Gotta say one thing I enjoyed when we moved as a kid was building a new deck at out new home. I really can't wait to get a house and be able to put up a deck. I love the design on this.
This video explained everything and was set up perfectly. As a new carpenter I’ve been watching so much UA-cam but the quality and direction of your vids is honest and easy to follow and to the point. Love it. Thank you sir
Love using Trex, all screwed from the underside so no holes or visible screws, highly flexible so you can pattern it to a degree, also I slotted it and installed frosted glass panels instead of railings, absolutely beautiful!!
I work in outside sales for 84 Lumber Company and I have to say the amount of extra details I see go into your work versus other contractors I've seen before is truly professional grade work. Nice work sir. I especially appreciate how you used tar around your posts.
I love that this was released in 2020, 14th of October and its now, today 04.04.2021 that this video is getting all the attention it deserves. Love the video!
I really wish I would've seen this video a lot sooner, I've been helping my uncle build a deck similar to this one and neither one of us really knew what we were doing so we just winged most of it. Could've used a lot of these framing tricks to make the job go a lot quicker
Great job. I have a similar house/backyard configuration and I was looking for something like this for my yard. This is awesome, I think I can do this. Thank you very much!!
Excellent work. I am doing a Trex deck around a swim spa and you make it look easy brother😄 The intricate part is building the access panel for service and maintenance I want it to tie into the deck and hopefully 🙏 without the panel weighing 200 pounds
Interesting to see you Americans nail everything in such constructions and not screw it together. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up your great work!
I love the positivity in the criticism all-in-one video going along the allowance of the finest education while working by yourself and understanding how to complete a project by yourself this is a perfect example of having the perfect education enough experience and the power of understanding how to use power tools you are definitely somebody that deserves a type of message like I'm leaving now much-loved much respect my good friend thank you and thank you by the way for all the information that you have given me and I thought I was good LOL😂👊🇮🇹👊
Great framing! Have a pool deck similar set up this spring. Only issues is with burying the posts in the ground below grade. Different codes different places. Still great work
Beautiful work if not overkill. As many hangers as you install, may I recommend a pneumatic palm nailer? As a former general contractor w/20 years in the business, I can tell you it's a life saver! Keep up the good work!
I love seeing the concrete mixed in holes.. it always get the best mix.. as apposed to like bins or a mixer that can save time and is made for it Shrugs.. people love doing things the hard way,.
I worked with a rented augur once to help drill holes for a new fence, except it didn't work when we tried to use it. So we took it back, and when we got at the rental shop and the worker tried it, it started working. So we took it back to the fence and once more it stopped working. So we did it by hand 😂
@11:39 You covered a dutch saying..... " If you dig a hole for someone.... you fall in to it yourself" translated that would be about... What goes around comes around.
Did you not concrete the posts? Did I miss that part? It appears you only set them on concrete but didn’t bury them in concrete, just dirt? Am I correct?
I saw the same thing. I even repeated the part where he said "I laid the post on top of the concrete ". I don't think he didn't buried those post with concrete 😳
I had the same question too! I watched another video and they did the exact same thing, putting the post on top of concrete and then filling with dirt. I don't get why you don't set in concrete lol.
@@ryanowens2016 what kind of Jedi mind tricks are this 🤔? I personally think is wrong. But then again, I don't have a company and I don't have a UA-cam channel with thousands of followers lol 😂😆🤣
@@ryanowens2016 because he says if he was to concrete above the frost line it would / could move the deck post by lifting it up when the ground freezes
Yes, the corner caps pop off, the top rails come off , replace the liner, reinstall the top rails and caps. The winter pool cover also has a space to slip by. When i built the deck the framing was held back 1/1/2" and the decking was cut 1/2" away from the pool rail and cap . A winter pool cover is a thin cable that will slip right by the 1/2" space and clamp around the pool walls.
It's 4:30 am
I have no plans to build a deck in the next 10 years
I don't have a pool
Watched the entire video!!
If I needed a deck built this is the guy I'd want to build it.
That little clip of you falling in the hole was a nice touch, I tip my hat to you sir.
Brush off the haters bud. Thats the most professional install I've ever seen. I wish I could find a contractor to do work like that. Well done 👏

Wow, thank you for the nice words. I used to go to 84 to get all the treated lumber. But they closed the Erie,Pa branch down.

great job using the concealed hangers. Most people dont know about them
Nice to see you back on the air!
Anyone who has ever looked down on a tradesman - these people are geniuses. this is a SCIENCE in itself.
Not gonna lie. I watched the ferret run into the wall like 20 times and you falling into the hole about the same. Awesome project!

