I have a feeling that the clan that forged Volendrung and Spellbreaker gave those artifacts in either a deal or an offering, as I don't see Malacath stealing, and Peryite is also known as the Taskmaster, meaning he could have tasked them with making the shield for him to begin with.
Okay, I know this is probably wrong, but hear me out on this... Possibly, Malacath and Perryite (sorry if I butchered the names, it's been a minute) were both the Dwemer owners of those weapons, and when the dwarves vanished, they were all taken to oblivion? As a result, oblivion began to change them, or they both managed to somehow take their own land and daedric forms? I highly doubt this is a thing, but within Oblivion the shivering isles DLC, Sheogorath makes you a daedric Prince (by his definition, anyway), so maybe something similar happened with the Dwarves? Peryite: Damn right Malacath let's take those with us, you can have the hammer I like the shield more. Malacath: Nice going buddy I love hammers!
I think we all know the answer to this one... And are we not gonna talk about the fact mages can just obliterate everyone in Cidnah Mine? They need those bracers that were basically handcuffs from morrowind.
I don’t think I’d ever hide something sharp and/or pointy in there, and neither would anyone else. He probably has it tucked away under the waist of his pants.
Regarding the word wall, my theory has always been that each word wall has either a dragon, or dragon priest attached, right? Well, there is the ghostly dragon in the Cairn. I always suspected that the dragon's Wall, being a memorial or tomb, had an unbreakable connection to said dragon. When the dragon was brought there, it's wall went with it. Removed from Nirn, the magic inherent there was stripped away. Any powers it had in "life" were lost, and it became forgotten and ruined, a relic of a lost dragon. Any word it might have once carried was likely torn away, as the dragon itself likely destroyed the wall. Seen as a mocking reminder of the life and power the dragon had lost to the thief with the soul stone, it likely burned and clawed at the wall in rage, until nothing was left but the blank ruin.
Watching all of epicnate's Skyrim videos has made me play Skyrim again. Even got me into modding the game graphically so my eyes don't hurt haha. Thanks Nate!
The Word Wall was likely brought to the Soul Cairn when Durnehviir first sought an audience with the Ideal Masters. Between the inter planar transfer, time and the dragon using it as a perch, it likely became unusable as a result. Its also possible that Durnehviir may have just gotten bored and decided to try carving one himself.
I felt bad striking roots when I saw how they reacted and the fact it summons Spriggens for help made me feel bad because I was an infection they were the white blood cells sent to remove me
@@orangeminotaur4668 what's funny is the spriggans were already there disguised as the pilgrims. As to why the hagravens were snackrificing them, thats how a forsworn turns into a briarheart, they have their hearts removed and replaced with taproots from spriggans which then become briarhearts
i really appreciate the fact you still do so many skyrim videos even though its already been a few years. these videos actually made me come back to skyrim
Theory about the Wooden Mask: what if it’s actually an artifact of Akatosh, and its ability is to harness the power of a dragonbreak within a specific space, likely chosen by Akatosh himself. Akatosh believes that if he hides the Konahriik mask in a dangerous place, maybe a powerful hero of Tamriel would find it one day and use its powers for good. for mor information about dragonbreaks, there are a few videos on the subject (although i personally recommend fudgemuppet’s video on them)
I don't like fudgemuppet because they always sound like they're talking down at us. In their 5 things we don't want in TES:VI, they were actually talking down at us at a couple points. I even agreed with most of their decisions in that video.
100 million subscribers without videos i see it as theyre talking to us as an audience, but ive also been talked down at a lot as a person so maybe my perception of it is jacked. but thats not even really my point? my point is that they have good lore videos, and that i like how they have such a broad presentation of that lore. i could care less about the way fact is delivered, fact is fact, ill judge the teacher later.
When you think about it, they're called Deadric *princes* I always liked to speculate that there could, at some point, have been something along the lines of Deadric Kings, or a differing type of deity along the line of the Princes. Great video as usual Nate :) Keep it up.
It's a Christianity reference to angel hierarchy. Angels, both fallen and holy, have a distinct rank known as Principality, aka the "princes" of each land. This is where you hear about things in the Bible like "The Prince of Persia". Aedra are angels, Deadra are fallen angels, and all the angelic hierarchy that follows.
I found that Imperial Corpse in Solitude while using the mod "Undeath" and playing through the questline to become a Lich and I assumed it was part of the mod,as you can get what is esentially The TMNT's Sewer Lair for Necromancers and thought it was part of the mod as it's told through notes and journals that you aren't the first necromancer to inhabit that lair and I thought it was just part of the mod as a nice little detail
Ramis Google acc Hmm, I don’t know, it’s very hard to tell. I think maybe they thought it was part of the mod but it’s not very clear. Could be they thought it was part of the mod.
Late and gay but this was likely modded. As someone who still remembers launch skyrim for ps3 I can say with confidence nothing that specific would be in any baseline ES game.

