Honestly these videos have kinda gotten me back into Pokemon learning the competitive side and making such interesting teams and competing with them it's very cool and makes me want to go back and play Pokemon again
Len Deuel (the commentator) is a long-time vgc player who is still competing and getting good results till these days. After your recent losses, I'm glad you were able to really show just how good your team was; you gave them the win you knew they deserved. Not to mention you've proved that you still got it, not by your win but by all the hours of preparation you put in for this team. Can't wait to see your strategy at worlds.
@@citrineconjurerokay, so basically after the tournament there has been some screenshots of Neil being transphobic and people then took Amoongus and made it a trans ally icon. Though as Wolfey has show in both videos this should not be taken as an attack against Neil since people (that aren't complete idiots) may be able to change as long as they are still treated with respect
PURE CINEMA! The plotlines for this run was insane!!!!! [spoiler block] - The champion having to defend his title - The redemption arc of losing in Europe - Going 7-2 on 4 hours of sleep - The 1-in-16 earth power shot that got him into semis - Justin losing in quarters - Wolfe taking on the mantle for both of them - The fake out of thinking that he would succumb to failure and lose the tourney - The Chienpao terra misplay - And the 1-in-9 chance that Urshifu would immediately wake up back-to-back turns in that last battle ultimately ending up being pointless as our chad Amoongus stays in and slaps that water bear to the ground! Truly deserved win through years of experience and countless failures -- the world champion diff is alive and well!
well i mean it was kinda obvious, urshifu surging strikes isnt as strong as the other one and neil needed a crit to take down amoonguss not even max damage range would have killed it this shroom is one of the best pokemon in terms of defense so it was obvious when the 1v1 started
The combination of Sand Tomb and Yawn to not only trap in the opponent, allowing Yawn to take effect, but to also bypass Safety Goggles is so cool. The VGC side of Pokémon is still new to me, but the creative strategies these players devise is fascinating to watch. 1:00 Also, Sylveon sleeping mask Amoonguss.
@@scott--1629chill. I think he means Yawn is inherently a bit of a weaker sleep move than Spore, but it has the advantage of not being stopped by safety goggles. And, by trapping your opponent in with sand tomb, you bypass Yawn’s own weakness - it takes two turns to activate. So, he just finds it cool how Sand Tomb/Yawn into a double Protect has effectively the same outcome as Spore, but it also works on Grass types and Safety Goggles
Ok, pufferfish sound mixed with Flutter Mane's look of disgust almost made me spit out my coffee in laughter. Ty for the video wolfy! keep up the great work!
Hi Wolfey !! I'm not the type to comment on videos, ahah, but I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement. You're the one who got me acquainted with the Pokemon Competitive format, though I don't think I have the time to really study up and try competitive myself. I still find the content enjoying and really interesting to watch. I love watching people coming up with new strategies as the game evolves with time. I was watching the tournament on stream, and rooted for you the entire time !! I just wanted to cheer on the silly little guy who introduced me to a side of the community i've never been in touch with before. I really admire you for staying humble and wanting to have fun while still trying to win your matches. The finals was CRAZY ahahah I really loved it and you deserved your victory. I just wanted to thank you for putting amazing content out here (thank you to the editors as well) and never missing an occasion to make me laugh !! :) If by any chance you happen to make a stop in France for a tournament, make sure to mention it SOMEWHERE because I WILL be there ahahahah. That's very unlikely to happen, but I'll still watch the tournaments you take part in on stream !! Just know that you have a silly little fan in France, and that your community will keep on growing !! Thank you for being goofy! And keep having fun with the game ! also take time to rest you don't want to have another burnout lol
i know these videos arent always your best preforming on the channel but they are BY FAR the best. The time and effort that goes into this is not unrecognized and i love the level of depth you include.
The narrative in these videos is top tier. But even with all the editing and narration no one could script that final game, that got me on the edge of my seat. While I personally don't like playing competitive pokemon you have definitely made me a fan of watching it!
Wolfey's vids are so inspirational with his attitude towards competition and growing as a player, its incredible that you allow everyone to peek into what its like to be one of the best players in the world, one of the few that could become a world champion or even a double world champion. Seriously thank you for putting this much effort into your videos and bringing such a broad audiance the chance to see competitive pokemon.
8:58 This interaction only happens if the move used already had an effect for Sheer Force to negate. For example, if a Sheer Force Pokémon holding the Life Orb uses Earthquake, then the Life Orb damage will not be negated.
@@keysmash_roa This is because attacks without secondary effects do not get boosted by Sheer Force, but they'll still receive the damage boost from the Life Orb. In this example Earthquake receives only the 1.3x boost from the Life Orb. However, if Earthquake _did_ have a secondary effect to negate, it would receive the 1.3x boost from both Sheer Force and the Life Orb. My guess is that Sheer Force treats the Life Orb recoil as the move's effect, therefore negating it.
