How to hit the driver LONGER with this SIMPLE Impact change
In my 25 years of teaching the game of golf I have been asked more times than I can say, "How can I hit the golf ball further and longer?", "Why do I hit the golf ball so short?". "How do I increase my driving distance?", "How do it generate more power with the golf swing?" and many many more like it. Well the short answer is everyone has different deficiencies that decrease their distance optimization. My goal with every golfer is to get them to optimize how far they hit the golf ball. Even though there are many cause and effects behind lack of distance there is one impact condition that hurts most players. That impact condition is Angle of Attack.
The angle of attack refers to the angle between the clubhead's path and the ground at the moment of impact with the golf ball. A positive angle of attack, where the clubhead moves upward through impact, can help achieve higher launch angles and increased distance, especially with drivers. Conversely, a negative angle of attack, where the clubhead moves downward, can lead to lower trajectories and potential backspin. Understanding and optimizing the angle of attack is crucial for golfers, as it directly influences the ball's flight path and overall performance on the course.
Not only can you hit the golf ball longer optimizing your angle of attack you can also hit the golf ball straighter!

How to HIT MORE GREENS NOW (The secret to understanding your yardages)

Join my Virtual Golf Performance Academy on Patreon - www.patreon.com/tjvalentinegolf One of the MAJOR keys to scoring lower in golf is hitting more greens. This is a statistical fact, no matter what your handicap is. If you have ever asked yourself "how do I hit more greens in regulation?" you might simply not understand your yardages with your irons. The key to hitting more greens lies in und...

    the one thing that always stands out to me is my club face angle to path. I am constantly 5-10 degrees open to my path and the path is typically pretty decent around +-2

      Face control is one of the most challenging pieces of the puzzle. There are many cause and effects related to open face at impact. I just saw your other comment and I’m going to film a video addressing it.

      I couldn’t agree more. Once you establish a baseline it is much easier to make adjustments. It’s tough to make changes without knowing certain info. With LM getting better and more cost effective you will see a lot more dedicated golfers with them at home.

    I was on my first launch monitor recently and learned a lot (I think). I am down with my driver. If I remember correctly -3 and spin was 4000. I feel I leave a lot of distance on the table. Will try this and see. Appreciate the content and the time put into it.

    Excellent explanation. I have had my struggles over the years with balance in my swing. How much do the type of shoes play a role in this? I understand its more of the person but I would assume certain shoes would be helpful? or maybe I'm overthinking.

    • @TJVGolf
      @TJVGolf 14 днів тому

      Most definitely. I stress the nuances of the set up due to the cause and effects. Everyone is still unique due to the nature of our bodies so matchups are still the most important aspect of how the set up relates to the dynamic motion of a player.

      I am glad it helped! I see this "unseen" issue a lot with players. The reason why a lot have a hard time self diagnosing is the fact that most just focus on the upper body when in a lot of cases the lower body is the cause of the upper bodies movements. Keep me updated on your journey!

    • @TJVGolf
      @TJVGolf 22 дні тому

      @@sundaygolfer it is definitely a part of it but there are other factors that change the geometry of impact such as lie angle of the club. When the ball is above your feet the lie angle becomes more upright which points the face more left. Thanks for watching!

    You bring up a lot of great points. I don't think I have ever not thought of my irons going anything other than 1 distance. The point you made about not using a range finder resonates with me. I now just use gps front middle and back to make my club decision. Good video overall and I hope you make more. Side questions. What indoor system are you using?

    • @TJVGolf
      @TJVGolf 27 днів тому

      If every golfer used even basic front middle back yardage data they would naturally make better club choice decisions. I have a uneekor launch monitor in my studio. I also use trackman and flightscope on range and course. Thanks for the comments and questions!