This is so satisfying to watch. Everything just lines up so perfectly. 👌
I know nothing about building, but I really enjoyed watching the build progress! It looks awesome!
Craig, beautiful work! Bought a pool and have been searching the interwebs for two-tiered deck ideas. This is a goldmine! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
One of my best memories as a kid was helping my dad build a huge deck that went completely around a friends deck.
you make it look so easy
This makes me miss my framing days. Stuck in a truck too often now. Great video!
You are a mastercraftsman..... A lost art! Your work is absolutely stunning.
This guy is a god damn champion. A true American hero!
I like your work! greetings from a German carpenter
Im German / Irish Thanks for watching over there
Beautiful craftsmanship. I look forward to watching the rest!
the gunfire sound effects he added at 12:20 lmao i was confused for a second thinking i had another video playing in a different tab 😂
Having a few drinks, getting ideas from your great video... you had me thinking I was hearing things at 12:22.
Ratatata. Asmr
I just dedicated 17 minutes of my life to watch this video. Time well spent.
Glad to see another project! I wish I had a contractor down here in GA. like you to do the work I need done.

Wish this dude would post more videos
How could he? This shit probably took him a month
Best construction video!! Exact speed and clear explained.
amazing that this is a one man operation. super impressed.
I did have some help digging the holes
Absolute beautiful job!!!
4ft down!? That code is nuts. I could see if you were building a house on it but for deck… dang
So insane
Excellent work. That deck will last a lifetime.
After all that, in retrospect I think it'd been easier to just dig the pool in the ground haha
To be fair, no grass or dirt directly near it, it would be harder for debris on the ground to get in it.
I think that too
I would get a real inground pool first. Then make a deck around it. Who knows how long this pool holds.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.
Deck around an above ground pool? Spinners on a Honda
Wow your videos AND projects always look so good!

in US everything is nailed, unimaginable here in Germany. Great job and looks great. I have the same pool size.
you left in the fall. props to you. Badass!
I was interested in the framing part.
thank you for the education.
Thank you!! And I’m so glad you’re okay!
LOL who has not fallen into a hole they dug a time or two! Great video, thanks!

Noooooooo video is over! Can’t wait for part two
very good job ,nice video editing.Really nice to watch and learn.THX
You are a legend
Great project. Watch out for those holes! 😉
In my area you must use a saddle hanger support on the footing to the 6x6.
the holes got you and the mink.
Lots of great information, thanks for sharing. I am wondering how you determine the angle cuts at 15:51?
Wow! Nicely done, sir! I've never seen anyone build a multi-level deck by themselves! Kudos! 👍👍😁
Becareful next time. Great job!!

Me in 2020: This is a really cool, well informed video.
Me in 2021: God damn! Imagine how much that cost in wood!?!
was looking for a comment like this

You sure do have a nice deck!
When building this did you consider how your going to replace the liner when it becomes times to do so?

Beautiful job!
I made notches in my 4x4's for my deck, help support the full load.
well if there is ever a tornado, hide under the deck!
Glad I’m not the only one that fell in a footing hole during my deck build. Lol
How did you make sure to avoid the bonding ring around the pool?
Them damn holes got you & the ferret 😂
american houses are so simple .. i wondering evertime how they even last more than 10 years >D greatings from germany
Oh Ich dachte ich wäre der einzige Deutsche hier. Und die Wände sind auf fucking Plastik, das ist Ekelhaft.

American homes and decks last decades upon decades. Alittle bit of light maintenance over the years and it’s good as new
@@MrLLBLLB Yeah it's a stereotype, lots of new builds are amazing quality. Just some shitty ones give everyone else a bad wrap :(