Meh, DnD is kind of overrated. I respect it as an Rpg, one of the biggest ones and oldest surely. I just don't dig it much. My ex bf probably has a lot to do with that to be fair. Maybe the Mysterious Imperial was actually the first victim of the necromancer in Meridias temple. Maybe in the first drafts of Skyrim, he held Meridias beacon that began the quest in the first place, rather than in being in some randomly spawned chest in the game (but this ultimately changed in the final version of the game by the developers for some reason).
Dont know what I'm proud of more.. My 10 year old passing all his classes with A's. Or the fact he is 60 hours into skyrim and has built 2 homes, married and has never taken an arrow to the knee. :)
Pertaining to Nettlebane, I think that the dagger itself is made from a plant, but shaped and sharpened into a blade. And I think it was made back when the Eldergleam came to be, making it as old and the only other thing that could harm the Eldergleam. And since it is a mix of these things, it's the perfect weapon to use against Spriggans.
I can't believe I've never seen that desecrated corpse and skeever before. It seems like it's kinda hard to miss and I'm usually pretty thorough with exploring... Skyrim really is a massive game full of mysteries
Mystery 1: How is Nazeem always so early? This secret is hidden in the cloud district. But you never go there anyway... Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh, what am I saying.. Of course you don’t.
The lore from Morrowind onward is absolutely insane, you could probably spend your entire life looking into it and still not know everything about the games. Like, the lore answers questions no one would ever even think to ask, like, they even give the information as to why it’s a video game with the whole Dreamer nonsense. It’s off the walls insane and I love it.
I seem to recall that the Argonians worship something called Hist-trees, which allegedly have strange abilities. Could the Eldergleam be one of them? Anyone who knows more about this?
I'm quite sure that the Gildergreen/Eldergleam quest was written in reminiscence of Tolkien; how Aragorn finds the last sapling of the white tree and plants it in the Citadel for the old, withered tree.
The main problem with this theorytheory is that Followers of KyneKyne revere the Gilder/Eldergleam, as Kyne created them. Kyne did not create the Hist however so...
I LITERALLY didn't even know you could get a sapling, I thought that was a mod..... I must be terrible, I always got the sap from stabbing the Gildergreen 😭
William Burkey the pilgrim that follows you there from Whiterun has to make it there alive. Then when you chop a couple of roots he will offer the alternative.
It isn’t easy getting him there since he’s unarmed, unarmored, and weak as hell. He can even be killed by lowest tier enemies like skeevers or wolves, so I prefer to go there before I go back to Whiterun to get the quest to go to the cave so I can fast travel him there. I don’t like fast traveling, but it’s the few cases I’m willing to do it.
Food for thought : The eldergreen is a cousin from the hist trees of Black Marsh. The Soul Cairn was teleported from Nirn, not built as it is. (Also, objects can come through as we see with Jiub's opus). And Word Walls appeared in Solstheim too. Maybe Duurnevir had this one built for him by skeleton minions.
If you have the Konahrik's accoutrements mod you could also get a clay mask at an ancient ruin where you can get a clay mask that works like the Elder Scroll from the main quest when you find little time distortion things. It's a cool mod and it only takes like 30 minute to finish
