That is what I call a real kite festival, Glenn! It appeared that 99% of the items in the air were actual kites, not endless rows of PLK line laundry that you see most places these days. And what a great line-up of participants, many of whose names I recognised. I saw lots of your items in the air, so you and Cherie must have been very busy, although having three days made it easier, no doubt. Well done!
Hi Jim, all in all it was a very nice experience. Late developing winds served to keep the big inflatables at bay. Stick kites were the order of the day, every day. We were fortunate that there was no rain to contend with. Pleasant people, room to fly, no drama, just a long drive both ways.
Incredible display. The Twin Line synchro with two and four kites display was so skillful and the 12 kite deltas were amazing. I love the single lines for variety and anyone can have a go!
Hi Glenn & Cherie. Thanks for all your work on this wonderful video record of an excellent festival. Some great makers and flyers on your list of attendees. That's quite a journey there and back. Lovely to see you both enjoying the flying. Sarah and I are off for a two week car trip to the North Island and will attend a NZ Kite association three day fly at Ambury Park , Auckland on Easter weekend.
I have to limit it to one eel a day, otherwise the bird gets too sleepy ! Thanks, Michael. It is really a beautiful combination when seen against the clear blue sky.
What a great event! I was thrilled at the large variety of styles of kites. It was fun to see the eagle soaring! Thanks to you and Cherie for driving, flying, filming and editing!
A FUN weekend show with so many original kites. Reconized some of the names from my neck of the woods. CONGRATS in help making the party a huge success.
If you have not registered for it, we will have to discuss our options. As you can tell, the beach is pretty generous for gliders. We flew for a good amount of time. Eventually, enough wind developed for light wind stick kites to go up. Prudence dictated we curtail our long range flying and redirect to more conventional kites. I look forward to training with the Orange glider. So beautiful!
