All natural freeform is the way to go, also the easiest care free way to go. I'm nearly 4 years in and I would highly recommend freeforming, it takes patience but it sooo easy.

A reputable stylist can brush out dreadlocks, its very time consuming, and you will also loose a fair bit of hair depending on the age and condition of the locs (dry brittle locs will break during brushing, even with conditioning during the process) Also some hair that was straight before dreadlocks can take on a frizzy afro appearance for a short time after brushing out :)

Takes between 1-2hrs and typically will do this once every 2-4 months. Other than that, its just a case of keeping your hair clean with a good quality dreadlock shampoo :)
The hair should dread up again on its own. Although you will have messy roots if just left. IF you want tidy smart roots. You can visit your local dreadlock/loc salon for a root tidy.

Dreads UK MA dreads all a done was rub my hair till went like sheeps. Then strts to dread up. Wear a woolen hat it helps. Now am olda. Do you do locks if paid

It was the term used to define the FEAR struck into the hearts of the European colonisers when they were going to african countries capturing slaves who followed THEIR culture and heritage. Our hair locks by washing it and not doing anything with it. The hairs mat naturally because they interlock as they grow. You cant grow freeform unless yours lock up from greasey/oiliness. If you do wash it itll come right apart. Even if not you can still take yours down by combing it but with REAL dreadlocks the only way to get rid of them is cutting at the root. #themoreyaknow
