Quick note on Silver - if you talk to Elm after beating Silver in Mt Moon in HGSS, he mentions that Silver came by to try and return the starter he stole, but Elm could tell the starter loved him so let him keep it. We can assume the same thing happened with his Weavile, so TECHNICALLY they became retroactive gifts.
also he kind of destroyed his own father twice on a moral stance and called him something like an embarresment and not being able to get his familiary duties done. He clearly has other motives today.
@louiscorreia8152 if she's made the final gym leader, the battle would be competitive. And I think she just wants more frequent fights, when the player character first meets her, she mentions that most trainers won't battle her anymore. Make her a gym leader and they'd have no choice.
@@justinkennedy8 Not to mention, the game starts out with her leaving her own Pokemon in the Box and taking a brand new starter (since she never got one at the start of her own journey) just to be on equal standing with the player. Even taking the disadvantageous starter, if I remember right. So she would absolutely be happy to take a few team nerfs just to battle fairly.
@@josephbiddle1637 absolutely! Nemona is a trainer who loves battling passionately over winning. The chance to battle Trainers as a key member in their progression to champion would be her dream come true!
14:21 You know how you get Mallow to come to your region? Invest in her family opening a new branch of their restaurant in your region! She can run this new branch and spread the family name around the world! Heck, combine the restaurant with the gym like Larry did in Paldea, and she wouldn't have to go anywhere to be the Gym leader!
This was my initial thought, too, but she would need to expand within Alola successfully before branching to other regions, which could take a while. Also, Mike is broke... Realistically, he couldn't afford to pay for all the teainers, gyms, AND an restaurant franchise all in the same year. Mallow would have to wait, sadly.
I don't think they would need to expand in Alola first. Top chefs having more then one restaurant around the world is not uncommon. Plus It is hard to compete with other restaurants when you are all serving the same kind of food, so she might get a leg up simply by serving Alolan food which is not common in this new region. There is definitely risk but depending on how well her restaurant has been doing since we last saw her it could be worth it
I love how much personality Mikey adds to these videos. Like, we could have just had: "So X uses this and that pokemon, and that's strong, blah, blah" but Mikey adds so much more to them. I love these little stories
I love these videos because any other poketuber would just look at the teams and pick good ones but Mikey’s like “uhhhh I’m not relocating a minor to another country” or “what’s Bianca’s career trajectory?”
No, make it so his ace is super effective against multiple of your Pokemon. Primarily the biggest threats to his team (Basically use the Pokemon damage calculator, and excluding moves like self destruct.)
Vito Winstrate is an exceptional candidate tbh we know he’s a very powerful trainer having gotten 8 gym badges but he realizes in the victory road he himself is not championship or elite 4 level. He feels like he’s let his family down, however the chance to become a gym leader in a new region could be just what he’s looking for
Silver getting a Crobat always made me smile, knowing he eventually made friends with his pokemon on his own journey, he thought of them as tools but grew to love them and his character growth is subtle and wonderful
By the standards of the pokemon world, the range of 12 to 15 seems to be the "Legal age". I mean, Brock in the anime is AT LEAST 15, and he seems to be the youngest to qualify as an adult. I'm not sure how old is Iris, but when we met her, she's at least around 11 or 12 in the anime. and from the time we left her to meeting her in journeys, she became the gym leader of Opelucid to Regional Champion. so my safe bet is 12 to 15.
Between the E4 video, this one, and mentioning “not yet” making the region, I get the sense that there’s an MandJTV romhack that could be made in the future
I would have also taken the stat trainers from Sinnoh into account - Cheryl, Buck, Riley, Marley and Mira. All of them make it to the battle tower and participate (experience), they all join up with the player (teamwork) for double battles and adventure (even if only temporarily), all have been shown to have well levelled teams of 5 pokemon at once, with much longer lists for other battle modes (including minor legendaries like the birds and golems in some cases) for that talent and drive. Granted, they focus on pokemon biased towards a certain stat, so there's much more type variety on their known pokemon. Unless you did a Blue style gym, you could still narrow it down to some degree or just do (stat) themed teams rather than typed teams!
