I just gave this a try, with the pitch always enabled and all the multipliers at 2. Big update from default and other setups, I mean, I just started the game but it's the first time that I could kill 4 other planes and actually dogfight without loosing control

Instead of binding some of the less used stuff, could you just use the multifunction menu?
Yes you could. I don’t but if that works for you you can. I just prefer having a said button on demand rather than having to open the menu.

@zok3857 you should already be on max with ps5. But there is an ultra real graphics pack on the ps store for free.

Good thing i found this video. I use L2 for flaring and i usualy find it really frustrating because i always keep afterburner on, the flick up binding is such a smart move, and also i can use the free L2 button for looking back wich i didn’t have binded. THANK YOU!!!!!
What about your common controls as for mouse and touch paid aim, controller aim sensitivity, camera mouse look speed, camera smoothness, sensitivity zoom
All those are set to default
i was struggling with war thunder on xbox because of controls , until i bought a beautiful keyboard and i keep my controller for Basic vehicles controls and all other functions and keybinds i use my keyboard , i just solved my nightmare
Alright just hard copied your setup after flying with mine for years and still sucking to this day even though I’ve grinded all the way to jets in two different trees. Hopefully I can actually give myself a chance against pc flyers now

Why doesn't my camera just stay at the back of the aircraft when I perform maneuvers? How do I remove that strange rotation and leave it fixed on the back?

I tried understanding these settings but no chance. Don’t know how to control the plane when looking back because the camera moves with the stick and I don’t know how to turn up while haven’t a free cam

If you have mouse aim you shouldn’t need to free look and turn

All of the aircraft controls are up to date. War thunder is just a game that takes a lot of getting used to. But if you don’t like something that’s default you can always think of something easier and use that. That’s how this entire video was made 😂

are you playing through steam or the client? also under control wizard what do you have selected as the layout? im playing on the client and i dont see the square, triangle and O for the buttons. What am I doing wrong? I have a ps5 controller plugged in and it shows xbox buttons in the controller setup. (B,Y,X, etc not square, triangle, X, O). I cant get it to change.
I just play right through my PlayStation. Yeah wt on pc doesn’t have the ps5 controller in the setup wizard, my friend had the same issue. But if your hard copying my controls the set up wizard shouldn’t matter.

How do you not use tracking? I literally use it 24/7 to keep eyes on ppl and especially multiple ppl when I’m dogfighting makes it easier on controller since I don’t have to do as much work to keep eyes on someone, also helps when shooting at ppl when lining up your aim I have look back set to r3. What do you have R3 set to?

Just a quick question tho, The cannons also shoot when you fire a missile, can we change that somehow? And if you roll I keep changing the speed wich is a bit annoying, or do I just need to get used to that?
The cannons for me at least don’t shoot when I fire. The roll you’ll get used to.

for the jettison weapons wouldn't u use the options setting that auto jettisons when empty to save binds? sorry if it doesnt make sense but thats what i do and it helps free up just a tin bit for contoller
Yes I do that too but I have it for if I want to drop my missiles for less weight or other weapons.
Is this same for prop planes on controller, i have no knowledge of flying planes, only got a couple, P-47M-1-RE is one BF109G2. Any help much appreciated as im getting wiped out by slower planes
Yep it’s all the same for props. Hot tip: try getting altitude and let them climb to you. You’ll have more energy to fight and they’ll be stalled in the air. Good luck o7

I don’t use it. I just use the old Switch Secondary.

Am I missing something? Because every time I try to use the L1 + R1 for the axis and im flying with a bomber or a plane with a rockets i accidentally drop a bomb or shoot a rocket
That’s what switch secondary weapon is for. It locks all other ordnance except the selected one.
I hate the fact that pulling down makes the plane go down and not up😭

Free look is a thing and it’s in the video. The multiplier slider will reduce the sensitivity on the stick.

I have a slighr problem. After toggeling teese settings, my game got flipped up. I can’t moove properly. The L joystick won’t moove unless i toggle L1 and R1 first. Then i have a wierd thing on mi screen. It’s a splitted ipp siecle acting instead of the bigger sircle that you moove around, cause that one is gonners. Please help me🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ok ik imma get hate for this but do you have a set up break down that isnt so confusing maybe its just me im new but thats alot of binding and unbinding and it just sound like far to kuch effort for minuscule effects
Well it depends on the plane your flying. If you’re flying a 4.3 P-51 then you don’t need half of these. But if you’re flying a 12.7 Su-27 being able to use your HMD TWS SARH guided missiles is gonna be pretty necessary. You’ll slowly start to understand all of it. And I don’t worry bout getting hate, I get clueless reserve players all the time 😂