@@prismatic_pulsebut even that doesn’t quite explain it, as if Life Orb was treated as a secondary effect universally, you would never take any Life Orb recoil w/ a Sheer Force pokemon, even using a move like earthquake. It’s like the game only negates the life orb recoil if it can bundle up the Life Orb damage with an ACTUAL secondary effect, in which case it negates both. Still, that may not be exactly what’s happening under the hood - it’s just SUCH a weird interaction (it may well be a bug)
@@latbil if it were a bug then it wouldn't have been in every version of the game since sheer force was added. they clearly know about it too since it is a strategy used in tournament-winning teams. doesn't mean it isn't a weird interaction though.
Tbh this is one of those interactions I have just memorized but I truly have no explanation for why it works. If life orb recoil is a secondary effect, then why is there recoil when using a non sheer force boosted move? Idk all I know of sheer force + life orb = big numbers
You and your team (the human team behind this channel, not your pokemon teams) just keep one-upping yourselves with these real-life tournament videos. The storytelling aspect keeps getting better and better.
People probably think that cheering for Wolfe is the usual easy thing to do in competitive pokemon. But IMHO we are cheering for the underdog. Ray Rizzo is sitting at the top of Mt silver by himself, and we really need someone to contest him. Amazing video, as always. The quality on these are unreal
@@jdrmanmusiqkingWolfe is probably stronger than Ray at this point, but Ray is famous for doing the one thing Wolfe hasn't yet. Winning Worlds multiple times.
@@CosmicPlatonix Well Wolfe might be chasing accomplishments but as far as "Standing on the Mountain waiting for someone to contest him", that position is definitely held by Wolf And isn't Ray Retired?
@jdrmanmusiqking Ray has said the one thing that would bring him out of retirement is if someone can match his number of Worlds Wins. That sounds an awful lot like someone waiting for a suitable challenger.
@@CosmicPlatonix Idk that sounds like a cop-out. But i watch his channel and he calls himself "washed" all the time. In jest of course but it doesn't feel like hes "waiting on a challenger ". But the competition in pokemon was MUCH worse back then as compared to gen 6 onwards Im pretty sure he ranks Wolf above himself as well though that might be his humility. Hes been out of the game for too long tho so its clear hes behind
Switching to black and white as a flashback/reminder during battles (like comparing game 1 to game 1) is SOOO helpful to follow all the minutae of what's going on. Shoutout to Wolfe and the editors for knowing the small things really matter!
Loving wolfey's arc. Hates incineroar. But after the "Midcineroar" allegations, wolfey helps incineroar reclaim his crown, and the two have been inseperable ever since. This has truly been a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Read some Marxist theory to learn about how WolfeyVGC exploits his employees while getting rich from their labor. He’s got 16 incineroar body pillows that I know of and probably more. They aren’t cheap. His editors and writers got a Breloom plushie and an old Tamagatchi between the 5 of them.
I have to say I really love all the adorable graphics in the videos recently. The flutter mane at breakfast, Landorous and Tornadous waiting at the airport with you, the Wolfe Original sandwich, they're all amazing
That was honestly heartbreaking for the opponent, imagine getting the odds in your favor, seeing the glimpse of hope after complete darkness, and it closes back up at the last second.
Wolfe winning a tournament that he didn't even know he'd be in a week before it happened is truly insane. Is this what they call the World Champ Difference?

I think he started playing even before Wolfe (if not then they probably started around the same time), so it's no surprise he can have such a thorough understanding of the position.
53:40 Banking your entire tournament on a 1/20 Bleakwind connect and max damage roll can only be chalked up to the world champ difference
After your recent losses, I'm glad you were able to really show just how good your team was; you gave them the win you knew they deserved. Not to mention you've proved that you still got it, not by your win but by all the hours of preparation you put in for this team. Can't wait to see your strategy at worlds.
thank you trans rights amoongus we appreciate your effort
congrats for the win! it was an incredible video :D
40 hours of recreations? Deranged behavior. Love it. Cheers to the team, lovelies, in and out the game.
This is when Amoongus truly separated itself from its cousin Frerrothorn
If you know, you know. (and by that I mean I learned about this after all the comments on the last video)
And i loved how Wolfe subtle talked in a video for Neil to give himself a second chance, despite all of his (Neil) bad words and bad beliefs.
I don't know anything that is being referenced in this comment + replies. Anyone want to share?
@@citrineconjurerokay, so basically after the tournament there has been some screenshots of Neil being transphobic and people then took Amoongus and made it a trans ally icon.