I think so too. I think as long as Mabosstiff can come, he's in. Maybe he doesn't want to be a gym leader though? Maybe he'd be more interested in caring for trainers on the road (Arven acting as a mentor for kids on their own for the first time is something very close to my heart. Teaching them survival skills and home economics)
Yeah, I find it funny how he gets a headache from the multiverse of the games, when he himself as multiverse of personalities. Also, I guess him finding Perrin hot is still a canon event.
I had another thought... The region's professor. And I think the best choice would be N, who focuses on growing the bonds and understanding between people and pokemon. Plus, he can talk to Pokemon, and would be able to get the Pokemon's input if it wants to go with a trainer if picked. Yes, there's that whole history with Plasma, but I kinda see it like a Gladion and Aether situation because Ghetsis picked him up as a little kid and N legitimately wanted what is best for Pokemon. Good intentions, baaaaad home life. Also, it would totally prompt the joke of "In [Region], Pokemon chooses you!"
11:29 "Which maybe I can overlook, if I behave like the NFL" You have no idea how hard I laughed, & my dog staring at me like I lost my mind 😂😂 (go Giants!)
About Barry, I think he should be a Water gym leader. He has an Empoleon (in the anime and in Masters) and a Floatzel, plus Crasher Wake is his idol. Nanu isn't exactly Acerola's uncle. She just likes to call him that because he's like an uncle to her
@ I know, I’m saying in most media, Barry is seen with an Empoleon, including the games if you chose Chimchar. Plus he idolizes Crasher Wake, a Water type gym leader
27:37 there’s also the overlap of Lance (Shares Dragon with Clair since he was an E4 member in Gen 1) and Koga (shares Poison with his daughter Janine since he is an E4 member in Gen 2)
Another group of trainers that could be considered are the Stat trainers from Sinnoh: Cheryl, Mira, Marley, Riley and Buck. While they don't use a specifc typing, because they are Stat specialists, you could just assign them the typing of their ace (Riley being a Fighting or Steel Gym Leader e.g.)
I love Mikey's moral integrity (not hiring minors) and he's clearly putting in genuine effort to create the perfect League. Other regions could learn a lot from him. (Also, I like to imagine that Tulip, the influencer/Gym Leader would frequently visit her "friend" Kendra, which would bring even more publicity to the region.)
7:32 I think something they could work is that when trainers come to Gladion’s gym, they could get a choice: take on his team without Silvally, or take on Silvally EXCLUSIVELY. That way trainers who want a standard experience can get it, while those who want to test their mettle against a legendary can have that as well.
I feel like that's still a bit lopsided; granted I haven't played Sun and Moon in ages so maybe I'm underestimating Silvally, but depending on where Gladion is in the lineup, it might still be an easy win just from the numbers advantage.
Silvally has 95 in every stat, so if he is the first 5 gym leaders, it could work, but he'd probably get demolished if he's any gym after that. A way this idea could work is if he replaces one of his pokemon from his 'casual' team for Silvally, or add it into his party, making a team of 5/6 (depending on how many pokemon he had before).
Two ways to make this work for higher up gym battles: Creating an actual hard mode for people who want a challenge which would have Gladion use Silvally as a 7th Pokémon, much like Volo with his Giratina. Take a page out of legends Arceus and create a “legend RKS disc” which would have Silvally change types on the fly so it can stand up against a full fledged team.
An alternative final gym leader I would have picked, had Raihan declined, would be Benga, Alder's grandson. He is a powerful trainer, uses mainly Dragon type pokemon, and utilizes a legendary pokemon. Since Latios and Latias both have a bst of 600, I think it would be completely fair for Benga as the final gym leader to use one of them as his ace
@Undrave I don't think he is. When you first meet him, he tells Alder that he finally made it to the final floor of each facility. I doubt they would have hired him after his first completion. I just think he is constantly clearing the facility after each time just to prove he's a strong trainer.
Maybe Sina and Dexio could be a dual gym, like Tate and Liza? Since you don't wanna break up the couple, of course. It's a pretty unique challenge, good for PR. Then Gladion could be the last gym leader with a Dark Silvally, even more PR!
