even 4 years afterwards these series of videos helped me finish a deck for my grandkids and family thank you so much Craig. your attention to detail audio, video, & narration explanation was just stellar throughout this series!

That has to be one of the stoutest step builds I've ever seen. And all those Simpson hurricane straps - WOW. I use them, just not that many. This deck will last forever!

That is how I built my deck frame 30 years ago, using 2x6's for decking . The deck is still standing, and I'm on my third pool. Back then I used No.12 galvanized nails for the decking. I have sanded and stained the deck so many times I had to re-screw some of the deck boards because I sanded off the nail heads but have never replaced a deck board.

Watching your videos helped me build my 2 tier deck and now going from deck to above ground pool deck. Thank you so much.

Thanks for this pool deck series Craig. Just dropped a 18x33 pool in the ground and built a 25x50 deck around it. Couldn't have done it without these vids. Thanks man!!

Yea.. You couldve done it without the vids...its called common sense and effort! Craig wasnt born a carpenter, he also had to learn....patience.

I would kill for a deck like this on my above ground pool!!! Great work guys.

Your border is going to trap water, and eventually rot. Alternatively a suggestion would be to double up framing and leave a half inch gap for drainage.

I dont know if it’s overkill or what but I been told by elders to stagger the deck boards on Joyce to help strengthen it even if boards were long enough to span deck like this video! Thoughts?

I noticed all your videos build decks around round pools. Can you explain how such a deck build would have to differ if a section of the deck had to abut a straight side of an oval above ground pool, especially since even “buttress free” ovals have projections on the straight sides not found on circulars that must be circumvented?

Treated boards should be installed tight because they will shrink and leave you the space you need.

zip tape the top of every frame board before decking or you will be doing it again in a couple years. Pool water is more corrosive than rain water. Don't ask me how i know, just trust me. And water proof that decking every year.

    Hi Kraig
I'm following your decking vids and I'm learning a lot from you man..thanks 👍
Now I'm wondering why did you have to dig 48/12 inch with the auger machine? Usually I see that you dig around 20-30in with hands. ..
By the way I'm always wondering why don't you feel all of the posts holes with concrete? ?doesn't it dangerous or something? ?Aldo I see you do a perfect job and it's looks solid. ..
    Thanks

Two questions Craig. I noticed u ran the support beams perpendicular to the poo, is that better than running the beams parallel to the pool? Also, need ur advice on whether or not to run decking on top of pool cap or do what u did half inch gap at the level or below pool cap? Help

    • @piperiscoolvaughn951
      @piperiscoolvaughn951 5 років тому +1

I'm sure you've figured this out by now but I think the reason for not running over the pool cap is if you have to replace the liner you want room to remove the caps.
