    Sectioning is an important part of the process, because bad sectioning can lead to hair pulling from the wrong spots! This can lead to pain, irritation, itchiness, and "congos" which are dreads that grow together.
    These sections in this video would make for thick dreadlocks! Your dreads will mature to the size of your sections. * I WOULD MAKE SMALLER SECTIONS THAN THIS ON A TYPICAL HEAD *
    Tips on sectioning:
    1. Make squares or rectangles 1"x1.5" big. (Smaller if you have thicker hair or want thinner locks, bigger for thicker locks!)
    ALSO, look into triangle sectioning, or honeycomb/pineapple sectioning! I love these methods, too!
    2. Stagger them like bricks to hide the section lines.
    3. Make sure your rows are symmetrical and even on both sides.
    4. Plan around your natural part
    5. Use non-stick rubber bands
    Note: If you make them as big as these, you will have thick dreads! My sections are about half the size of these. I have 62 :)
    SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE VIDEOS and learn to do fast, natural, wax-free dreadlocks using the Twist And Rip Method plus the Crochet Method. You'll need nothing but a comb and a crochet hook (micro latch hook).
    We also have a course walking you through the dreadlocking process, step-by-step!

      @@juanalee92 I mean for 1 she literally said that those sections are bigger than what she would do on herself so they are going to be bigger (because thats what the client wanted) and for 2 this comment implies that "Big" automatically equals "Bad" even tho there are people like Kodak Black and Denzel Curry looking like badass dragonball characters with a total of 8 - 10 dreads each😂😂

    I commented on one of your videos about a month and a half ago as I was trying to decide if locs were the direction I wanted to go. I commented on several other sites, but to date you were the only one who responded and you were very encouraging. It's been difficult as I live in and area that there are no licensed locticians. However, a local beauty school has one student learning the art of dreads and I finally have an appointment next week. Your encouragement and my determination have kept me moving forward. Just wanted to say thank you. I know this video was posted some years back, so I hope you'll get to see this little thank you!

      @@WiredAndStoned I'm amazed you're responding to a six year old video just now being commented on. Thank you! And I'm going to talk to her instructor before going to make sure they will either twist and rip or back comb and then crochet so I'll have what I'm looking for. I've been making my own extensions and if I could hold my arms over my head, I'd just do my own as my extensions are turning out pretty decent for a beginner. I just need help getting this done and in NW Montana there hasn't been much demand for them. 🤭

    Just starting my dread journey! I’m starting off with double ended dreads, and getting a feel for how to put them in and sectioning my hair! I’m still learning about them, and testing them out! I take them out once a week so I can wash my hair! I’m also decorating them! So far I’ve gotten great responses from friends, customers, and family! Everyone is telling me I should just dread it all! I’m wanting my grow out my hair healthy and long before I take the real dread journey! I’ve damaged it a lot from bleaching and dying my hair for 2 years straight! I want to grow my hair out down to my waist so that I can cut all the split ends of when it’s at a comfortable length, before I dread my hair for real! But until then, I’m loving my double ended dreads!

    How do you section your dreads after you have them.. Like I have been working so much I haven't had time to do my hair in abwhile and at my roots they are all starting to grow into each other.. How do you get them sectioned back where you can see the parts and how do get all the loose hair around the dreads into them?

    • @gloriaguevara6695
      @gloriaguevara6695 7 років тому +14

      Keely Lyons You should separate them regularly especially after washing and drying them. A rat tail comb works great for getting those fine lines in. And I just learned this, but palm rolling them after a wash can also help guide the frizzy parts to the right dread. You can also use a *tiny* like .75 crochet hook or latch hook to carefully, very gently, pull some in. Just don't overdo it

      @TheWrathOfBlackJesus 3 роки тому

      Actually, this is incorrect and this idea was formed out of society’s ignorance and disgust. The reason they are called “dreads” or “dreadlocks” is because of the individual’s healthy fear and reverence for Jah/God. That is, if you adhere to the cultural and historical foundation of Dreadlocks. Which I believe all people, of all colors and backgrounds should if they choose to take the journey. Unfortunately a lot of people just see them as a fashionable hairstyle. It actually makes me nauseous what has become of something so personal and endearing. That’s the world we live in though. I hope this information changes your mind in understanding. Love and blessings.

    So what's the point of sectioning your hair meticolously if when you rip and tear, you can fix the thickness and length? I thought thickness is determined only when you section your hair.

    This is my first time doing dreadlocks and I just ordered 25 dreads on Amazon and they are single ends can I just do the rubber bands like you did in sections and braid the dreads into my hair with the rubber bands in my natural hair or is there a specific why to do them?
