Unlock effortless power in your golf swing by mastering pressure shift (center of pressure), center of mass, and the momentum arm. Understanding these simple golf physics principles will help you hit your driver longer, create more speed, and maximize distance-especially for senior golfers looking to regain lost yardage.
In this video, you'll discover how to efficiently shift pressure during the swing, optimize your center of mass for better ball compression, and use the momentum arm to generate effortless clubhead speed. These techniques will not only help you hit the golf ball farther, but also improve ball striking, eliminate flipping the wrists, and promote a solid, powerful impact position.
If you struggle with losing distance, inconsistent contact, or weak shots, this is the golf instruction you need. Whether you're looking to increase driver distance, compress the golf ball better, or simply develop a more efficient, repeatable golf swing, understanding these key elements will take your game to the next level.
🔥 What You'll Learn:✅ How pressure shift impacts power & consistency✅ The role of center of mass in generating effortless speed✅ How the momentum arm creates natural lag, speed and potentially better compression

What if I tee it likely too low and still hit the top of the face, sky the ball with way too much spin? What am I doing wrong? My swing speed is around 104, but I only slice a drive barely and if 200 yards.
Thanks for the video, I really enjoy the content, I’m going to watch the “weight shift” video again. Ray
Hi TJ. Love the channel. QQ. When you fall into the lead side do you fall into a part of the lead foot? (i.e. on a horizontal into your toes, or just laterally into the ball of the lead foot?)
TJ, Best science lecture I have heard. I actually paid attention unlike back in high school. What do you suggest for a golfer who has to rush to the tee box when playing a round. Is it best to try and hit a few balls, putt or just stretch? Thank You!
Looks Stack n Tilt ish. Like to see him hit driver.
Just looking at the overview from the camera it seems that you like a pretty much zero path with open clubface rotating around your spine to hopefully square up at impact? Also, from front on it seems you like to maintain head and spine position from setup through to top of swing and starting down again. The extended upper spine tends to look like a reverse pivot.
Thanks for answering my question on here. Fantastic video and very helpful. JD
This was great. Honestly never really knew this. Does it help with rotation overall? Also, what was that stick you were using as the example. TRX?
It does help with rotation as it is one of the technical keys to produce the it. The bar is actually a part of a training tool I use for stretching, strength and over mobility training called GolfForever. I have a link in the description if you want to check it out. Thanks as usual for commenting and watching. I greatly appreciate it! T.J.
Excellent explanation. Thanks

Great explanation. You mention center of pressure and center of mass briefly. Are they different? Should I even care as an average (older) golfer. Enjoying all your content. JD
This is a great question and I will actually address it in a video as I feel everyone can get something out of it. Thanks for asking and watching. I greatly appreciate it! T.J.

My irons are terrible. 7 and 8 go the same distance and can’t hit any irons lower then 7. Take a lot of deep divots
Thanks for sharing. Do you mix in thin shots as well? I appreciate you watching. T.J.
@ occasionally but hardly ever. Mainly way too much turf. But I think part of my problem is I don’t get my hips through very much
Hitting behind ball
Biggest problem. No clubhead speed as senior golfer!
Definitely can be frustrating. How is your overall mobility? Thank you for sharing and watching. I appreciate it. T.J.
You referenced a previously released video which had move drills on how to get better control of club face (released about a month prior to this one) . . . I could not find in the video (Grip from underneath & Hack Motion) or in notes. Would you point me to this video? Thanks again
Hi Rob, thanks for watching. Here is a link to that video. I appreciate it. T.J. How to FINALLY FIX an OPEN CLUB FACE in your GOLF SWING ua-cam.com/video/MgNkHZCP8Og/v-deo.html
Sorry, just found your videos and subscribed (Pointed by Better Golf). Going now to find the video you referenced. What sim and software are you using. Like being able to see the club through contact. Thanks
Just making sure you found that video. In my studio use Uneekor LM and it’s view software but also have a flightscope and trackman for outdoors. A lot of the newer optical launch monitors replay the impact view. Check out Uneekor. Thanks for the question! T.J.

I have always struggled with high spin rates due to hitting low on the face. I am going to do that drill you suggested to see if I can change this. TY Ted
Thanks for sharing. That is a great application of the drill. It’s amazing what small changes can do. T.J.