Make them a truly idabolical snowscape + Aurora Veil/Trick Room team. Many Ice types are notoriously slow and there are super bulky slow psychic types. Just for the fun of it.
Thats something I decided to do, having them be a pair of Double-battlibg Fairy type leaders, due to their working with the man who discovered the fairy type
me and a mate are actually using your concept of a new region not even having a league yet and attracting trainers for our own custom region too. keep up the good work man, GO TEAM SKY!!!!!
8:18 I don’t know, gym leaders often have jobs outside of being a gym leader and a region’s professor being a gym leader would be pretty fun. They could be a grass type specialist
A cool way to handle Wally as the psychic gym leader would’ve been giving him dual aces, Gardevoir and Gallade (honoring his gen 3 and gen 6 aces) and make it a DOUBLE BATTLE. Hoenn even has a double battle Psychic type gym, so he could’ve taken inspiration from Tate and Liza in-universe
I'd bring in Bonnie, in the hope of getting Clemont as a two-fer. Even without paying him more, I think he'd probably love to support his sister in her new role, and he'd love to have the opportunity to build, personalise and perfect the infrastructure from the ground up. Clemont as Electric leader, Bonnie as Fairy leader, with her Dedenne. They're both clever and enthusiastic. ❤
That's kinda how Pokemon Masters first arc goes, you have to challenge Skyla, Erika, Norman and Hapu iirc before you can participate in the massive tournament to decide "the strongest trainer".
Given Raihan’s Team and strategies, I’d make the suggestion of telling him to sticking with his sandstorm team but pivot marketing wise to a ground type and/or lean into the multiple types unified by one strategy. This solves the typing issue and likely helps marketing wise as Raihan would no longer compete for attention with the gigantic amount of dragon trainers (at least 9 others, 2 of which being champions at one point) instead only competing with the few ground trainers (Giovanni who is no longer a leader, Bertha, Clay & Rika). Also I’m incredibly biased as ground is my favourite type
Raifort is also strongly implied to be a criminal, a thief of ancient, rare relics. She also tries to talk Jacq into letting her sacrifice him, er "become her assistant in a ritual" so that doesn't bode well.
Absolutely. There's an unstated reason why she wants the treasure legendaries that goes beyond mere historical curiosity. I'm certain she'll become the villain of Paldea's future.
But what about the allying trainers from Gen 4? There are Riley, Cheryl, Mira, Marley and Buck, which all would fit shockingly well considering they are all independent trainers who have a team of 5 in the Battleground + additional Pokemon in the Battle Tower.
I'm so glad you made this video! I actually commented on the last video with a description of my choices for the Elite Four and why. In that comment I mentioned that I took a slightly different approach to how I selected characters I looked at. Being 'Unique Trainers, Ace Trainers, Veteran Trainers, and Notable Trainers.' I also kept to the idea of the Child Labor Laws in the comment in the other video but with your mention that it's reasonable to give older characters age increases because it would just make sense for them to well age it helps a little! My Elite 4 ended up being Peonia (Peony's Daughter in Crown Tundra), Klara (The Minor Gym Leader from Isle of Armor), Riley (The Stat Specialist with a Lucario theme), and Ace Trainer Grayson (From Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee, Is a Master Trainer with Dragonite, and the idea was he'd use a bunch of Psuedo-Legendaries as the final Elite Four.) In the previous Video I didn't really pick for the Types of the Elite 4, however I could simply say Peonia is Steel (The other two closely related characters to her are Steel Specialists), Klara is Poison (It simply is what she is), Riley can be Fighting or could be one without a type specialist since he is uniquely classified as a Stat Specialist, and as mentioned Grayson uses Psuedo-Legendaries so he would either remain without a Type OR would be Dragon as most of the Psuedo Legendaries are Dragon types. One last thing I'll say is that you mentioned a lot of trainer's teams they have. I personally think that can obviously be remedied by them just getting more pokemon. So anyways! Youngster Joey: He was a runner up in my last comment, part of why I didn't pick him was for child labor laws. But that issue is actually resolved as he's from an