Not necessarily advice, but what I've discovered. If you make a swing with one arm, either arm, I've noticed it looks better and I move more naturally without thinking about it. For whatever reason it seems like your brain recognizes the movement necessary with one arm but short circuits with two. So trying to mimic the one arm feels with two arms has helped me a lot.
Yes! Our bodies do an amazing job at self organizing. One arm you have limited directions of force. Once you add the second (hand) you introduce opposing forces which is good for speed and stability but introduces other things. Thanks for watching I appreciate it! T.J.
I was watching an old video of Nicklaus some time ago and he talked about keeping the weight on the inside of your feet. I have always followed this advice and it has helped me keep a stable base. Keep up the great work your content is really good.
I appreciate the kind words and yes, if you have trouble rotating off the ball correctly it just might help keeping the pressure on the inside of your foot (especially the trail foot). Thank you for watching and I appreciate the kind words! T.J.
My best advice is to focus on and get the setup right. It is the foundation for the entire swing. For me the setup is not always intuitive and I find that when my swing is off, it is probably a setup issue.
So very true Paul. People have a tendency to skip over the "simple" (not that set up is always simple) and go right for the very technical. Good stuff!
The best advice I got was from my Dad.He told me have a good routine set up and put the club behind the ball first and line my body up to my club.Another good video Tj and what I like about your videos is you spend more time teaching than hitting balls and explaining everything in great detail thanks for another good one.
Really enjoying all of your videos and how to present. You can tell you coach players of all types and it comes through. I look forward to all your new episodes.
I’ll give two, both from my father. 1. As a junior my Dad warned me that everyone wants to help a junior, so I will receive lots of unsolicited advice. My Dad told me to thank the advice giver and then go back to my coach’s plan. 2. When chipping, unless there is an obvious challenge (bunker), land the ball as soon as possible and get the ball rolling.
Two gems right there! The first one really resonates with me as I get asked a lot how to handle those situations. You are spot on. Thanks for watching! T.J.
Another great video TJ. All of those concepts are simple but make a ton of sense. I can't remember where I heard this but I have lived by this saying on the course for years. When you get in trouble, get out of trouble. Most of the time I can adhere to it. lol
Great words to play by. In most cases the best course of action is to get yourself back in play when you are in a bit of trouble. Hero shots are fun but most of the time will lead to BIG numbers. Keep at it and thank you for watching and commenting. I greatly appreciate it! T.J.
The best information I agree with. Club up get lessons learn and accept your physical limitations. Practice what you are not that good at. Great information
Thank you for the kind words. Those are words I teach by. I truly believe golfers in general would all play much better following that simple plan. Thank you for watching and commenting. I greatly appreciate it! T.J.
My best advice is that 1) the golf ball doesn’t go straight, it curves, so play the curve 2) golf isn’t a game of perfect, it’s a game of close. If it was a game of perfect. Accept the imperfections and learn how to recover.
Two awesome pieces of advice as they are both very true! I think if everyone truly followed those two rules they would instantly score and play better. Thank you for the input and I greatly appreciate you watching. T.J.
This is something I say all the time. I know I am biased by saying this but this is really really good advice for most players. Extension is a real thing. Too many people stay in flexing too long because the “ball is down there”. Great comment and thank you for watching. I greatly appreciate it. T.J.
The best advice is "you suck" try to suck a little bit less. Too many people want to go from being completely rubbish to a scratch golfer in one go and it just doesn't work like that. There's so many levels to golf, from tour pro to someone who plays 4 times a year and never practices. If you're the latter then you shouldn't be comparing yourself to the former, you shouldn't even compare yourself to a club golfer that plays every week. There needs to be more people on UA-cam telling the truth about how bad most golfers actually are. They're all selling false pretences and wasting viewers times with cliche rubbish and the viewers lap it up because they cant handle the truth.
Great comment! As I say in every video. Everyone is different. Everyone has limitations and restrictions. The goal is to always be improving. Going from a 22 to a 16 could be just like becoming a tour player to that player. Physics are physics. Bio mechanics are biomechanics but players have different limitations. Time, physical issues, skill limitations, emotional and psychological limitations and so on. It makes what I do for a living amazing because each person is different. Had a session today with a year long, once a week student and he dropped 9 shots this year into the single digits. He asked when did I think he was going to become a scratch. I told him I have no clue and that told him the reality that it might never come. I explained why. People don’t suck, they have limitations that prevent them from getting better and skill plateau is one of them. Thanks for watching! T.J.
@TJVGolf great reply, you tubers need to do more to acknowledge people's limitations. So many people BS their comments because they think they're the minority when they're actually the majority.
What is the BEST golf advice you have ever received?
The best advice I got was from my first coach and it was about failure. Learn to fail and you will be alright at this game.
This is a great one. VERY true. Same in life as well.

I agree with middle back yardage. Basically take more club until you see how well your striking your clubs.
It's all math at the end of the day! Point A to point B and respect Point C
Best advice i ever got was "never eat yellow snow"😳🥴
That is in the top 5 of life advice!

Nicklas- Use an intermediate target to line up the club and then your body.
Super advice for most players. The parallax effect is a real thing and this helps defend it from coming to the surface. Thanks for watching! T.J.

Maintain your height throughout the swing. 👍

@ enjoy the in-depth information, many channels don’t give cause and effect 👍
Best tip: stay in balance between heels and balls of feet throughout all kinds of swing... full, pitch, chip, putt, bunker.
Love it!! Balance is KEY! Thank you for your comment and watching. I appreciate it! T.J.
👏👏👍
I never aim at pins...
...next shot aims at pin 😃
