There is no end to opinions on putting wood directly on concrete. Is this something which can only be done in certain climates? Is there a reason you didn't concrete up to ground level and install a post anchor?
Putting concrete above the frost line let's the entire post move and cause issues with the climate
You should change you're name to Doug, that way you can be Doug Heffernan lol, just playing man, looks totally awesome, you're a master at your work.

Great job , working with wood is just awesome well done guy,s.
Great Job, most people on youtube showing how to do videos have no clue how to actually do it
can my future husband be as bright as these men? ugh beautiful job!!
if you marry a carpenter
My husband isnt a carpenter and he knows all of this. It does take someone that knows measurements, what I lack in but my husband does so we suceed in a lot of projects. We recently made a firepit with benches made from cinderblock and wood it came out very nice, but we are learning from great videos like this one. Thanks youtubers and pinterest!
Next weekend's project. thanx!
You’ve just uninspired me to even start!! Thanks
After watching this i straight up thought to myself im gonna have to go to carpentry school and then become an apprentice framer for a few years to learn these skills haha
I’ve been doing carpentry a long time but this is very good work beautifully done!
Thanks so much John.
Very nice work on this deck and I learned a couple of tricks to apply to the one I am about to build next week. Thanks for posting this video.
How long did this project take to fully finish?
Better yet how much did it cost?
Do you mean after he tore this piece of crap down and hired a real professional to build it right??

This is my mom's dream pool with a deck built around it
Mothers day is coming up, surprise her.
I'm not sure if i skipped an important part, but why exactly did you put those posts into earth without any protection?
sure, for americans :D
the post sitting in the earth....errr.....no concrete, no metal support...the wood will move and go rotten with the elements....!!!
thank you, I thought u was the only one worrying about this
Don't you usually put the post in then pour concrete around it? I don't understand why he didn't do that.
If you surround a post with concrete, it will Rot because the concrete is porous despite being hard. He put concrete in first to give the wood post a stable foundation. Those posts are pressure treated with chemicals so they do not rot.
Way to make the kids work you sir are a stud
