I don't comment on things.. But bro Yellowcard has ALWAYS been my band. And always will be. You've been in my daily musical lineup for a few years now. I think I know a little more why your style connects with my taste of rock. Lights and Sounds was such a pivotal record to me being more than just a listener of music, but someone who wanted to be into the music. Yellowcard is just one of those bands I can lose myself in.

My personal favorite Yellowcard album is Paper Walls. Ocean Ave and Lights and Sounds were both great, but Paper Walls just had those fuckin JAMS. Five Becomes Four, Takedown, Fighting, just so damn good. I was a bourgeoning drummer at the time as well, and that album really helped me find some new grooves and approaches. The drum solo in the middle of Light Up The Sky just makes me so happy.
Thanks, Alex, I guess I'm jamming to Yellowcard for the rest of the day.

Circa 2011, Yellowcard got the opener slot at Warped Tour on Long Island. I could tell they were a little annoyed to be playing at 10:30AM given their caliber but not in a super entitled way. It took almost no time at all for a massive circle pit to form. The entire stage's dimensions replicated in front. Probably about 150 feet by 75 feet, so it was more of an oval. There was so much energy. I've been to a lot of concerts that couldn't match mid morning Yellowcard. They thanked us afterwards for being such an amazing crowd. I'll remember that set forever. Thanks for this video and for resurfacing that memory for me, Alex.

This just brought me back. Yellowcard will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first band I found and fell in love with on my own. I was playing SSX 3, shredding down the mountain and then I heard it, Way Away. I was hooked immediately and went out and got Ocean Avenue and not long after Lights and Sounds. They were in constant rotation in my Discman. I was so excited for Paper Walls, but it was set to come out the summer of graduation. I was going to be in basic training. I was on MySpace constantly, listening the couple of songs they put out, trying my best to know every word before I left. The first thing I did when I graduated bmt, after my family left, was hit the BX, grab a cheap Walkman, the new PaperWalls CD, and I explore Lackland AFB and I was so happy. Every song in Paper Walls just hit and to this day it remains one of my favorite albums ever. Yellowcard played such a huge roll in my life

This comment section is crazy! At that time I felt I was the only one loving this band. Now I see we all felt the same thing listening to these albums, it's crazy and so overwhelming!
I was in high school in France and like you I was checking MySpace everyday to listen to their new releases for Paper Walls. And I remember going at the store the day the album was supposed to come out. And they didn't freaking have it, I had to order it. I was so gutted! So when I came home I pirated it because I couldn't wait! Lol
The choir in the song PaperWalls still gives me chill today

I didn't have a lot of friends that were really into Yellowcard when I was growing up, but I ATE UP their Ocean Avenue album. It was my daily listen. Something about the violin being involved, the guitars being sublime, and the drums were always banging, they had me coming back on the daily. After some time, this album is what helped me bond more with my younger sister. Our mutual love for this band has continued to grow and we were able to catch them live in concert last year. LP's ability to take a straight 16th note snare fill and turn it into such a beautifully dynamic and musical tool set me on a path to really learn how to FEEL drums. You can take something incredibly simple and add so much more feeling with accents and dynamics that it completely changes everything about the way it sounds and the emotion it evokes when heard. I used to think that only tonal instruments could manipulate the feel of the music that way by playing different sets of notes like minor, major, diminished, etc... It's hard to explain to non musicians, but I'm sure there's other drummers here that understand what I'm talking about.

The Lights and Sounds album was impactful as well. Their entire catalogue with Ryan Key (7 albums and 2 EP's) are excellent, EVERYTHING. I will not take the Lift A Sail slander, that is a fantastic album, some of y'all just aren't ready for it yet. Sure, it's missing LP, but you can admit those weren't even suitable for him. Lights and Sounds (the song specifically) has a very special place in my heart as well because I was learning guitar via Ocean Avenue 10 years ago and hadn’t heard anything from Lights and Sounds before. So when I turned on the album for the first time and was met with that guitar riff to open things up I was blown away. Still one of my favorite riffs to play. Went on to see Yellowcard play a number of times and Sean Mackin commented on a post of mine when I was reviewing their self titled album back in 2016 when they first called it quits.
So cool to see LP3 and Sean play some role in this video. Those guys are so amazing musically and just such kind people.

Every one of their albums is great, but this one is a banger from start to finish!

Chevy Blazer was my high school chariot as well! Constantly had problems and taught me a lot about cars. But it was great for getting my friends around town. Had a sub in the back that made that Lights and Sounds album oh so sweet... until I realized there were other things to do back there with the seats down (giggity) and the sub took up too much space lol.

Still have LP's drumstick I caught at warped tour a looong time ago. Got him to sign it later, great memories. Always a special band to me.

Love the playing as usual, but the commentary and perspective is really rad

Anyone else notice the faces in the “down on my head” part? When emulating LPIII Alex has a face of determination and when throwing his own version out there his face is so much more emotional and like… fearful or hopeful?

Can we also just talk about that guitar tone you played at the start of Lights & Sound - big taking back sunday vibes!

Just saw them in concert in Minneapolis! My girlfriend got me tickets for my birthday (: sounded amazing and seem like a good bunch of people.

LP is tied for my favorite drummer with Zac Farro. Yellowcard is still good, but sounded and felt differently after he left. He brought a frantic energy that can't easily be topped.

I *need* a full cover of Down on My Head. One of my fav Yellowcard songs.