Though as Wolfey has show in both videos this should not be taken as an attack against Neil since people (that aren't complete idiots) may be able to change as long as they are still treated with respect
@@Victor_Gabriele bad beliefs? for what?
being right?
54:03 It almost feels like that bleakwind high rolled to make up for the absurd number of bleakwind misses
Klawf of averages moment?
I know he does it for pretty much every opponent, but Wolfe calling Neil they/them is unintentionally hilarious.
PURE CINEMA! The plotlines for this run was insane!!!!!
[spoiler block]
- The champion having to defend his title
- The redemption arc of losing in Europe
- Going 7-2 on 4 hours of sleep
- The 1-in-16 earth power shot that got him into semis
- Justin losing in quarters
- Wolfe taking on the mantle for both of them
- The fake out of thinking that he would succumb to failure and lose the tourney
- The Chienpao terra misplay
- And the 1-in-9 chance that Urshifu would immediately wake up back-to-back turns in that last battle ultimately ending up being pointless as our chad Amoongus stays in and slaps that water bear to the ground!
Truly deserved win through years of experience and countless failures -- the world champion diff is alive and well!
Incredibly well written and well structured, as always. I can't believe Amoonguss won that clutch battle against Urshifu, its just a small mushroom! 💜

I loved your video on Amoonguss! 🤍💙💗 🏳️⚧️
Trans rights for the win 🏳⚧🏳⚧
well i mean it was kinda obvious, urshifu surging strikes isnt as strong as the other one and neil needed a crit to take down amoonguss
not even max damage range would have killed it
this shroom is one of the best pokemon in terms of defense so it was obvious when the 1v1 started
"bypass safety goggles" tf u tlkn abt? neither sand tomb nor yawn are prevented by safety goggles, goggles have nothing to do with this
@@scott--1629chill.
@@latbil but my point still stands, yawn is never affected by goggles so ur literally being fascinated by basic vgc shit 💀
@@scott--1629are you an idiot?
@scott--1629 maybe they don't follow vgc too much?? Why is it that big of a deal that they find an interaction in the game cool?
"Sometimes, when you want to achieve your goals, you need to work with the ones you hate the most"
-Wolfe to Incineroar (probably)
Ok, pufferfish sound mixed with Flutter Mane's look of disgust almost made me spit out my coffee in laughter. Ty for the video wolfy! keep up the great work!
That last battle was INSANE! I was on the edge of my seat about twenty times, the amount of plot twists was actually incredible haha
Incineroar appears in 17 seconds.
Thanks
@@notafish8229Even earlier you See his feet
Tbf Incin is the main character of WolfeVGC, it be a little silly not to show him off right away
Actually its also at 0:10 ! it shows up in the top right
Thx folk 🎉
Congrats to Aaron on his successful thesis defense!
“The strongest legendary Pokemon on history vs the strongest legendary Pokemon today” even wolfe is not safe from lobotomy kaisen

Nobody is safe from lobotomy kaisen
Where is this btw?
51:20
Not necessarily, it's a perfectly fine line and works absolutely well in the context of VGC
The fact that you re-create all the battles is extremely impressive
If by any chance you happen to make a stop in France for a tournament, make sure to mention it SOMEWHERE because I WILL be there ahahahah.
Wolfe: With the power of the team that I have brought this far!
*Bleakwind Misses*
Tornadus tried his hardest to make wolfe lose
Tornadus threw
The narrative in these videos is top tier. But even with all the editing and narration no one could script that final game, that got me on the edge of my seat.
While I personally don't like playing competitive pokemon you have definitely made me a fan of watching it!
Wolfey's vids are so inspirational with his attitude towards competition and growing as a player, its incredible that you allow everyone to peek into what its like to be one of the best players in the world, one of the few that could become a world champion or even a double world champion. Seriously thank you for putting this much effort into your videos and bringing such a broad audiance the chance to see competitive pokemon.
Wolf, genuinely this is the most hype video I've seen in so long. Loved this. The final battle had me so on edge
8:58 This interaction only happens if the move used already had an effect for Sheer Force to negate. For example, if a Sheer Force Pokémon holding the Life Orb uses Earthquake, then the Life Orb damage will not be negated.
That's somehow even weirder
The animations are actually so cute, well done to the artist!
amoongus made me giggle a lot lol
You and your team (the human team behind this channel, not your pokemon teams) just keep one-upping yourselves with these real-life tournament videos. The storytelling aspect keeps getting better and better.
Yeah, seconded!!!
Wolfe: "Hit Bleakwind Storm!"
