I think thats because he's always planning for the worst case scenario. Ie what would the opponent do if they had the same skill level as him. He can see the lines that lead to him loosing, and plays around those, and most of the times the opponent isnt simply skilled enough to actually materialize that into a win, even if they had a commanding position at some point of the game. My personal favorite is how 8 of 10 games Wolfy be like "ohh thats a really good lead from the opponent" or "I made a terrible lead", and yet come ahead always.
Honestly dipplin is gonna be pretty cool especially when it evolves. Update on December 16th, 2023: I now see that I was correct. We have Hydrapple, the beautiful final evolution of our adorable syrupy apple dragon.
Fun fact about defiant into super sweet syrup, the game doesn’t count syrup as the opponent lowering speed, but the syrup lowering speed. This means that the defiant Mon doesn’t get an attack boost from the syrup ( I learned this when playing against a dippplin with gambit, super surprised I had -3 speed with no attack boosts)

Never underestimate Wolfey's ability to take a Pokemon that looks innocuous and make it a beast. I'd kinda like to see a run with Glimmora. I know people are aware it's capable, but it still feels slept on for some reason.
It is really good at getting hazards up, which in my understanding are not that strong in doubles, the format wolfey mostly plays. But it would be interesting, building a team around hazards maybe with some frail venoshock users that don't like sturdy and focus sash or something.

On my team it had a more supportive role, being a bulky wide guard user, but even with little to no sp. atk. investment a venoshock from a Merciless Toxapex does a lot of damage. For how bulky and hard to get rid off, it was truly a menace in my experience. TL:DR use Merciless Toxapex lol.

This may be off topic, but Goodra seems like a very good counter to Ogerpon. Sap sipper, good bulk, good offensive stats, can learn Sludge bomb (for Ogerporn) and Heavy slam for Fairy types (Flutter mane).
I think that the whack iron hands was just the player throwing a recently caught iron hands, not realising it was just a random one, as the 3 revealed moves it has in the wild when you catch it. good for them to stick it out in the end though.
The online battle music in this is so much better than in gen 8. I swear, much as that one part of the gen 8 gym theme is a banger, the rest drives me insane with how repetitive it is. This one is much easier to listen to for any length of time.

It would be a problem; if this was still Gen 6 or sooner and the ability existed and worked like that. With one evasion drop, 80% is pushing it when it comes to viability, and DV is no longer 80% as of Gen VII. It’s 50%. I wouldn’t rely on it, personally.

@@billybones6463 Yeah, my furret did great and pulled it's weight in the elite four. I know in modern Pokemon it's weaker but still useful. Back in it's og game it was good, I wish they'd give it guts or a buff to compare with the power creep.
If hazards were more common, it might get to see some niche play thanks to have gained tidy up as well, but doesn't look like the power creep meta's going away any time soon. Maybe the next DLC will change things up.

I've been using Dipplin since the Kitakami Prologue event, and running it with Draco Meteor, Pollen Puff, Recover and Sweet Scent. I use Sweet Scent so if it causes a Switch Out, I can still keep the enemy's evasion lowered and it hits both opponents. If they stay in, it makes moves like Vikavolt's Zap Cannon or Arcanine's Head Smash a no drawback 80%~100% accuracy moves. Also guarantees Heat Wave and Rock Slide never miss no matter what. I still need to practice Doubles a lot but lately I've been doing pretty well with funny Apple Boi.
I figured it out. The weird set on the Iron Hands is because the trainer accidentally selected the wrong Iron Hands. This one is only using level-up moves. Slam, Force Palm and Seismic Toss are all learned by Iron Hands in that order. The last move was either thunder punch or charge.
25:57 The key was the illuminias and the Ivy Cudgel. This trainer partly copied his team from meta and partly made up on his own, likely because he wanted to make his own team but knew he wasnt good enough to have something both good and original so he copied a bit of both and it didnt work.

There's so many arbitrary exceptions it's hard to keep track.
Learned that from Bisharp in White when doing the double battle subway thing. I really thought I was on to something too, 😅
Defiant is so good for Tera raids. I was using a low level Pawniard to destroy raids because that attack boost was so helpful.