Another great video. And thanks for my recent lesson TJ.
Always a pleasure to work with you Paul!
This change in t height helped me a couple years ago. Good info
Definitely can be a game changer for some players. Thanks for sharing! T.J.
I'm a 15hcp with long but low drives. Changed loft and shaft with no improvement. Kept moving ball and tee height up further and further...still no height improvement. Moved the ball accidentally back and tee down...to std 3W position...and drives gained height by approx 30ft. Ball stays in the air like it should. Ideas why?
Thanks for sharing. Without seeing your swing and impact data tough to pinpoint but here are my thoughts of potentials. 1) your ball was too far forward to begin with relative to your dynamics and swing circle. This would cause you to hit it low on the face launching it low but your spin loft was small enough where you didn’t experience too high spin rate. Since you move it “back” it is now geometrically in a better position relative to your swing circle and you are striking it higher on the face producing a higher launch. 2) your body is reacting to the ball being further “back” than you are used too and you are instinctively adding loft creating a higher launch. 3) you are simply striking it lower on the face due to a more negative angle of attack now creating higher spin rates which will create more “lift” and a higher apex point. But potentially losing net yardage. 4) other factors. Just an educated guess. Thanks for watching and sharing. I appreciate it! T.J.
Ok. I watched this video 40 minutes ago and just came back on to share. Went to my sim and teed the ball up super high. I normally tee it what I thought was mid but realize it it low. Hit a wiffle ball off the tee as I was afraid of hitting my roof with a sky ball and holy cow. After a bunch of swings my up swing changed by 8 degrees and path moved about 6 degrees. I didn't think about doing much differently JUST NOT HIT THE ROOF. Eye opening for sure. This could be a game changer for me. Thank you
Glad you were able to experiment and see the difference! I am with you on not wanting to damage your roof! Thanks for watching and sharing this. T.J.
I have a “tattoo” on the top of my driver caused by hitting a ball high on the face. It looks like a partial imprint of a golf ball. I keep this to remind me to swing on an upward path and avoid a “wedge shot” with my driver. Lessons learned!
I always say, anything that gets our intentions in line keep rolling with it! Thanks for watching. I appreciate! T.J.
TJ congrats on the 5k subscribers! Will be at a million before 2026! Thanks again for another helpful video.
Thanks Bri!
I was hoping you would hit that ball off that block lol
Haha I don’t have any padding on my ceiling. Thanks for watching! T.J.
Did this video describe my driver development to a tee...pun intended...I struggle with a low tee for a long time and every time I tried to increase the height I would pop it up so it scared me. My old coach told me to keep grinding at it and eventually it did change may path and up angle. This is a good one and I hope people get a lot out of it. Good content as usual.
Thank you for sharing this! Nothing is really ever easy in reality. On paper maybe but we have to work to improve anything. I appreciate you watching. T.J.
I see this as more of a good "practice" aid, vs a training aid. Go get some swing help from a teacher, but you're still going to need to practice after that, and that's where these disks could be very helpful, especially since they can be used regularly at home. BTW, I've always wanted an addition to my home mat - a conductive flat pad that buzzes when I make contact with it. Similar concept for home practice.
I think you're exactly right. They're more practice aid than training aid. It’s a good compliment but I would be cautious of over using them as it might move low point back a bit. Thanks for watching I appreciate it. T.J.
I am currently in the middle of this potentially good info but too drawn out. If one is going to use this training aids. It should be place 2-4 inches in front of proper ball position. Otherwise you are training a swing to bottom out at the ball rather that infront of the ball. A water bottle cap is free and can be flipped over and used as a shallow tee
Exactly. It does help with vertical awareness but overtime I feel it will move the low point too far back and potentially adjusting the arc depth. I had to edit it out of the video as I rambled a bit but I use coins sometimes with students but place the ball behind the coin but still have the focus on striking the leading edge of the coin which ultimately is about 2 mm after the bottom of the ball towards the target. Thanks for commenting and watching. I appreciate it. T.J.
@@TJVGolf63 years old. Tight muscles all over from two car accidents 8 years ago. Before the accidents I played every weekend (Minnesota) I have been playing some the last three years. Fat, fat fat. Everything is fat. I did figure something out the last round of 2024. I know I need to sift my body weight towards the target. Easier said then done. Some people seem to be able to take a divot after the ball with seemingly no weight shift. Any recommended drills to fix the "fats" Thanks
I need an aid for fat shots. That I would buy.
Hey TJ thanks for all the great videos. What is your thought on free video apps for phone or iPads?
I think they are a great tool overall. I’m working on a video about this topic (how to film your swing etc). Keep an eye out for that. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it. T.J.
Interesting. Thanks TJ.
