Not So Scary After All - Biking the East Coast Greenway

- In fall of 2021, I set off on a bikepacking trip from Calais, Maine. 29 days and 3,000 miles of incredible experiences later, I reached Key West, Florida! Here is my story :)

Listener beware, I did not do a good job with sound editing and the music is way too loud

I think this is the best video I've seen so far on the topic of long distance riding. To the point and kept one's attention. Inspiring.
Wow, you watched the video to completion and that's you're take-away.. Bet you are fun at parties.
You have inspired me!
Outstanding :)
As a long distance cyclist for over 50 years, I was deeply touched by this video. Well done - it communicates what bike touring is all about: “The sights, the sounds and the way you feel, when the world expands from a spinning wheel” (from a poem I wrote after one ride in 1974)
I highly recommended reading “The Handsomest Man In Cuba”, a very entertaining account of Lynette Chiang’s solo bike ride around Cuba.
Thank you so much for your kind words and book recommendation - I've ordered it and cannot wait to read!
Great job and great video!
Wow, great job and excellent video!
good vid ....holding down the spot .....peace . ....
Wonderful video and storytelling!
My favourite part of this was when you showed you have friends in half the cities on the eastern seaboard, and then still described yourself as an introvert.
Also, great work, this is legitimately really impressive
RIGHT! LOL
This used to be called a lie.
@@sweetpadreIntrovert doesn’t mean you don’t have friends, it means being around people drains you and you need recharge time. As well as being more okay with being alone. It doesn’t mean you’re anti social
Wow! Congratulations! Well done video too

Very nice video so inspiring ❤
That’s was incredible
Wow! Great respect for you!
A hundred and forty miles on the first day with no training? Acadia Maine is ten miles from the Canadian border. I have ridden about 45 miles in one day without training and I can tell you toward the end of the trip I didn't want to sit on that bike seat any longer, let alone get up the next day and do twice the mileage. Bar Harbor is an island. Twenty miles in two hours is hardly rolling, you have to be doing 10 miles an hour, with no brakes, in traffic. I can't watch anymore, it is a great story. I love how you are biking in northern Maine in late September without a jacket. Pawtucket RI in the rain, no rain jacket, late September, wow, that had to be extremely cold. Can you say hypothermia? Great story.
Yes and when it rains & one is riding even in the summer months it gets cold, how she was able to endure it without a raincoat is amazing, 140 miles with little training amazing too, She can easily compete in Ironman .
Interesting that she said 3000 miles the route she took is around 2300-2400 miles the reason they say 3000 is because they include other routes like the Buffalo NY, still to do 2400 miles nonstop in 30 days for someone that has not trained or has not done long bike rides prior is amazing but a bit questionable but either way many seem to have loved her story & that's what it is all about www.google.com/search?q=calais+maine+to+key+west+florida&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS881US881&oq=Calais%2C+Maine+to+Ke&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgBECEYoAEyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIGCAUQIRgV0gEJMTIxNzhqMGo5qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chro

You rock!! That is an amazing adventure I’d love to try!!
I'm very impressed.
Impressive solo trip! Think I have the same tent, bought for biking. Best rain tent I ever had. None gets in!!
Great video. Congrats!
What an awesome video
Thanks for pronouncing Bangor correctly! People rarely do. Glad you did this. I ride the Portand to Saco sections frequently. Want to peddle this completely some day before the end.
Thanks for watching! Ah, I had to have a few people correct me on "Bangor" and "Calais" before I got it right :)
i am so proud of you!!
Very inspirational :)
thanks for the amazing trip, awesome to watch
I live in florida and my cousin and i had this idea to bike all the way to new york and i found this video
We’re planning to set off on august and i cant wait thanks to this video i think we can better prepare our trip
Congrats to your achievement.
I have done a 4,000 mile bike trip from Germany to Portugal and back, a 6,000 mile trip from Germany to Turkey and back and a 10,000 mile trip from L.A. to Alaska and back. All in 1988 thru 1992. I now live in the DC area and I have to say that I'm done with riding on roads. I would love to do the east coast greenway or a trip across the country from west to east. This is too dangerous IMHO. Now its gravel trails and MTB for me.
And way more dangerous than ever with the texting & screens on the dashboard
Great Video!
This is great!!!
Excellent storytelling, excellent video editing, powerful takeaways and one heck of a bike ride. This might be one of my favorite UA-cam videos of all time. Thanks for sharing the journey so transparently. I think it really captured what “type 2 fun” is all about. Your story will serve as an inspiration for many to get on a bike and to also appreciate life. It did for me. Thanks Regina!
Haha thanks Alex!! Definitely type 2 fun... maybe next trip will be cross country to you and SF friends...?
I very much agree with you... Very well done in editing.. and your voice is perfect for narrating/voice-over
@@reginayan Great video and great adventure. Only small problem i noticed is that music is sometimes way louder than voice (around 8 min) makes hard to hear what you are saying. But overall great video keep it up :)
@@filipmustic5677 I agree. I thought it was just me. And CC wasn't available. Still loved the video!
Thank you for this video.
You are so strong!!! Incredible!

Thank you for sharing your journey. You are very inspiring. The algorithm brought me to you and I’m glad it did! Initially, I thought it brought me to another Regina Yan whom I worked with years ago.
