  • If you want a spectacular New England experience, then you have to ride the East Bay Bike Path. The path was inducted into the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame in 2009 and the route is one of the most popular trails in Rhode Island. This trail 14 mile paved rail trail runs from Providence to Bristol, Rhode Island; and offers bikers stunning views of Narrangansett bay and marinas as it wanders past coves and marshes, weaves in and out of neighborhoods and connects to several parks and conservation areas. It's a very popular trail and one that is certain to have something for everyone -- you are always close to amenities on this trail!
Our ride took place on June 21, 2023.

Living about 12 mile from the Bristol end of the East Bay Bike path, I have ridden it at least 70 times (from end to end, and back...) It's my personal FAVORITE in All of Southern New England !!! Far BETTER that others, like the Cape Cod Rail Trail.... (that one is NOT as scenic, except for a few areas) .... Or the Blackstone path that is quite Hilly in spots..... And The East Bay path offers plenty of "food & drink" spots along the way ..... There is even 2 Bike shops along side the path 👌👍

I did the ride once on my regular pedal bike, and want to do it again with my e-bike but I'm not sure...
In my state (CT) and most surrounding states (NY, MA, VT, NH) e-bikes are allowed on most rail trails.
I heard that e-bikes are not allowed on rail trails RI but it's not technically enforceable by police, so I've been avoiding RI on my e-bike rides just to be safe.
Do you see lots of e-bikes on the trail? Would it be okay to bring my e-bike or should I wait for the new laws (which I hear are being debated and are coming soon)?

Just my opinion, but I wouldn’t worry about riding your ebike on any trail. As you indicated, it’s highly unlikely anyone is monitoring the trails. I think that if one rides respectfully it doesn’t matter what you are riding - no one is going to bother you. BTW; I’m busy looking at the trail ahead, so I don’t often notice what other riders are on. But I do see a fair number of ebikes everywhere.

I'm in a conundrum....watch the vid for the ride or whatever you're partaking of for lunch!!!! I'm kinda glad you had that flat and videoed it as we are gonna do the North Bend Trail starting the 17th.....and yes I will get some stuff for the tires and have a big a$$ed flashlight so Nancy doesn't get scared in the Haunted Tunnels!!!! Great vid, keep em coming.

Hi Don -- that lobster sandwich was fantastic! The tuna was exceptional as well. I could have sat there all day as there were so many good things on the menu! But we had to cycle back to the car. North Bend sounds like fun - can't wait to hear about it. I just bought a bright extra light because we are likely riding through a couple of tunnels more than a mile long soon!!!

Hey, great to see you guys back in Rhode island again! Too bad about the flat, but at least you were pretty close to the end of the ride. Slime and Flat Out are probably the two most popular tire sealants. I'm not sure if Flat Out has a version for tires with inner tubes though. I know slime does so that's what I use. In my experience it will get you home but you'll still have to fix or replace the tube later.
As for the trail, that's definitely one of the best in the state. I think I still like the Blackstone River trail a little better, it has far fewer street crossings and no annoying detours. Both beautiful trails though!

The flat meant we didn't get to the Air Line Trail -- but it was good that it happened in an area where we could easily get help. Thanks for the info on the tire repair options. We hope to "see" you again on our next adventure.

Hi. We live in Upstate NY. Up until a few months ago we were both working, so our bike trips were limited to the Mid-Atlantic, New England area. We just completed a 40 day road trip out west so we will be highlighting trails from Wisconsin to Washington over the next 7 months. One week ago we posted Colorado’s Glenwood Canyon trail. This Sunday the Olympic Discovery Trail in Washington will go live. Thanks for watching.

Don't feel too bad about the flat tire with no patch and pump. I recently had a cut into the sidewall from a rock that I couldn't fix with a patch. Call it what you will, stuff just happens you can't do anything about.

We are not full time UA-camrs. It is just a hobby. But we do enjoy finding new bike paths to ride and get out as often as we can. We just completed a 40 day trip across the country with about 13 new trail rides. We will be publishing them over the next 6-8 months.

    Ebikes are simply motorcycles.

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  6 місяців тому +2

It's unfortunate there are so many misconceptions out there about ebikes. Calling e-bikes simply motorcycles is like comparing a scooter to a spaceship - both cool, but totally different. Sure, they both have wheels and engines, but that's where the comparison ends. I know there are people out on the trails that have gas engine "ebikes" -- but that is not what we ride. Our bikes do not have a throttle and the electric assistance augments our pedaling effort -- if we don't pedal the bike doesn't move.

    • @thepaintingbiker

Hard to say a one horsepower bike is a motorcycle- A push lawn mower is more powerful.

@@Adventuresonebikes I feel e bikes have a place but from my experience they are going way too fast. I don't think e bikers realize just how fast they are going. And they are barely pedaling.
