It is difficult to make this compliment without discounting the hard work you have put in. I'm aware you have devoted a huge amount of time over the years to your craft, but I am really amazed with the insane amount of natural talent on display here. It is awesome to see folks that find those talents in life and pour resources into them. Keep kicking ass.
@@JBConsistencyyup it's the same for a lot us. So many What if ..? and regrets. But at times we were truly happy and content. Wished we done more but no use crying over spoiled milk as they say. There's many more great memories to look forward to.
DUDE! There is so much to love here. Top 3 oh dang moments for me... 1. Half time feel during the solo (plus a killer solo) 2. The bass during quiet bridge 3. The Shout Chorus towards the end. Please keep drinking coffee and making music!☕🤪🤘
@@AlexMelton dude I bet, I played that guitar riff so much as a kid so it was awesome hearing a fresh take on it. Keep taking chances and expressing yourself, you have created something really unique here!
Alex: "So, what should we do for that little guitar lick in the chorus?" Alex: "I have several ideas..." Alex: "Let's use all of them." Alex: **slurps coffee** Alex: **slurps coffee** One of my favorites so far. Creed makes for surprisingly good pop punk. Great video
I don’t understand how you are incredible at all your instruments, can record/mix/master everything perfectly, film everything in an expert way….i’m just jealous is all. That must’ve been so much time you’ve put it all this. The song and the results are awesome. All your songs are awesome. And I’m especially impressed by your drumming and how you reimagine songs all together.
Is almost unnerving how much difference a small production change can make. Your channel does such a good job of highlighting genre conventions, of exploring how musical meanings are created in/through various production vocabularies/contexts, and so on. Sure, it's also cool as hell, but there is a lot more going on here (and I promise that I am not trying to let the lit professor in me ruin everything by overanalyzing it). Thanks. Keep it up.
Evwryone has already said everything that needs saying about this song but...i must reiterate. What an absolute banger, I'm frankly stunned that you could put this song in a blender with 2000s pop punk and dial up such a masterpiece. It feels genuinely like a new song, while at the same time keeping those signature hallmarks of the original (like those big guitar chugs before the final choruses). Knocked it out of the park. Thoroughly impressed by your musical chops, again.
Man, I was not expecting fast Creed to work this well, but it absolutely slaps! Loved the little coffee break at the beginning too, buying a plain iced coffee to use as a canvas depending on your mood for the day is kind of inspired.
The way you’re able to distill all of your influences and just general love of music into each of these projects, while still retaining the spirit of the original, is such a neat thing to see
One of if not the best cover / remake you’ve done man. You can literally see yourself pushing for that next level on the skins. Love the mid-song surprise with your beats. Keep it up!
Dude, I always want to leave a comment but can never find the right words. You *floor* me with your talent, creativity, production quality, hard work and dedication. It is a privilege to witness you execute your craft and the end result is always such a gift to the ears. Thank you so much for sharing.
Love it. You have such a cool way of looking at music and all the possibilities. Aaaand, now I'll be listening to creed for the rest of the day. Cheers.
Pretty cool man!!! Creed was always one of my favorite rock bands, and since I was about 8 years old fell in love with pop punk because of Blink 182. To this day i will always love both bands, and you freaking nailed it! I got so many good vibes, and reminiscent feelings from this cover. You absolutely rock, and the diehard fans of pop punk are blessed you exist.
Another absolute belter mate, well done! I got my first ever car a couple of months ago and I swear 90% of the stuff I've blasted out the stereo as I'm cruising down the promenade with my windows down has been you so thank you for that!! I'd love to hear you do a cover of Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World, maybe in the worship band style :)
Another banger! On the first prechorus I was thinking how amazing it would sound half-time, and then of course you read my mind and didn’t the second time through. *chef’s kiss*
I'm one of those strange people who actually liked and still like Creed. THIS SONG IS AMAZING! This tempo and style gives this already awesome song a new life. Love it!
Alex… watching your progression of ability over the years has been great. Banger after banger. You’re so much better on drums than you previously were. I love your take on this song!
Creed was the soundtrack of my adolescents and hearing it brought back in such a cool style from that same time period was amazing! Truly great work my man!
I'm blown away! Okay, so I played Higher via UA-cam last night whilst winding down getting ready for bed. This popped up in my feed. And I did not expect those vocals. You turned it into a Pop-Punk song IMO, and I don't mind it AT ALL! Well done!!!
I love the “in the mind of Alex” perspective! And what a fun cover! Would love to see a tutorial on how Alex works his magic. Could be a good way to promote the products he’s using too
Yesterday it never would've crossed my mind that one of my favorite songs can be played in the style of pop punk, yet once again, you've made it both possible and kick ass. Well done.
A few seconds in I went looking to buy this song, and then I realized you posted the video 2 hours ago. I'll check back later, love your music, keep it up.
This is the BPM that makes the song work at long last! It's like the first time I heard Great Big Sea cover REM's "It's the End of the World as You Know It".... There's no going back from here! Nice job man!
This is a super interesting take on this tune! This is what a cover should be: interesting, different, creative, and fun. This one hit the mark for me on all fronts!
I can't help but think that anyone trying to do their best job singing along with the original ends up doing an impression of Jeff Bridges' The Dude. What a knockout of a cover as always.
You are an absolute musical genius and beast of a magician. I can't comprehend how you turned this song into this smart-rock masterpiece. It's even better than the original lol. Excellent work
This vid deserves soooo much more credit!! The work the editing the TIME and this sick ass cover that came from it! Absolutely awesome work!!! Great Job!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Ya know, I always love your videos, but this time my mouth was open and I was getting chills down my spine and right leg. Dude, you're so frigging talented.
I've watched a few of your videos lately, and your voice reminded me of someone- especially on the "speed up" songs like this video- and I couldn't quite find it. I mean, I know as a white dude of/near my generation your voice naturally fits into a lot of the punk/pop rock slots like Blink182, etc... but I couldn't quite fit it until this song! Not sure if you've heard of them, but in my ear your voice has a lot of similarities to Mike Herrera from MxPx. Maybe that doesn't track for other people, but hearing your voice sort of struck a chord of nostalgia that resounds with MxPx to me. Great work!
Holy wow! This treatment really worked for this song! Huge fan of Mark Tremonti in particular, but your whole treatment of this was amazing as well! Good job man!
I love your talents, always the unexpected that turns into the most fantastic creation. I have ended up finding hidden harmonies as I'm singing along with your reimagined versions of songs I have heard a thousand times. Amazing 🙌🔥
This makes me wish that Scott used real drums instead of programmed. This song with Scott's vocals and super technical riffage would be incredible though.
Taking a slow classic and making it bump, so good! I honestly kind of hate how good your covers are, they're like... TOO good hahaha. But seriously, great stuff. Love the backstory in the beginning as well.
Just sent this to my buddy who is currently drumming for Scott Stapp (Creed’s lead singer) on tour right now. Love what you do bro!
manifesting that Scott decides to collab with Alex (like when Fred from TBS did)
What was his reaction?
We're all gonna need an update on this later. And I really hope it's not an attempted copyright strike.
no you didnt
Dango is the man! He'll love this 😂

