils and was looking for a recipe to use them in. Will be making this tonight. Thanks for your easy, healthy and amazing recipes! Keep it up.😋
You are in for a treat 🙌🏻🥳
The asmr on that potato chopping is so good!
I'm gonna try this soon but add a twist, roasted pepper with paprika then blended and added to the mix. It's gonna be great.
Sounds amazing 🙌🏻
I can't wait till I have a kitchen to cook some of these recipes. Yum🙏📖😇
Crockpot, no need of kitchen... welcome to van life
Ohhh! Thank you for making this amazing lentil soup and made it with simple every day ingredients! I’m going to make it this week!
🥳🥳🥳
You are my favorite chef of all times! I love your recipes, your voice, the music you play, and just everything about you. Definitely will be getting at least one of your books!
Three suggestions: I find that leeks add a depth of flavour that is better than onions. That's why leek and potato soup is so delicious. I also find that been adding miso paste at the end of cooking which gives a nice flavor instead of stock. Finally, substituting a diced turnip instead of one of the potatoes will add a subtle sweetness.
Thanks for the tips! How do you create meso taste?

Absolutely impressed with your recipes! You definitely make cooking easy, healthy and confident!! I love the way you present everything! Thank you so much!!! That is another cooking party I want to attend. :-)
🥳🥳🥳
I especially appreciate the cooking tips -- using my hot water cooker to conserve flavor, my blender to create thickening without dilution, cutting the lemon in a way to make it easy to juce, etc. Thank You So Much !!
Just made my first ever red lentil soup! Absolutely divine!! Surprised how amazing it tastes without any broth! Thank you!!
Love your recipes! It would be helpful if you can also list or mention the yield/estimated servings. 🙂
Hiya 🙋🏻♂️ Unless otherwise mentioned most episodes yield one very generous to two portions 🙌🏻 Happy cooking
For this particular recipe I make half a batch at a time and get 4-5 bowls out of it.
I appreciate what you show us and how pleasant it is to watch and listen. Peaceful. Many thanks.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I have this recipe minus the onion, garlic and tomato , handed down to me from my English mother in law, as ‘Armenian soup’. I can see how the extra ingredients and the addition of the parsley at the end take it to another level, thank you 🙏
Yes, Armenian soup; Vospov shorba, or to be more precise; Vartabed shorba (Monastery Soup)...Historically Armenian monastery students were served this regularly, because it was nutritious and easy and cheap to make.
