Never cease to be amazed each time I watch you do this Glen. First time was at the break of dawn in Longbeach and I’d of bet every cent I had it was a real bird. Wishing you a most peaceful loving 2023.
EJ, I put this one up just for you and other like minded folks who enjoy watching the turns and glides. Since this eagle can turn clockwise and counterclockwise, in Asia it is referred to as a 2-way eagle. It is the norm. When filming, I tend to fly low. The other day, I swear I had it up 200 feet in the air. Now at that altitude, anyone can mistake it for the real thing. It is so rare to see one of these stateside, so it is undrstandable...and very enjoyable! Happy New Year!
Good morning Glenn, I always repeat that I am amazed when you fly these eagles, one day I will have one, because here in Brazil we don't have one. Happy New Year to you.
So good to see the the eagle soaring. And you out and about. Recovering from 80 mph winds. The waves made it to the base of the North Lighthouse. But the 20 minute fireworks at midnight were back last night after being gone for 3 years.
Happy New Year Jim! We had winds, but compared to those...not so much! I trust the firework smoke was blown of by something less than 80 MPH. I hope our paths cross somewhere along the old trail. Stay well and involved!
Is that really Coalinga? Albert Hammond sang, "Seems it never rains In Southern California". That couldn't be melting snow? Well that was some skilled flying to welcome in a Happy New Year to you both.
I have no idea what that wet stuff on the ground is, but it is deucedly hard to get it off my sneakers. The eagle flight was done while the wind shifted direction a couple of times. I can live with that better than when it stops or goes to 10 in an instant. Happy '23 !
Very cool! I somehow stumbled onto Chinese kites from a genshin video (that’s reposted on my channel) and then this video and channel gets recommended to me
Hey Glenn, nice video and flight, September here in Texas with temps finally below 100 deg, this means I can get out and practice. What wind speed do you like to fly at? And what was the wind speed during this flight? I usually practice in a no wind to very light wind area, on a sand volleyball court protected by pine trees. Not sure how I missed this video until now! Thanks, Jim
Hi Jim, are you too one of the rare breed? That's great!. In my experience, 9mph is too much and still conditions are not enough. If I can see the grass move and feel a bit of wind on my neck, I can fly. Here, the wind can shift around so I keep adapting while watching out for sneaky dust devils. I`ve been at this a while now and I just love it. Stay in touch.
Hi Glenn, from Australia, does the light weight line reel come with the kite, or is it available to purchase separately? I have a Prism Zero-G "glider"kite which would benefit from having a line management system such as that.
Hi, the kite and the reel are boutique items, but the reels are relatively more of a production item. For my purposes, I use a PE braided fishing line of .8 although I started with 2.0. My brand is called star mania made in china. You may try to source one through Taobao or Aliexpress. When you do, contact the seller and specify a wheel you hold in your left hand ( most are left handed) my wheel diameter is about 37 cm across. You should inquire about getting one or two spare forks and spokes, just in case. Too, ask for additional plastic inserts for the eyelet since the string wears on it slightly. I use my reel for eagle kites but I have an absolute blast of fun putting on a small cheap kiddie diamond kite and playing with it. They will fly crazy high and loop and dive and be just fun. Rewinding the line is never tedious since each turn of the wheel is taking in a foot or more, just as fast as you can turn it. Stay in touch.
Master Eagle flyer Glenn 👏👏 you make it look so easy
So graceful and you look very relaxed when flying thanks again for a great video
I thank you, the eagle thanks you . Happy New Year!

I believe pan ying is the most poetic form of kite flying. It is also not easy. Thanks for the comment.
