I agree with Woonsocket. But, I haven't lived in Rhode Island for a couple decades. But, that last few times I've been back, Providence has grown up and is geourgious. I lived there in the 70s and 80s, it was horrible then. I also appreciate the history now I'm an adult.

Yes, near New York, if you consider being on the other side of Connecticut from New York to be considered near. I get it. The states in this part of the country are smaller and, therefore, closer to one another. Bottom line, it is located in New England and bordered by Massachusetts and Connecticut. I'm not sure, but I've never heard of any other Rhode Island elsewhere. I guess I've never thought to look up whether another one exists before.

@@Wetzelpretzels The beach in Misquamicut, Westerly is as good as any in the State. We are blessed with an abundance of excellent beaches, and I would say some of the best along the East Coast. People come from far and wide to use our beaches - from around the country and even from Canada.
I won't deny your experience, but there are much worse places you could be living in the US. There is a lot to appreciate about living here. I say that after having lived a third of my life in Hawaii. There's no comparison between them from my experience, but it's still not horrible - just not Hawaii.
