It’s been 23 years for me. Believe or not I never knew what this was until 3 years ago. Then I began to realize that I ended up here because my mother is a covert narcissist. I was tortured by my mother and never knew why😢. I just thought she just simply hated my guts, because she was sorry she brought me into this world because she hated my father. It was soooo puzzling. But the light bulb is on now thank God I can define this insane behavior

Setting it up for others to see is my husband's family and it really is sick, especially when you are the one being harmed by it.
Before I knew he was a Narcissists my Narcissists use to say "Everyone is screwed up but me" ..This is how they think.
The doo-doo test is what got me. I had a friend who would just spring insults on me out of the blue. She would call me a name, and say: “You are a piece of sh*t,” when nothing had transpired to warrant that. I now realize she was just testing me to see if I’d stick around to be her doormat. Smh. I would freeze and literally feel glued to my chair, and then fret about it later. I eventually went no contact with her before it was even called that.
The ex a covert narc does so very much and doesn’t see that he’s an endangerment to me or others. He’s oblivious and you are right he has no empathy in any way. He’s nothing but abusive.

I don’t know your situation, but in my case, long story short, I had to plan a quick escape with our 16 year old daughter, and thanks to Rebecca, Ramani and Sam primarily, I managed to get away in time. Now it is a tough divorce, but with a year of listening to these videoes, I’m prepare to what come in the different stages; which has meant to me, that I’m more calm, I record our conversations, and mostly write emails.

Dear Rebecca zung, it is very helpful for me to listen to all of your advice, many years I was convinced that no one wanted to hurt me, now I know that there is so many narcissist all over. Especially my mother and my sister have been this way all my life, I only still have my sister, but I have no contact, every time I had an opinion, she said that is not true, so there is nothing to do. I have a lot of other experiences with other people, so I have learned that today I know exactly who I want to have contact with. This whole Marcus cystic thing is overwhelming for me! I've been listening to you for a few days now and you have described my husband been with him for over 30 years. I wish I could have known all of this stuff before I had no idea he was sick I mean sure I had good feelings and little red flags here and there about it and I was honestly thinking of stopping the relationship and listening to all of this! So much...everything youve said has happened to me.
He did not console me when my mom Passed away 3 days before Christmas. Then He tried to start a fight about who knows what. And then he was expecting me to Cool for his Ass the night My Mom passed. He tells me I need to quit crying because My mom was a strong lady and I need to be like her... OMG.

You have validated what I have observed with people I have tried to remedy it by confrontation, honesty, but they enjoy it too much. The man I am being affected by does this well. In the mean time i have invested emotions that was desired and have some unhealthy bond.

SMH! People who don’t address their bad behavior and just act like nothing ever happened, is that a narcissistic trait? My family does this often, I hate it. For example, my sister will be nasty to me and say horrible things and we will be estranged for months/years, then something will happen (like our dad passed away) and she acts like we are close as ever and her bad behavior never happened.

My divorce that I filed in August 2021 is still ongoing. The judge said he will put a stop to it in April. My spouse has postponed each and every hearing, yet he says he also wants a divorce 🙄

SMH All of this is so true! They love the chaos and drama no matter what it looks like. Like they said they want to end it but they haven’t file paperwork 2 mos later!
I didn’t have a separate savings because we were suppose to retire together. So I wasn’t sure how to move out.
1. He said he just wanted the house and motorcycles and I could have the rest.
2. He asked if he gave me $40k if I’d sign off on the rest. Then upped the offer to 50k when I didn’t answer his text.
3. He said he got 2 - 20k loans (but the house I needed the down for had been made offer on) He said “so I got it for nothing?!” (Like I wouldn’t still need it.) He never gave me anything.
Oh! But then he offered to buy a home for me!
4. It finally dawned on him I legally get 1/2 in our state so he got mad and retained a lawyer. So my 82 yo mom paid for me to get one.
5. After 8 wks acting childish and grumpy while we are living in the home - he put a post-a-note on my bedroom door that said I owe him $1300 in rent. Which I can’t afford if I’m trying to save to get out.
So he said if I didn’t pay I couldn’t use “the facilities “ which meant he was going to turn off the utilities. (I work from home!)
6. Literally two days later he came home and said, “if I gave you 10k would it help you move out?”
Duh!?!?!
The next day there ACTUALLY was a check on the counter.
We’ll see how this goes. It’s a holiday on Mon so I won’t be able to deposit or clear the check for 4 -7 days.