old enough game that he can definitely be old enough to be hired! As the Normal Gym Leader obviously. Perhaps the first Gym Leader or maybe even throw the region for a loop and make him the Last Gym Leader with a bunch of really strong route 1 normal type pokemon as his team. Mira: Similarly to Youngster Joey she was also one I said I thought would be cool but child labor prevented her, but again she is from a game old enough she is probably easily able to be hired as a Gym Leader now. Specifically Psychic Type if we have to absolutely give her a specific type. As she is a Stat Specialist for Special Attack which is probably the most associated attack type with Psychic Types. Lisia: I mentioned in my last comment that Lisia has a similar appeal to Raihan or Iono. She is a popular public figure, however I didn't choose her as an Elite 4 because I figured her ace may be Altaria. However as a Flying Gym leader rather than an Elite 4 member? Having Lisia would be amazing. Iono: And what better way to continue the trend of people who are public figures than to also hire Iono. Obviously as the Electric Gym Leader, combining both her and Lisia into the Gym Leaders would be nice. Having both of them in the region could even lead to some interesting collaborations between the two of them. Kiawe: I think I just absolutely agree with the points you made about him in the video. Fire Gym Leader, give this man his time in the sun! Marley: She and the next one would need a little bit of an adjustment, but she has a very unique concept and could actually be the Dark or Ice gym leader, with Weavile as her ace. (Her normal ace is Arcanine) or maybe even she could just be the Dark Gym Leader with Arcanine as an Ace with Tera Dark Arcanine. She is speed stat specialist normally. Cheryl: Again, maybe a little adjustment might be needed. She is an HP specialist, Grass would actually fit her aesthetically. Having a grass team with Tera Grass Chansey/Blissey would be for an interesting challenge perhaps. Perrin: I mean....she's Perrin! What else do I have to say? She can be the Rock-Type Gym Leader with a Hisuian Arcanine as her ace. As it is the pokemon she is probably most closely related to. However a cooler idea than just that would be to make her a unique trainer kind of like Raihan. Her gimmick is just generally using Hisiuian pokemon, which she gets....who knows how.
9:51 🤣 okay this completely caught me off guard,I was FULLY anticipating you to say the actual name at first like nothing happened but, my god this through me so off guard and was so out of left field that I laughed out loud!
He only ever used one fairy type while his ace consistently stayed a psychic type. The psychic type even pivoted away from a fairy type in the remakes, so he deffo doesn't seem to care about fairy types.
Nemona has definitely shown precedent for scaling back her own challenge to meet someone on their level. I’d say definitely one to keep an eye on for when she is older as she’d happily slot into any rung on the league ladder.
You could offer internships to students of the Paldea region which would count as class credit while also providing housing for the time being and then once they come of age you could offer them the position in full. That’s a way to work around having skilled students like Arven, Penny, Kerian, and Carmine as gym leaders.
Arven and Carmine may be adults by now. That's the problem with having vague ages. Though Arven is more interested in cooking and nutrition, and Carmine is...Carmine...(Namely, a bully)
Reminds me of a family friend’s recent conversation when he got a part-time job at a golf course after retiring. Golf course people: Would you consider a part-time job here? Family friend: Will I get to play the course for free? GCP: Yes. FF: I accept! GCP: Don’t you want to hear how much we’ll pay you? FF: Oh, I’m sure you will.
I just gotta say. This video along with recent videos are just amazing. So well detailed and perspective is just on point. It really makes you think about topics you never would have thought of before. The Pokemon world truly is endless to say the least.
Small note: Klara and Avery are adults. Also, during the Star tournament after the Crown Tundra DLC, Klara states she has become a "Minor Disvision Poison Gym Leader", meaning she's already progressing towards becoming a real Galarian Gym Leader.
Oops, just got to the bit where you mention this. Still, she is an adult, as confirmed by Pokemon Masters. The whole joke of her character is that she, a fully grown adult, keeps beefing with you, a 14 year old.