With the third mystery, it looks like the skeever and the Imperial guard are near a manhole. Could it be that the imperial was holding a torch too near the sewer entrance and got torched by a pocket of methane that happened out of the sewer? Alternately, it could've been a murder done by the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood with the skeever left as a means of coverup.
I could scream its the first time i ever understood where this damn place for the masks is exactly located and the only character i have all masks with is my first on Skyrim Goty PS3 which broke yesterday... Well now i have a new goal... Get this masks on the switch too...
The mysterious imperial could be a reference to the black plague, seeing as how it was transferred from rat to human. It's very possible that they used the skeever which is the closest thing to a rat in skyrim, as the carrier.
My thoughts on the skeever and body in Solitude is that Malkoran originated from Solitude and that dude was the first unwilling participant. The skeever just got attracted to the evil and got killed for it's troubles. Of course the shade was immediately killed because it's in the middle of a city and Malkoran proceeded to desecrate Meridias temple
I think it has to do with the dadric gods and some ofher things too maybe they got too close to doing something or figure something out and were delt with
You know in like lord of the ringd the dwarves in that cave all died due to that demon thingy where gandalf makes his most iconic quote you shall not pass
the word wall in the Soul Carin might have something to do with Durnivir, considering word walls also have something to do with a Dragon's power, and since Dirnivir (I may have spelled this wrong twice) teaches Soul Tear to you that might be what it was for.
The real mystery is why Neloth isn't missing Mehrunes' Razor! He should have said something about owning it ones when the Player is holding it in front of him... perhaps with a salty remark about others attempting to steal from his collection all the time. xD He in general should have had more dialogue hinting at his time as councilor I think. Otherwise, I assume he isn't into chitchatting and stuff like that. After all, he is far too busy for even just thinking about the Raven Rock list!
"Throw another log on the fire and let's begin." **puts a log in the fire** Now how did he know I had a warm roaring fire for my own use... more important question: where is that body?
Great video as always. Regarding the word wall i think it could have been the one for the Dragonrend shout in a previous age of Tamriel. I look forward to another 5 unsettling Skyrim mysteries video. Keep safe, regards Gary.
Pretty sure you can store stuff in the urns at the past version of that mask sanctuary. I have a theory that the Dragonborn is teleported to the same point in time there (after you retrieve the mask, of course). My theory goes on to suggest that the wooden mask was constructed just as the Dragon dominion was collapsing, as a method to usher in a leader all the revived priests would follow; the concept behind the mask during its time is similar to the High King and his position among the Jarls.
Oh, I know! Let's ask the Dragon Priests about the wooden mask! :) Oh wait, I already killed them all and took their masks. :/ Oh wait, I Soul Trapped them all, so they'll be in the Soul Cairn! :) Oh wait, they're all mad at me because I Soul Trapped them all, and now they're stuck in the Soul Cairn. :/