I hope that you got out safely. My husband just told me that he wants a divorce and for me to leave our home. I was just sitting on the couch watching tv when he walk in and starting telling me about what his mother said to him. Right off of the handle for nothing I did. I hate confrontation and avoid it at all costs.
My narc put me on child support after 7 years of taking care of our son who is 7 and act like she is perfect and everything is my fault/when things don't go her way she really try to hurt me deep by any means necessary,,, infidelity,try to make me look less,you name it,and she is NEVER wrong if she tells the story. I feel like a fool for trying to create a family with her my only child and now I'm on child support,,I feel ashamed,she secretly took my name off the lease ,call police on me, file restraining orders on me,just to show up at my job like nothing happened and in court I know she will convince the court room and the judge is going to put the nails in my

OMG Getting silent treatment for 3 days now. I tried to talk to him and he when in on me on everything I do wrong. I try to talk to him but he buts in and tells Me no it's All lies. Ugh
The last Silent Treatment lasted 5 wks and then he said “we need to talk. We need to end this thing. “
After a 10 yr marriage I just said, “if that’s what you want” It freaked him out!

Yep I got a covert that actually told me after she slammed a door in my face that I was a ghost 👻 to her 🙃 after 3 years of never talking to me then all of a sudden she walked up behind my car and asked me if I wanted her to move her car ????? I got to actually tell her that after 3 years of emotional abuse just stay the F away from me .....she told me she didn't care and told me to shut up lol I finally get it 🙌 they do stuff on purpose to destroy people and they don't care 🤣 😴 🤷 😂 😅 I'm aware 🤣

I haven’t seen my precious granddaughters since Sept. My daughter was murdered in 2020 and I agreed to let my great nephew adopt them. Well I was lied to about the adoption. So now they have blocked me. They treat me like I’m dead.

SMH. My children's extended paternal family has launched a 6+ year attack on me, to the point they've hurt my children. My oldest has even called them out about their terrible behavior, yet they've never even apologized to him for the trauma they've caused him. They just gloss over it and act like nothing ever happened. I've always been aware they feel entitled, but I never dreamed they would do this to their own grandchildren. My children are definitely treated like possessions, by them, and they don't think twice about using them to further their agenda (even using my son's autism and resulting behavior to attempt to make me look bad). I think one of the reasons they're able to sleep at night is because they live in a false reality - one where my children "love them the best" (and, yes, they have even filmed my autistic son, coaching him to repeat this exact statement to them, even though he appeared uncomfortable). Ms. Zung, you've got these people's numbers and, because of you, so do I. Thank you so much.

I live with a narcissist, he beats me, left ugly scars on my face and acts like he is the victim. I get he is not normal and thinks he is always right but he has bound me financially and I can't get away!
He made me quit my job and help him with his business, now he claims I am a financial burden, what do I do?
It only continually gets worse intelligent then kill u one way or another. Either u die of illness caused by abuse, emotional, psychological, physical, ect.. Or we kill ourselves. Because we start to believe it's the only way out of the misery. If u have any relative, friend, or shelter get their help. But get out! Stuff is replaceable. I'm 61 and starting over from a spot where I never had to work for the rest of my life. Just got out of jail after 2 months for something I didn't do. They stole my gun killed someone then brought my gun back. Then told the cops I said I did it. I didn't even know him. But it cost me to defend myself. More financial ruin. But I'm free and alive. And I'm moving out of state. I'm finally convinced. Tired of the isolation, sabotaging my car,sending evil peeps around to steal from me, move things around in my yard in the middle of the night. I find my magazines from the house out in the car the next day. Generally try to drive me insane. And I know she ain't gone for good. So I'm leaving. Leaving the state. My advice is put your running shoes on and run as fast as u can. Even if it's just a shelter. It's safe.
Get a lawyer. If he beats you, go ro an emergency room or Doctor. Take pictures of your injuries. Call the police. Put money away in an account he does not know about. Read what Rebecca says.

My case has been going for 5 years! And yes - he seems to love to drag things out, drag things on. We went through juvenile court during the p[l]andemic and he is now trying to revisit things that he lost in juvenile court. How does that work? Will he be allowed to bring things up again in family court that were already decided 'no' in juvenile court?