Love this type of video with an in-universe approach, they're really creative and fun. Mikey going into a "shipper" mode about Sina and Dexio made me laugh... Especially because the whole traveling to Alola together thing was also what Blue and Red did in Gen 7 - it's a valid take for them too though, let's be real. 😂 Still, the BIGGEST thing that caught my attention in this whole video was Grunty Boi's new shirt... Interesting! I'm sure it makes sense in general if, uh... If Grunty Boi doesn't rock a copyright-related shirt when he stops by - and maybe that was part of this particular sponsorship! But it's just interesting and neat see that kind of thing as the channel continues to grow... Especially if it means maybe some Grunty Boi-related merch in the future? Maybe? (I mean, I also think that with the serial numbers filed off, there is such potential for the MandJTVverse as a book or comic or something, and ngl I'd love to see it, but lol idk if Mikey has any interest or even if it's feasible... A guy can dream tho!)
A note on Drayton: there is a bit of dialogue between him and Geeta where she starts to attempt to recruit him for the Paldea league, and he shuts her down immediately. I doubt he’d take the offer of a job very seriously; he’s content with slacking off.
One group that I think would make great candidates are Team Star. Most of them are on the older side of the teens, and could definitely become Gym Leaders due to many of them already being specialists and great trainers to boot. I’ll go over each member below and explain why they’re good. Penny: While she’s related to a former champion in Peony, her criminal record makes her tough to choose, plus her lack of type specialty (and team of exclusively Eeveelutions) make her a bad candidate. Ortega: Surprisingly a fantastic candidate. He’s the oldest member of Team Star, specializes in the strong fairy type, and is skilled both in engineering and science, and fashion, with connections to an already established worldwide brand. He already travels with his family for business, so moving to a new region would be easy for him. Eri: Also a fantastic choice. She’s the strongest trainer in Team Star, also on the older side of the teen years. Her fighting type specialty is solid and she has a great personality for a gym leader. Atticus: A pretty solid candidate, has a good personality and even has saved the lives of people in his area. Poison specialty is a decent type for a gym, but he doesn’t have much special about him. Mela: Not a great candidate in all honesty. Her bad attitude and rebelliousness wouldn’t be good for a gym leader, and her hot temper sometimes spills over into physical violence. She’s also not that strong of a trainer either. But maybe after some time and growth she could be a good trainer eventually. Giacomo: This one is a bit complicated. Dark type specialty is solid, and he used to be extremely punctual, thorough and had a good head on his shoulders. But…he actively chooses to be less responsible and lazy because of his baggage at the academy. His DJ work could be good for the region, but his lack of battle skill with his type might also be a factor holding him back.
I went through, and Eri is my lead choice: Strongest trainer, age appropriate, and personality to be interesting. However, I believe for a Fighting Trainer, Hau makes more sense and is a better battler than Eri, so then Giacomo becomes the best choice. Age appropriate, intelligent, a lacking type and nothing preventing him from traveling and doing what he loves, makes him a great investment. I think Mela is better Flannery, her fiery passion for battle is authentic in comparison. Also, her aggression was only tied to Eri and Penny being bullied, so I believe she'd have chilled out ssince then for this opportunity. Impose a pay cut for any attempted physical contact with trainers if not already established in the rules and your worst fears are alleviated 🤣🤣🤣 Mike just made a much more convincing argue for Kiawe over Mela. Lastly Atticus would be good, but there are better Poison trainers out there like Jacque, and the region would need more teachers than actors/cosplayers... Never liked Ortega, screw Ortega, the same sentiments Mike had for Sword/Shield Brothers I have for Ortega 🤣
I would rather also look at the "stat trainers" from the sinnoh games. Though they do not have a type speciality, they are prominent battlers with actually decent teams. Riley or Marney would be my go to pick.
Did he talk about them for the E4? Don't remember. If not, yeah they seem to be a glaring, weird omission. Like sure, Riley seems bound to iron island and whatever Flint's nephew's name was might be super into Heatran, but the others seem perfectly fine with moving.
Psychic for Wally makes more sense than fairy, which would be another option since he loves the Ralts line. He never stops being sickly, not entirely, but Wally’s WILLPOWER lets him reach heights that most trainers with a normal body and great health could never reach.