Tornadus: "Nah, I don't really feel like it"
Good job amoongus 🏳️⚧️
People probably think that cheering for Wolfe is the usual easy thing to do in competitive pokemon. But IMHO we are cheering for the underdog. Ray Rizzo is sitting at the top of Mt silver by himself, and we really need someone to contest him. Amazing video, as always. The quality on these are unreal
Wolf is the clear GOAT really so i think its the opposite. Wolfs is at the summit waiting on a true rival
@@jdrmanmusiqkingWolfe is probably stronger than Ray at this point, but Ray is famous for doing the one thing Wolfe hasn't yet.
Winning Worlds multiple times.
@@CosmicPlatonix Well Wolfe might be chasing accomplishments but as far as "Standing on the Mountain waiting for someone to contest him", that position is definitely held by Wolf
And isn't Ray Retired?
@jdrmanmusiqking Ray has said the one thing that would bring him out of retirement is if someone can match his number of Worlds Wins. That sounds an awful lot like someone waiting for a suitable challenger.
@@CosmicPlatonix Idk that sounds like a cop-out. But i watch his channel and he calls himself "washed" all the time. In jest of course but it doesn't feel like hes "waiting on a challenger ". But the competition in pokemon was MUCH worse back then as compared to gen 6 onwards
Im pretty sure he ranks Wolf above himself as well though that might be his humility. Hes been out of the game for too long tho so its clear hes behind
19:12 gotta love the subtitles, they're so surprised competitive pokemon players have friends
LOL
Switching to black and white as a flashback/reminder during battles (like comparing game 1 to game 1) is SOOO helpful to follow all the minutae of what's going on. Shoutout to Wolfe and the editors for knowing the small things really matter!
Those little drawings of Wolfe with his Pokemon are great. They make the Pokemon seem like characters with personality, not just any ordinary team.
The way you break stuff down your in a league of your own 🤯. Truly worthy of the Goat Title Wolfey 🙌✨
Loving wolfey's arc. Hates incineroar. But after the "Midcineroar" allegations, wolfey helps incineroar reclaim his crown, and the two have been inseperable ever since. This has truly been a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How does this man manage to post so much hour+ videos, what a legend
He has a good team and puts in a ton of work into his videos
Also remember that this tournament was many months ago
hard worker and good team
Read some Marxist theory to learn about how WolfeyVGC exploits his employees while getting rich from their labor. He’s got 16 incineroar body pillows that I know of and probably more. They aren’t cheap. His editors and writers got a Breloom plushie and an old Tamagatchi between the 5 of them.
torturing editors
I have to say I really love all the adorable graphics in the videos recently. The flutter mane at breakfast, Landorous and Tornadous waiting at the airport with you, the Wolfe Original sandwich, they're all amazing
These animations of Wolfe are incredible! Adds SO MUCH to the videos as well, props to the animator! Also editing goes HARD as always
That was honestly heartbreaking for the opponent, imagine getting the odds in your favor, seeing the glimpse of hope after complete darkness, and it closes back up at the last second.
Perfect timing for a sequel. Good stuff
The sequel no one expected, but the sequel everyone wanted

Wolfe winning a tournament that he didn't even know he'd be in a week before it happened is truly insane. Is this what they call the World Champ Difference?

Ty bro, I was completely lost
Yo I didn’t notice that!
Dang…for a second there I thought I was going to wait until it hit 1:22:00
Damn, 0:00 doesn't exist anymore.
I can’t believe that Incineroar caused all of those flight delays.
You sure it was Incineroar and not the Bleakwind Storms hitting the plane instead?
That implies a Bleakwind Storm hits multipke times, which, as we've seen this tournament, wouldn't happen@@StreetBoyWill
I have to say, I LOVE these new black and white animation/keyframes, they’re really funny and well-timed
Shoutout to whoever drew those!
Thank you for recreating the battles, it’s much better to watch, y’all deserve a lot of praise for the effort put in these videos
That, indeed, is world champ diff. But not because of luck or divine intervention or what not... Because your opponent cuoldn't keep his head straight. Well done, you showed yourself the better player in the most direct way.
The emotions on this tournament were insane. I remember watching this tournament live. Legitimately the most intense finals I've ever seen live, and there were so many reactions online. Love the story and feelings throughout this video, about learning from your mistakes and never giving up. Thanks to the team for the amazing content!
jesus i saw the clip against neil in youtube shorts a few days back, but your storytelling is just so good that i completely forgot about it and had myself at the edge of my seat wondering how the match will play out. I really commend just how amazingly this video was produced, truly entertaining stuff
To be completely honest, I wasn’t really aware of competitive pokemon before this channel. I now know more about pokemon than I ever thought I would. Thanks for being here, wolfey!