TJ, This is great stuff. You are a great communicator and have helped me the most. My current handicap is about a 15. I would like to be at a 9 within the next 12 months. I need to hurry as I will be turning 80 in a month. I've been trying to learn this sport for the last 5 years and keep getting better, but I'm not stopping now. I can't afford to waste any time.......Rick😊
Hi Rick, first I want to say thank you for sharing! People like you are the reason I absolutely love what I do. Keep competing with yourself and enjoy the journey. It’s not about being perfect. Just about improving. You will alway enjoy the sport if that’s your mindset. I appreciate you watching! T.J.
It seems to me this tool will not help FAT shots and maybe cause more. Since a strike behind the ball on the mat will move the disc. You briefly alluded to this in the video, but did not elaborate. I have more trouble with Fat shots then thin as a newer golfer. My swing though is low point ahead of the ball. And I focus my eyes slightly ahead of ball?
You are absolutely correct. It puts your focus slightly behind where you want the club to start to interact with the ground. Thanks for watching T.J.
Great review, for 10.00 they went right to the cart. I see you have the Salted insoles in your suggestion list. Would love to this reviewed. Pricier so I would like more info.
I will definitely be doing a full review on those. I personally have used those for the past 3 years and recommend them to my students. They make it easy to share data so I can monitor my students progress pretty easily. They don’t replace 30k force plates but they are just as good as my 2k pressure mats. Thanks for watching! T.J.
What about putting an actual ball on top of the disc and still playing the disc. Would that improve your strike?
Yes absolutely. I actually do a similar drill with a small bottle cap sometimes with students. Place ball on top of the cap and focus on striking the cap and not necessarily the ball. Sometimes a little change of intent can work wonders. Thanks for commenting and watching. I appreciate it. T.J.
I'm 78 years young. Played D1 football and baseball, lift and workout 4 days a week. Lowest score is 78, but unfortunately I was 67 when I shot it. 😅 Never had a hole in one.
Okay, thank you for this video. I have been wondering about it. Question: if you are supposed to take a divot after the ball, shouldn’t you not strike this flat ball at all? Or, perhaps just hit the farthest edge (and not behind it)?
Your are absolutely correct. This tool does have a place for certain people BUT as a word of caution it can train a low point to be too early. After messing with them (after I filmed) I concluded that they would be good if you placed the ball directly behind it and you hit balls with the focus on then hitting the leading edge of the disc. I have done drills with students in the past with coins in that manner. Thanks for commenting and watching. I appreciate it. T.J.
These are great to complement practice like you said. Helped me with depth. They get beat up after a while too, deformed or tear, so a couple dozen is nice and package lasts forever. The soft curved version seems to be more durable based on design. Guess that’s the 2.0 version. Loving your channel! Recent subscriber. Thanks T.J.!
Absolutely! Good point about them getting beat up. I am glad to hear from people that have used them before. Thanks for sharing and watching. I appreciate it! T.J.
Seems like you could replicate it by cutting up some flat rubberish mat maybe like a cheap rubber slipper or one of those sliders you use to prop up a leg of a chair. I guess the thing you are trying to train is to not hit at the ball with the face of the club head but to swing or slide the SOLE of the club under the midpoint of the ball with a little forward shaft lean. I think its because the face of the club is just a vertical plane which has practically no weight so you can't really feel where it is like you can feel the weight of the sole of the club and feel where it is as you swing the club thru impact??
Yes, you are spot on. It’s the old small target small miss mentality with this aid/drill. I actually realized I didn’t mention this in the video but I have done similar drills with students with a penny. (Have them use a demo club not to ding their club). Same concept. Something close would be easy to make. Thanks for sharing and watching. I appreciate it! T.J.
@@TJVGolf I guess this can explain why a golf swing IS different from a baseball "hit" (swing). In baseball the sweet spot of the bat is not at the very end of the bat and obviously it is part of the bat or stick that you are swinging. In golf the face of the clubhead is on the very bottom of the club and off the side of the shaft or the stick that your hands are holding. So the golf swing is much more of a swing like a ball on a string where the sole of the clubhead is the weight you are swinging or if you were swinging a baseball bat or a tennis racket but actually trying to hit the ball with the very end of the stick instead of the sweet spot 4 inches up the stick from the end??
These are intriguing. They make sense and the self organizing that you talked about makes these potentially a good buy especially at 10 dollars. Looking forward to see what else you review.
Thank and yes they have merit. I have some fun ones to review coming up. Thanks for watching! T.J.
That overhead view, you really squashed it T.. 👍
Haha. Yes! 💪

Looking forward to this series! Bit of a training aid/tech nerd when it comes to golf. These actually look interesting and might grab a box of them Thanks TJ
I honestly thing they are a good addition to anyone’s practice sessions. Nothing wrong with a little impact intent focus. Thanks for watching! T.J.
First!!! Another great video TJ! Thank you! My garage is full of these Amazon golf aids.
You win! Thanks Brian and yes they can add up!
