Laotian food is so comforting. Thank you for visiting Laos, Mark! This is so sincere and professional. You ate Lao food for Lao food, I am impressed you did not compare it to Thai food. So professional! Everything looked delicious.
I’m half Laotian and I grew up eating my grandmas food, she always told me how Laos was and how she wants to take me to visit one day. I’m so happy to watch this video it makes me more excited to go visit!
No, Laotians don't eat dogs. That is one of the religious sins in our culture that prohibits us to eat certain animals. Vietnamese ppl who lived there and have their own villages around there mostly do sell and eat dogs. Not all Asians eat what others eat. Thank you
Mark, you show respect for the people, their food and their customs. It is more than for. It is an introduction into their lives.. Absolutely wonderful,
I am a Malaysian. Love Laos, went there many times, and enjoyed food prepared by locals with the same appreciation, super appetising!!! Only one difference, I dont see the use of ajinomoto, this lady must have converted to use less or no ajinomoto.
it's really nice watching your vids. Growing up as a Laotian in California, my parents always stuck to their traditions. I grew up eating the foods in this vids, and these dishes are actually my mom's favorites. That lady also reminds me of my mother too. My family eat the same way in this video too...on the floor, although we had a dinner table.
Kev. Im lao born in IL but moved to WI, ive been making sticking rice and haew since i was 12 and my moms like “ pen yang mak gin phet thon sao” lol my go too whenever i feel home sick to moms cooking. My dad usually makes fish and laarb pa
Mark, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. My mom is from Laos. These videos help me understand the culture my mom came from! Food has always been a difficult topic for me, especially since I cannot eat spicy food! I feel more connected whenever I watch your videos!
Hello Mark, I wish nothing but the best to you, your wife, your beautiful son and extended families. I myself am not able to travel. Your video's make me feel like i am right there with you guys. I have the same love of food as you do (well close anyway) and believe your video's are among the the best i have ever seen. Keep up your great work Mark. Peace and love, Dale from Canada
McChopper 2000 I think she was implying that Mark doesn’t sound fake about his sponsors. Some people come off extremely fake or as if they don’t use the product themselves, just trying to make a profit only. Mark seemed like he legitimately enjoyed this sponsor and even referenced his last audio book.
Not only Salivating but Your contents are a TRUE blessing ! This gave me more of a personal glimpse of life of the people of my roots and couldn't help but laugh cause understanding the language is so natural to me and seeing it else where is crazy. I'm Canadian born, so my background is alot of wonders for me! Thank you Mark!
The special thing of this video is you can see how Lao people cooks, the foods look simple, but a lot of small herbs mixed in them, Fantastic experience
Mark i always watch your videos while eating , i have never missed a single video of yours. You're an institution for me. I am also a food Blogger and learning from you each and every day i just want to thank you for the blessings you're giving us all. LOVE AND RESPECT FROM PAKISTAN 💕💕
Mark Wiens oh my God thank you for your reply i am feeling like flying in the sky. My love and respect for you and your work has doubled. Thank you for everything 💕 i will remember your words and will work hard. But i am nothing about Mark Weins !!
My family of three watch you Everytime Marc. We are a little Samoan family in San Diego. Our daughter is 5yrs old and loves Maika. Thanks for showing us the beauties of the world and the reading material. "Language of Foods". Alofa atu. God bless.
yes Jeff. When I was a young man I traveled much. Most of Europe, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Costa Rica, Mexico, etc,, but yes...now I have a family, and responsibilities(ickkk dirty word!) and can no longer do it. I loved it and learned more then I would ever learn in a class. I learned that people are the same people no matter where you go.
Mark, I had never seen an actual village before. I have worked in the Laotian community in Philadelphia; they have told me about the mountains and villages, until now I could only imagine. Thank You!
Mark's eating and diet habit is enjoying foods with well balance. Sticky rice with lots of veggies. More importantly, walk around after meals 😋👍👍👍👍 big thanks.
I like how you're not picky when it comes to food, you are a survivor. Thumbs up for trying out the Lao traditional food, sitting on the floor and eating off the Pa Kao much respect👏👍
Is always nice to see my mom homeland. Thanks for all the food tour. You are so awesome Mark. Many blessing to you and your family whever you maybe heading to.
I enjoy watching you and the food you explore. Love learning the different traditions people prepare meals in other countries. I am so intrigued with the lady preparing all those meals. So authentic, amazing and humble. 5 stars for this video. FYI I'm addicted to watching your videos, look forward to it everyday. Its a bit of a relaxing thing for me. You have a wonderful family and my husband and I love how down to earth and genuine you are. Thanks Mark Weins, need more people like you. 🙏
I was there last week. I really liked it. Will definitely go back again. It’s laidback, it’s relaxing, the people are friendly, the food is great. Not sure what more is needed. Great job Vientiane!
Mark, your positive energy and enthusiasm is infectious 😊 you’re also very respectful of other cultures. One of the best food travel reviewers on UA-cam 💯!
Lao food is soooooooo amazing!!! It's so flavorful and super spicy! There are so many herbs and spices used for seasoning. I love that it's so fresh! There's this Thai restaurant in LA called Night+Market Song and they have Lao food on their menu. My mouth is salivating watching you eat all that!!!
My treatment for me when I'm depressed is looking at your videos and recognising the simplicity that life can and should have. It's about watching the process of cooking and the simplicity of these people's lives and that being "good enough" not worried about career and money and possessions. And that's why I find it a beautiful reminder to myself, that to exist and do day to day things like cooking healthy meals for your family, is within itself therapy and what "life" should really be about xx
Lol I like how the cook smiles slightly while ol' boy is moaning and loving her food. I get so much joy from seeing and hearing people enjoy the food I cook.
I am half thai who living in Thailand, my country is near Lao but I have never been there before and don't know about Lao culture much as you . You motivate me to visit my neighbor country. … This video make me feel hungry although I had a dinner.

Hello, i am a Lao women. I am abit curious about your comments. As your comment, have you tried the food which cooked by wood? It is the traditional and unique taste!
You could not be more wrong most of the food was cooked by a bowl of water and flavored inside
Of course the wood can make the difference...But lao food is unique because they used a lot of fresh vegetable. Ingredient made the difference.