What a lovely comment and sentiment, thank you for going out of your way to craft that.
One of the best instrumentals you've done, the drumming was insane, and those guitar riffs were particularly well engineered!
I went from a Timberborners episode directly to this video…to see that you are here too is 🤯
Did not expect to see Mr RealCivilEngineer in the comments!
I really liked the bridge of the song...
Watch out for the rogue architect in the comments posing as an engineer.
A British engineer listening to a very american music covered by another american, God I love the internet

Another song was successfully Meltonized by Alex. It is such a pleasure to listen and drink coffee.

So if you pour coffee on your old Creed cds they turn into Blink 182 mp3’s 😂🤷♂️🤯🎸 Loved this 👍
Blink 183
Creed + Coffee = Pop punk
Lmao
Beat me to it
I think most pop punk is rock+ coffee, with the occasional red bull and vodka addition
That's some math I can get behind.
Been playing THPS amd this could be a brother to Superman by Goldfinger
The first half of the song I was like, "BUT THE RIFF!!!" And then the second half came and I was like 😌
I'd Do Anything by Simple Plan - Country version when? Also this is fantastic; Creed will always hold a special place in my heart.
Oh my god, I hope they see this and appreciate it for the gem that it is.
How does this guy not have 1,000,000 subs?💚

I'm sure he will soon enough!
Let the good things marinate for awhile. He's going to have a heck of a backlog for the new folks to sort through.

Growing up loving both creed and pop punk this is an absolute treat. Thank you for this!
Insane bro. Loved it, reminded me of The Starting Line, with the quick fast punk beat in there. But overall incredible cover. God bless brother.
I think we need more Coffee Creed covers.