I kind of wish gym leaders were dual-types or had themes that weren't just types, so if I were making a new league I'd bend those rules a bit to attract more trainer talent... 1. Joey (Youngster) - Normal/Dark (Raticates only 😂) 2. Cool trainer Nick - Bug/Flying (the annoying guy who always wins bug catching contest in Gold/Silver games) 3. Riley (Steel/Dragon) 4. Mr. Briney (Water/rain - double battle) 5. Wally (Fairy/Psychic) 6. Heartbreaker Charles (Electric/Ground - randomly triple or rotation battle) 7. Kiawi (Fire/Ghost) 8. Inver (no type specialism - inverse battles)
@BJGvideos apparently (I say as I'm working with Bulbapedia not personal experience) in bdsp battle tower multi battles with Marley, he always uses one steel type (lucario/metagross) and one dragon type (salamence/garchomp).
Every time I think about Hugh I just remember that animated game trailer where he tells you to watch his back because he's "about to unleash his rage" and all I can think is he's such a dork, I can't have that kind of foolishness in my gym leaders.
Now we just need a video about what exactly this new region is, what it’s like and the Pokémon that live there (including possible legendaries, mythicals, Ultra Beasts & Paradox Pokémon along with anything I’m forgetting)
I want a second part of this video that includes: - Pokémon that every Gym Leader would use. - What TM would they give you? - If this Region is Open World, then what is the consistent Ace Pokémon through all the badges (Like Sophocles uses the Vikavolt line either you have 1 badge [Grubbin] or 8 Badges [Vikavolt]) - How do they fight based on difficulty? (How many potions do they use? Do they use other items like full heals? Do they put items like Sitrus berries on their aces? If this game has Hard Mode, what changes do they make in EVs and held items?) I know it's a lot, but as someone that usually listens to the video while working it would be an amazing long video while I clean carpets :3
“However, it has been many years since most of these trainers started out, so…they’ve gotta be adults by now, right? Like- we’re fine!” PLEASE do not take this line out of context.
To be fair, judging by the internet, "They've gotta be adults by now, right?" is certainly what the majority of people believe. Like when I watched Pokémon as a kid, Misty was older than me. I haven't seen the anime since and I haven't replayed the gen 1 games, so subconsciously in my mind she is still older than me. The whole idea that fictional characters don't age does not work well with my monkey brain. See also XKCD 2189. So yeah, maybe I shouldn't agree with this in any random context, but I do to some degree. To me, Dawn, Hilda and Rosa (and their male equivalents whose names I cannot recall) feel like adults while Selene and Gloria feel underage. (Akari is a weird case, because I don't have LA and she looks identical to Dawn but I have seen LA footage in which she is clearly a teen -- but she's canonical been dead for centuries so it's a bit unclear anyways.) Considering Hilda is canonically 14 years old in BW, and considering I was in the same ballpark when I played BW, it seems that I see them as adult or underage depending on if they were about my age or older than me when I learned about them, or younger than me. But that is also inconsistent, since people younger then me have been adults for a while now, so if we age them linearly then Selene should feel adult. But that is clearly not the case. The psychology of the perceived age of fictional characters is weird, man. PS: Also complicated by the fact that 'teenagers' in movies are often acted by young adults, which further messes up the perceived age. Annabeth Chase is 12 years old in the first Percy Jackson book, and looks it in the illustrations. But her actress, Alexandra Daddario, was 24-ish in the movie I saw, and clearly adult. Conversely, many book-teenagers act like adults or at least older than their age -- but this also applies to Pokémon, where 10 year olds are given the independence that we certainly wouldn't give 10 year olds in real life. So yeah, what does 'age' even mean at this point.
