Owned both. After using the silver for some time, the red felt a bit heavier to press. But, after using the red for some time, it gets back to normal. Not really a big difference tbh.
Kinda, really if you single tap slow on reds, thats the first thing you will notice. Also, i noticed i cant really keyspam as well going back to reds ;0
when I got speed switches my stamina and finger-control improved a shit ton in just two months without me even practicing either of them. I switched from Romer-G's tho so the difference in the switches was a lot bigger
I'd imagine lol, what do you think after about 2 months? You liking yours? Only issue i have is typing is really aids as you fart on the keys and you type 3 characters.
VelocityFTW I don’t have anything bad to say about the switches myself, for gaming they feel pretty much perfect and I type pretty slow so my only issue while typing is miss clicking and thats just because of my shitty hand/finger coordination
Recently picked up my first keyboard with mx silvers back in January this year, first day I used them I was already playing better, I was also able to stream a lot easier on these, the only problem for me is that they are costly, this keyboard set me back $133, good price but normally it was almost $200 AUD, gotta love the Christmas sales. All in all I recommend silvers over reds. Again, they are costly
I know this is an old video but here is my thought on the cherry silver switches. So I have been using a mechanical numpad with cherry mx speed switches for a while now, and man I can gladly say that it is worth it. I was a full on alternator, but transitioned to single tapping with my middle finger (which to me helps get those stacked circles faster). The fast actuation really helps with fast paced beatmaps when you dont bottom out the keys. On jump maps, the same thing applies, where you can do huge, fast jumps with not bottoming out. Overtime, I have climbed over 600 thousand ranks (800k to 150k) and I still continue to improve. A big plus of having speeds is that you develop a really good finger control habit which helps with accuracy. To me the only con was price obviously but was it worth? Yeah, I can say it definitely did.
something ive found is that when changing switches, it takes quite some time to get the right rhythm back. i switched from some crap keyboard that i still dont know which switches were on, to browns, and i think that since the actuation point was nearer, or the force needed to press the key, made me click early and i couldnt acc right at all for a while. idk im not well informed on these things, just an observation :p
thats legit the best video for me rn xD im about to buy a new keyboard and i didnt know if I should get the speed switches or the red switches... *going to buy the speed switches, already hyped af*
I upgraded from membrane to speed switches and it makes a world of difference for me. I have never felt keys as instant as those. Its just FAR easier to jump and stream and It takes a lot longer before I loose my stamina. I have always been used to non-tactile keys which is why I choose it, and I don't regret it. Only problem is that its a bit too sensitive at times, like sometimes I would accidentally lightly press my finger on a key and it actuates, but I got used to it and I don't get that problem now. I heard reds have that problem anyways.
I used silver switches for a while, but the main thing I noticed was I had considerably less stamina compared to red switches, BUT I was much much more consistent. However, that keyboard wore out in about 5-6 months of daily circle clicking.
honestly silver switches are just harder to use because it makes me actuate 2 keys when I only want to actuate 1 so I have less control compared to reds. I bottom out so silvers are actually helping me with stamina due to the heavier gf to bottom out but I still actuate 2 keys instead of 1 leaving me to get constant 50's in streams and stuff. singletapping doesnt feel any different as well
i am using blue switches and i have to say after some months of training i learned the exactly the release points and i can single tap almost twice as fast as i can with any other switches including silver. I have to say that i am a 6 digit player so my bpm is that high so just consider it a major improvement in gameplay for me.
My only complaint is the typing is absolutely garbage. Maybe it's because I'm a shitty, slow typer, but damn they're bad for that. But I 100% agree on single tap speed. I have a weak left hand, so I can only stream 180 (but burst up to 220), but these did help a little when I got used to them. Sadly, I can only alternate off sliders, so high bpm jumps are hell for me still.
Thanks for posting this two years ago! No one explains SPEED switches (Silver). YThey all talk about blue/brown/red but not silver-speed. (trying to buy a corsair K95 and amazon today - they offer Speed or Brown)
I've tried both and I'd like have a switch that is in between mx silver and red. The closest match would be kailh box red switches. It has a 45g actuation force at 1.8mm and 3.6mm bottom out. It is also WAY more smoother than a cherry mx switch.
So something I've been doing is utilizing the fact that I have a Razer Tartarus laying around and using the thumbpad (The spacebar on the hardware) as my new key. It's actuated by a microswitch, like on a mouse click, and is a wide enough paddle that you can still double-tap it. Aside from those touch-sensitive plates, that's the next best thing for lowering reaction times on your clicks. I'm still surprised people aren't taping down a second mouse and using the clicks on that as keystrokes.
Ive ordered the kaihua speed silvers from Massdrop, for my new keyboard, gonna be a great change from my crappy laptop , when im using headphones I cant even tell when im clicking and totally lose track of where ivam in a stream.
You know that laptop keyboards are technically faster than mechanical keyboards right? They save the most stamina as they don't require a lot of force to activate, and they travel the least distance, so they are twice as fast as speed switches.
What are you on about dude? Most laptops have a 2mm travel and actuation point. While speeds only need 1.2mm to actuate. Not to mention you don’t have to press a mechanical switch all the way down to register a keystroke, something you have to do on laptop keyboards. Granted not all laptop keyboards are the same, but most fall into what I just said. That’s not even mentioning how soggy laptop keyboards feel, especially how quickly they degrade
@@VelocityFTW well I didn't know, all my laptops have always felt easier and faster to press than any other regular/mechanical keyboards I have tried. Sry.
Not really. On paper absolutely but in practice I still bottom out all the time so it just makes me early. Any keyboard works as long as its not membrane after trying mania with many switches. Just whatever feels the best
As a network engineer I love to use my DasKeyboard Cherry MX Blue Pro. It gives me a great feel and feedback, plus I get to annoy the hell out of people with the loud clicks, lol. I wonder how loud the silver speed switches are and how prone to fat fingering would I be due to their sensitivity. Currently I type at 72wpm.
You can fart on the keys and register a keypress lol, so many mistypes.. I don't recommend for typing in the slightest, not bad for everything else tho :3

VelocityFTW OK thanks
@@VelocityFTW ik it's this is a year old but for CSGO do you think you would pick speeds or reds? i have a friend trying to tell me reds are way better because you need travel distance to counterstrafe but i would assume since the return is much lower you would be faster to counterstrafe.
And I’m here with blue switches because im broke and needed any mechanical keyboard for osu ;-;
can i buy only 2 silver switch ?
I still have a membrane keyboard, I play around 5.5 stars and never touched a mechanical in my life. Is there noticeable difference between membrane and mechanical?
It depends on the quality of the membrane but usually for most people mechanical keyboards are better
Don't listen to anyone else the difference is massive no matter what you use your keyboard for. It enhances every part of using a computer.

I'm pretty new, but you're telling me people get fancy keyboards and tablets just to play freaking osu? Is there a living people make off of This? Sorry but it seems kinda like a waste of money to get that slight tactical advantagem
Keys boards and tablets can be used for anything. It’s up to the person as to how they want to spend their money. Personally I find that spending $60 on a tablet for osu is useless, but for art etc it’s definitely worth it
Time 2 buy a magic 8-ball I guess :/
Black Outemu best
I play with the Corsair K65 and i have a lot more stamina
