Kiting Surprise at Pismo

- With Cherie now recovered from her severe bout with West Nile virus, we meet friends Nick and Ruben on the beach south of the Pismo Beach pier. A foggy and slack morning condition cleared into a beautiful day with steady winds building to a 13 MPH average. We were totally surprised when Nick presented us with a new 13 foot bol and and a new 18ft Gomberg spikey spinner. What a generous fellow. Later, Ruben stood us to diner. With friends like this, you can see why kiting is a wonderful way to enjoy Nature and the company of good people.
Great display for sure & great friends bearing gifts too!
There you are! Happy New Year DanoUdamano.
Glenn great display and happy kite flying. Beautiful.
Better than a day at work, anytime!
What a FUN day... could have watched the bol and spinners all day. The bol is the real challenge to photograph since he bounces so much. The bol makes great shots if you can catch him off the ground. Good to see others flying kites with ya.
Now to treat my aching back, Jim.
That looked like a perfect day of flying with friends, Glenn. We sure miss Gomberg Kites, but it's good to see those items still being used.
Yes, Jim. Gomberg was always a strain on the wallet, but for kitefliers, he was an invaluable resource. I suppose there will be nothing other than trying one's luck with Chinese suppliers.
I love my Gomberg items. The purple spinsock is one of 8 I got in an estate sale. Multiples of some so I could share with my besties.
@@nicksgarage2 Lucky friends, and generous donor!
Gopd Morning Glenn
Thats a beautiful place to fly a kite. And i like the big spinning wheel
Thanks, Yaz! Happy flying.
Love the panying flying at the beginning! Very cool
Just wait, I've got something for you
This great kite spot of ours has been devastated by big waves in December 2023.
and there is a possibility the Pismo Creek could straighten out and flow into the ocean just south of our kiting spot. Our next meetup will be one for the record books...if we can get past the scoured out sand channels.
Great flying with you guys as always. So happy you're pleased with the new bol and spinsock. It was a lovely day and we should do it again soon.
It does not get much better than this Nick. Next time, we can change up what we fly or go with a theme like spinners, etc.
Looks like fun, always a good day when there is wind! I was at Oceano Saturday, sadly no wind! K2
Grrr! When will Nature understand it costs us money to get there and back! A bit of a breeze isn't so much to ask.
Oceana in California?
Oceano dunes…/… Grover beach…. Just south of Pismo! You can drive on the beach with your kite stuff! K2. @@nicksgarage2
@@koreykline6995 I'll have to give that a try next time we go up. The day started out slow but steadily progressed to nice steady winds.
