- An assortment of our kites flown at Morro Bay, California celebrating Kite Month. Frequently, the wind built later in the day to uncomfortable levels. Luckily, we could get on and off the beach with relative ease. Wishing you all a happy Kite Month and a good flying season.
You certainly gave a lot of your kites an airing this month, Glenn! The many Gomberg items just show how much we miss him, and the inclusion of a few "cheapies" illustrates that kite-flying is available to everyone, not just those prepared to invest a lot of money in it. I hope you have a lot more chances to fly during the coming summer.
Jim, Gomberg did us a real service at the time by licensing so many of those innovative kite designs. He was the beginning and end of the golden years of kiting. Cherie and I hope to stretch some more ripstop as our summer proceeds. There will not be anything organized like a festival until August, so we will hold forth on our own till then. Meanwhile, keep your videos coming.

Oh; I see you two have moved to the beach. Flying kites is a good excuse to enjoy waterfront views. The American kite is just adorable. A really nice display of a variety of kites.

Wonderful display of kites old and new. You did well to fly so many over the three days. Glad you got most of the day to enjoy the winds. Love that end view of the camp site with the flow form, sleds and spinners above you.
Cherie flew Sailor Boy in your honor, Carl. We are glad we had successes. I agree that there were some beautiful combinations when sun, wind and kites all aligned.

Impressed with that orange glider Glenn.
Hi David. The orange glider is a joy to fly. It is balanced front to back and side to side in flight. Bidirectional turns and long glides are smooth and predictable. In the right wind, it practically hovers. I have tried to work with a rigged EPP foam glider rigged for panying control, but so far, Ive been frustrated. A foam glider will get airborne and go high. I can not get the line wound fast enough to make controlled turns when I want to. If the line gets stuck on the stick and wheel, the glider bonks the ground hard...and I do the walk of shame.
What would your suggestion be to learn on and where to purchase?