Remember he willingly traveled to the soul cairn in order to deal with the ideal masters and improve upon his necromancy, and he did this thousands of years prior when dragons still roamed the land
Getting into the Soul cairn requires a portal and even an offering of some part of the caster for it to activate, such as with Valerica's portal which needed her blood
If this is Durnevhiers word wall, as dragons do seem to be bound to them, if not just for a place to roost, then it could have a component of how he traveled to the soul cairn
Valerica's portal is clearly not the only way to reach the dimension of the ideal masters, and the delicate practise of alchemy doesn't look like something a dragon can really master
The word walls are inscribed with shouts along with epitaphs, and they do hold a power within the words scrawled into the rock
That could likely be the way in which he opened a portal to the soul cairn, perhaps by making the word wall a portal itself
And because he's trapped there and had been for thousands of years, the portal has long since closed and is now derelict and half-buried into the desolate lands

This is even funnier if you have seen the Senile Scribbles.
Another unsettling mystery:
Where did this dude in the quest in cydna mine in markath hid the shiv he gives us and do we wanna touch it?
I think we all know the answer to this one...
And are we not gonna talk about the fact mages can just obliterate everyone in Cidnah Mine? They need those bracers that were basically handcuffs from morrowind.
I don’t think I’d ever hide something sharp and/or pointy in there, and neither would anyone else. He probably has it tucked away under the waist of his pants.
@@dana0hara This is what I expect to see on reddit... Definitely not on here though...
The Eldergleam might be an offshoot of The Hist or maybe have some connection to Kyne?
More likely Kyne than the Hist; if it was a Hist Tree it'd look far different and would have more Argonians drawn to it.
“The leaves have begun whittling”
Laughed so hard at that! I think you meant wilting, but picturing some flowers whittling is glorious
The mystery of how Nate still finds all this time, and how he keeps me interested! Awsome content!
Arudanel as it is, the word wall in (I can’t spell this right) savohguard is the dragonborns in my opinion.
Very interesting theory.

Theory about the Wooden Mask:
what if it’s actually an artifact of Akatosh, and its ability is to harness the power of a dragonbreak within a specific space, likely chosen by Akatosh himself.
@@Nova-jw6ju The teacher is arguably the most important part in learning.
Another mystery: why are children immortal
The children are in life's free trial phase.
Because the game creators got attacked by anti child abuse activists when they were gonna let the kids be able to die so they had to change it
Jordan Brendmoen muh pixels on a screen, can’t have that

When you think about it, they're called Deadric *princes* I always liked to speculate that there could, at some point, have been something along the lines of Deadric Kings, or a differing type of deity along the line of the Princes. Great video as usual Nate :) Keep it up.
They might have a king if you count Padomay (i think that's the right one).
The real mystery:
Does Nate even have a life? Or does he just live to find Skyrim info for us?
Yes
He does and has both.
Eh, Fallout stuff too
Does he live to make us content?

I wouldn't wonder if the world wall in the soul cairn has to do something Durnehviir. To mock him even more.
That desiccated corpse in Solitude was a snack for Sybille Stentor.
Tarlo The Boar did u think it was part of the mod?

Sooo...was it part of the mod? Legit killing me to know.

“Their grubby little supernatural hands” - that line killed me! Haha 😂 Comedy Gold!
I like to think they were going to do something with the sewer drains and that he was murdered
the sewer hole is the exit of the escape route out of solitude prison.
Your Skyrim videos inspired me to finally make a new character and try out quests I blew off the last time I played through, thanks for that :)
Could that have been Durnehviir's word wall at some point?

@@jamiestewart48 Makes sense, Whiterun is an amalgamation of Minas Tirith and Edoras.
I think this is the first time in a long while i learnt something new from Nates videos, I never knew you could pray for a new sapling.
I always get the sap anyways, unmodded skyrim causes the new tree to never grow if you get the seedling so you get stuck with the sick one.
He may have been in Heavy armor but, he's No Match for a Winking Skeever!
I have over 200 hours of gameplay in Skyrim and he still surprise me every-time

Another unsettling mystery: I have a friend in real life named Nate who has almost the exact same voice, but who is a different guy.
Food for thought :
The eldergreen is a cousin from the hist trees of Black Marsh.
The Soul Cairn was teleported from Nirn, not built as it is. (Also, objects can come through as we see with Jiub's opus). And Word Walls appeared in Solstheim too. Maybe Duurnevir had this one built for him by skeleton minions.
Always love the way you say "Soul Karen".
DyCherii
Soul Karen: “hi, yes I want to speak with your Reaper, please”
They dont have souls
That manhole is the exit of the escape route out of Solitude prison.
I don’t know why, but your videos give me so much serotonin and I just wanted to thank you for making quarantine a bit better
>Unsettling mysteries
>This tree is really old and self aware
Wot?
My thoughts on the skeever and body in Solitude is that Malkoran originated from Solitude and that dude was the first unwilling participant. The skeever just got attracted to the evil and got killed for it's troubles. Of course the shade was immediately killed because it's in the middle of a city and Malkoran proceeded to desecrate Meridias temple

The real mystery is why Neloth isn't missing Mehrunes' Razor!
He should have said something about owning it ones when the Player is holding it in front of him... perhaps with a salty remark about others attempting to steal from his collection all the time. xD

The origins of the wooden mask? Hmm, I wooden't know...
