And, do you have a solution to this problem? Also, I'm not saying WGU is not a good school, I'm just simply curious how this would work with the GPA issue, and if there's a way around that. Thanks!
Great question. Yes, you basically get a Pass or Fail grade for each class. B or higher is a pass, everything else you have to re-take. This can be an issue with some undergrad programs. Well just go to an online university that accepts them. Sometimes it’s not necessarily about earning a degree. Many jobs that pay higher salaries want you have a higher level of education but don’t necessarily require a degree. They may just require a certain amount of credit hours in certain subjects ie courses in the social sciences or course credits in the area of business. Sophia is perfect for that if you’re not necessarily concerned about the actual degree. What’s even better is that you can get it done in a short period of time(depending on how much time and effort you’re willing to invest in the courses)
Most employers are going to want your college credits on actual college transcripts even if they don't require a full degree. I've never heard of an employer being cool with some classes listed on a Sophia.org transcript. They don't actually count as college classes until they've been accepted by a University. Even then, the transcripts are still separate. If you find an employer that will give you a job, promotion, or raise just by having some Sophia courses, that's pretty cool! Take advantage! I agree about making connections at high level schools.
I think that depends. If you're a busy adult with 20 years of experience in your field, but HR wants you to have a degree in order to get a promotion, hacks are the way to go. If you're just graduating high school or something, then maybe you should go for the full experience, if you can afford it. Everyone has different circumstances, and there are far better ways to gain life experience and personal growth than going into debt.