Bro Ur Setting Are good but confussing asf i tried to Use l2 to Look at enemies at it Looked behind me and i crashed into a tree Out of panic
For the l2 you gotta remove one or the other and if I remember correctly there’s two settings that come default to l2. But if you want enemy tracking you do you.
I’m having trouble with this set up. I can’t seem to move the mouse with my joysticks so the plane just goes in a straight line
Try the control setup wizard then input my controls.
Followed everything, says i have no buttons assigned for toggle sas mode, thrust reversal, toggle cockpit sight. Is this important, or do i ignore it?
All those are fine as long as you’re not playing sim
Hey bro, i got a slight problem with mine, so say if my control for rocket salvo was something like y+r2, it does what y and r2 does individually so Switches positions and uses weapons but does not fire a rocket salvo
You would first of all have to hold those buttons down. Rocket salvo is pretty much just turning on full auto for rockets, you hold the button down they all fire. However for rockets and bombs I recommend using a singular button or a set that isn’t bound to something important. Maybe try down d pad r2 or make a shift button like I did.

Any good alternative for “flick” on a Xbox controller? Would be greatly appreciated.
For the flares maybe switch it out for the map if you play a lot of jets. Everything else isn’t as important and you can come up with something that works for you :)
What are secondary weapons on toptier? Like are they missiles or Bombs?
It’s all your weapons. It’s to choose individual missiles/bombs. So if you fly the su-27 for example you have 4 kinds of different missiles you have to cycle through.

Hey, does anybody else have problems with spectator mode (after death) on PS5? the camera is fixed to side of a tank and when I look around the camera doesn't stay, once I release the stick it moves back to the side of the tank. I have tried everything but haven't find a fix for it. Could anyone help with that?
Same happens to me never really cared that much though.
@@Master_Gabe_Gaming I get it, same when I play alone I just quit and enter next match. However, sometimes I play with my brothers so when my last tank is dead I like to stay and watch. Could you still look into it and maybe find a fix? Few people have posted this issue online but nobody has come forward to fix it. Save the day if possible.

Curious how the yaw works with the bumpers like that? I get the pitch but does that make it to where the just the rudder can be used or?
Pitch is up/down Yaw is left/right. Hitting both of the bumpers at the same time will activate manual control of the rudder and tail. This allows you to pull extra AOA. Rather than mouse aim which is just flying the nose of your plane on the circle.

Every time I press or release, a missile or bomb comes out because they are respectively L1 and R1. I don’t understand how you use your “shift key” without wildly firing off explosives. I started war thunder yesterday.

Turn off keep disabled axis (on the pitch settings) or whatever it’s called and have a button to reset the axis.

Yo do you play Simulator mode? If so what’s you elevator controls? I’m trying to get into sim mode but I can’t even take off in the tutorial.
The AI instructor tells me to use the elevator to make the aircraft get off the ground faster and shows Left stick up or Left Stick control as controls for that but it does nothing when I push or tap left stick up. What am I missing?
At 0:58 the pitch and yaw is how you fly in sim. One thing I forgot to say is that when playing sim turn “control mode in simulator mode” to relative control. And turn of the the toggle axis on the pitch and yaw binds
As a beginner I thought the video was not helpful. You don't go into detail about things. It's all to fast.
What’s confusing? I may be able to help. The point of the video is more complex controls aside from default ones though, for a little later game (like if you’re a wallet warrior)

The main thing is weapon selection so if you select anything but your bombs you’re good. Or just hit your secondary key first if it has nothing or something less important on it ( like L2 down D pad, and down D pad has look around to it so hit that first.)

This video is for controller binds. And mouse aim is available for controller. That’s what I use.
It’s not on my Xbox series X Either!! And every video I find that’s what they say to use. Also my menus aren’t the same as any video I’ve found to help me out. Them game is fun but I’m at a massive disadvantage Bc of lack of mapping and so many options lost on where to start.

I would guess you either didn’t add the L1 R1 on the pitch/yaw. or you didn’t select mouse aim.

@TayYt08 no you should be to hold them down and activate pitch and yaw. Then let go and be able to let go and go back to mouse aim.

If you’re highest plane is at 4.3 you don’t need some of these settings and if your movement is as jacked up as you say you might want to try resetting your controls to default, adding the settings you currently need, and then later start adding the more advanced controls.

On the ps5 controller the center pad works as a mouse pad. So you can flick/swipe on it.
