A fun scene with newly regenerated Melody Pond and the Doctor.
I edited it a bit to create a more episodic theme about it.
Oh, and I know that Melody doesn't actually kill The Doctor, but I figure that title is as much as a red herring as "Let's Kill Hitler" was.

There's two things about this episode I liked, one being the Mels/River twist, the other being the scene where she's being flirtatious whilst trying to bump him off. Overall River is one of the best characters in Dr Who yet.
River here seems colder than Mels did. I wonder if that's a regeneration thing, or just her programming kicking in now that the time to kill the Doctor has come.
Maybe the conditioning had an easier time to kick in because Melody, like all Time Lords, takes a while to brake in the new body format?
It’s a regeneration thing. Each Regen of the Doctor has a different personality from the last.
Well when you also think about it she hasn’t fallen in love with him yet. The only thing she wants is to kill him. So the later River isn’t as cold becasue she’s been changed by the doctor. She loves him. She’s a different woman then. I mean she even says “I’m not a marriage person.” And then goes on to marry The Doctor.

Edit: apparently moffat also wrote the comedy sketch "The Curse of Fatal Death" which had a similar sequence

"You are not a psychopath" 2:58 Can't help wondering who Amy was so desperate to reach here - her (formally a baby) daughter, her good friend Mels, or her best friend's girlfriend River. Yes, they're all the same person, but you can hear how emotional Amy was, and I can't help wondering what she was thinking/feeling here.

Watch Amy at 2:12 she is totally giving River the classic "mom" look too bad it's River and it has no effect lol

Well to be fair it's a lot to take in at once! Their baby that was kidnapped (only a few months ago in their timelines), their childhood best friend, and the murderer imprisoned in Stormcage they know ends up getting together with the Doctor is all the same person. Also they don't have any parental feelings toward River Song, so seeing her in that body probably doesn't help.
Mels/River Song regenration, didn't see that coming.

I just realized something.
Melody Pond and River Song both have in their name something music related. Melody and Pond, and Song and River
It's explained in the episode before this: River Song is the backtranslation of Melody Pond translated into the language of the people of the Gamma Forest.
We need more back story's like this with great twists at the end of a season or episode in doctor who today..... like if u agree

@@hrzmann I haven't bothered delving into Chibnall, for me Doctor Who ended with Capaldi. Sure, feel free to spoil me on how it has fallen!
@@DivineDefect, well. The Doctor was a child from another dimension, who was able to regenerate. Galifreian scientist replicated his DNA and inserted to herself and other galifreians, who then became Timelords. This is current canon, which contradicts River Song plotline and also makes our Doctor special not because of his morale and decisions, but because of his genesis, genes, essence. To be special you have to be born special, Chibnall says.
