I'm a huge Yellowcard fan, and I feel like they really don't get enough credit for the amazing music they wrote.
It's true. They really are a great band. So many great songs along the way.
I knew all the words to this song and I barely remember them at all, so at least they get in your brain.
People only talk about ocean avenue but their later stuff is incredible. Be The Young, Cut Me Mick and Keeper are some of my favourite songs of all time.

You will begin to wonder how they can make songs just as good as the ones you already love. It is hard to pick favourites with this band.

I remember we would do a full band sound check… and we always played NIB by Black Sabbath (no singer) because our bass player loved that song 😂. One day someone else recognized it and straight ratted us out to the pastor ….

I have a theory that almost any "you" song that doesn't explicitly allude to sex (and the occasional one that does) can be done as a worship song. i mean, I'm referring to specifically this like, whole alt, pop-punk, would these days probably be on adult alternative stations (yikes) vibe but eh, throw in a "you, Lord!" and you can get out of genre.
As someone who's mixed for church for a living for 15 years, this is painfully, painfully accurate.

The sound check is 100% point. Every detail. Nailed it.
This is one of those times you know it is a banger because of Alex Melton, but you know even more it is a banger because the concept is too perfect.
I love this. I was a pop punk worship musician for a long time. The sound guy always praised the guy with the amp modeler over my expensive tube amp. I wanted to see if I could get away with using Yellowcard in church. Dammit Melton, you are a genius. This straight up sounds like a Hillsong United song that they would have released in 2012.

A teen brother of my friend died when this song came out and I had introduced them to YC and this actually played at the end of his funeral at Hillsong church. It was heavy. He was only 14 and ended his own life

Growing up, my church’s youth group would sing a few worship songs before our lessons. Because it was a cappella, anyone could start a song and the rest would join in. One time a parent brought their 5 year old kid and he started singing Reflection from Mulan. So we all just joined in and sang about the girl we see in the mirror. Honestly pretty impressed with how many of us knew the words by heart

I can't believe how accurate this was. haha The part that got me was when he said "No one's gonna sing with you cause you're not gonna be in the house". LOL Bro. This sound check was S tier. As someone who's sung at church and going through soundchecks, this is THE most accurate thing I've ever seen! The part that had me in stitches was when Alex plays the song through Ableton and he's just standing there! That's exactly what people on stage would do at my church when they would test the track. 🤣

As lights and sound (for church) I can confirm that the intro is spot on. Also kinda sad this song is more "spiritually" deep than some songs we sing in church today.
Yea. Avoid anything on Christian radio for the most part. Our church does some great stuff both musically and lyrically that is not emotionally manipulative.
You guys need to expand your catalog, there are tons of deeper and spiritually sound songs coming from other smaller lesser known churches around the world aside from the big ones. Enough people complained in our church that we've started phasing out some songs
@@EthanRom I listen to more than just CCM that's why I said some songs. I know that many churches have deep theological songs and other have amazing "modern" worship. I was just saying that this song in some ways is deeper "spiritually" than what you might find in the modern American church. (That fact is sad and funny at the same time.)

I play guitar for our youth group from like 15-19. Im a metal head/pop punk/emo. Me and 3 different drummers we had all liked the same music. So when we had a more up beat song, you better believe we had some half time stuff. One of staff members laughed so hard the first time we did it. And one night he was really into it and started head banging. One of the drummers said he saw the pastor head bang one night. The shit i got away with on guitar was great. I some how convinced the music leader that drop c was a great tune.
This almost got me to go back to church.

If you want it to be really authentic, gotta lower the video quality, camera changes when the operator isn’t ready, mess up the lyrics verbally, but include them on the screen like closed caption style… but then the lyrics person has to go to the wrong line, etc. I’ll say it again, it’s so funny how accurate this is.
