Why doesn't the team embrace this stuff more? We (they) are one of the most important teams in sports history. A ring of honor, George S Halas stadium at Soldier Field, (lost landmark status, why not embrace the actuality of the situation) there is so much amazing history to this team it's a shame things like this aren't easily available. To the rest of you though if you haven't read Papa Bear, I would highly recommend hit. George you will be forever remembered. Bear Down!!!!!
@@007ndc I sure would like ya see the MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY, just 1 more time. Win it all. In BEAR fashion. Too much death. Look at it like this; BUTKUS, Ditka, Singletary, Urlacher, Hampton & Dent r the only living HOFers alive for the BEARS 🐻.
That's news to me. I never even heard any rumors to that affect. The Giants' Tim Mara and the Steelers' Art Rooney bet the horses, as did Halas' son-in-law, Ed McCaskey. Halas was good friends with Cardinals' owner Bill Bidwell, but that friendship had nothing to do with horses or Sportsman's Park. It had a lot to do with Bidwell being a longtime Bears' fan. No kidding.
@@bradpalmer7944 ...my Grandfather once told me that George Halas drafted Galimore based on some advice he received while betting on horses in Florida...according to NFL Films, "he received a tip from a jockey" at a Miami racetrack about a running back from Florida A&M (Willie Galimore).
@@bradpalmer7944 ...maybe I'm wrong, and I certainly don't want to intentionally shatter your wonderful image of Halas so,...perhaps it was the aroma of horseshit while conversing with jockeys that he craved at horsetracks, not necessarily gambling or placing bets on horses.
The super bowl trophy 🏆 should be the Halas trophy not the Lombardi. For without Halas’s early days of promoting the league would have never made it. He also developed the line up strategy. He was owner, coach, captain, played both offense and defense, he even sold tickets and hot dogs 🌭 on occasion. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his Bears 🐻 BTW the Hut-mobile dealership where the league was formed George paid $100 to be an nfl team!
Thanks for giving the best possible remembrance of George Halas.
I love MR. Halas.

GOD bless you coach Halas...I will never forget you...I will always honor you for what you did for Chicago and the BEARS...may you R.I.P....
Papa bear was a great NFL person. R.I.P
George Halas: "I proudly present for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame GALE SAYERS - his like will never be seen again." And it never was.
The finest Hall of Fame induction ever. Gale Sayers RIP

It seems to me Woody Hayes modeled him self after Halas, and Im a Michigan fan, both were passionate!
The Bo & Hayes cold wars were legendary
The greatest
George Halas was a great man!
...Halas also gambled alot of money at Bidwell's race track...maybe that's why he couldn't afford to pay his players

Would you care to elaborate?

The trophy is appropriately named as it is. The LOMBARDI TROPHY. Such disrespect.