If I had the opportunity to hire 8 trainers as Gym Leaders my picks would be: 1. Ryuki (Dragon) 2. Silver (Dark) 3. Buck (Ground) 4. Wally (Psychic/Fairy) 5. Mars (Normal) 6. Eri (Fighting) 7. Marley (Fire) 8. Raifort (Ghost/Poison)
@@Amelia4111 First, Agatha is old. Too old honestly to travel and manage a Gym for an extended amount of time. Raifort is younger, and quite simply, she makes more sense
Mustard is an ex champion that is too much unless he is the 8th but with Gladion having Silvanny unless He turns down the offer you have 2 champion ranked gym leaders
I have a google doc I made a couple years ago about my own fake region, and the leaders' type specialties in order were Normal, Grass, Water, Ground, Ice, Fairy, Rock, and Steel, and the Elite Four were specialists of Fire, Fighting, Psychic, and Ghost in that order
I like Kiawe as a choice. Several gym leaders are shown to also be entertainers in their region, either as part of their gym or separate. Kiawe leading a multicultural dance theater alongside being gym leader makes perfect sense 🔥
I think the biggest surprises that I would have considered were Guzma and Plumeria. Now, I get that the whole Team Skull past is an obvious negative, however I'd argue that delinquency is less serious as a negative compared to organised crime rings, eco-nuts and using actual bombs, to name a few specific other groups. In addition, the games did showcase that they tried to break with the past and I would hope could make amends. We also know both are skilled battlers and their teams are well equipped to be type specialists with Bug and Poison respectively. Now, the question of if they'd be interested might be another matter entirely!
Sina and Dexio probably wouldn't like being assigned to gyms in different cities... But counting them as a single gym leaves it at only 7. Two separate gyms in the same city, maybe even back to back might be interesting. Could work if the gyms were in a hub area, and any challenger needed a token picked up from different neighboring areas to face one or the other. If not, it may be better to make this pair a 'one of multiple' like you see in early gyms in some regions, and find another gym leader.
If you need an extra spot filled, send an offer to Mallow, (as suggested by a prior poster, with an offer to open a branch of the family restaurant) If she doesn't stick around after a minimum contract length, the position can be offered to one of the region's trainers. (Or, alternatively, to an Ace Trainer)
Alternatively, the last gym is BOTH Sophocles and Ryuki. You can go the route of having one of them exclusive to each version of your region, or make the gym a double battle.
Everyone always forgets about my girl Emma. She's a talented trainer with a stacked team, on top of being a great detective and even having some awesome athletic feats thanks to her suit, which could possibly translate into a very unique battle style. While she is running a bureau/playing crime fighter in Lumiose and thus might want to stay at home, I can see her following in the steps of her InterPol mentor and going around the world to make use of her skills if she can find someone to replace her at the Bureau.
Holy cow, I am super early! We'll, since I'm here and know the criteria... Okay, here me out... the Gen 7 player's mom would make a good 1st Gym Leader! She used to be known as a talented trainer, even getting nicknamed the "Cat Scratch Lady", and her Meowth is normal type, a good type that doesn't have any weaknesses or resistances to most starters. Plus, her nurturing nature is perfect for beginners, and could encourage any who fail the first round to try again. I think I'd also pitch an invite to the Sprout Tower Elder. He's a good early game "boss" and his tower is literally meant to encourage growth in young trainers. I'd say he'd make a good grass leader, especially if you threw in some grass/flying types. And you know what? While we're in Johto, I'm inviting Youngster Joey! Give him a gym dedicated entirely to Rattata and Raticate, another regional variant, and a third evolution to beef up the family. Play him as smart, he's learned everything their is to learn about Rattata, and he's maximized their potential!
My leaders(in order that I decided on them): Nemona: she was a bit harder to convince than I had initially thought, not because she didn't want the position, but because she didn't want to leave her friends. Eventually she accepted and became my Electric gym leader(Energy Badge) Guzma: he was actually pretty easy since he disbanded Team Skull and wanted respect. While he was a criminal once, he has redeemed himself, and would be pretty helpful for stopping crime with his experience, especially as a bug specialist(Swarm Badge) Wally: he was perfect for the position and was easy to convince, becoming my Psychic Gym Leader(Mind Badge) Ryoki: again no issue making him my Dragon Gym Leader(Myth Badge) Oleana: What with Rose's reputation dropping she had little to keep to Galar, and she never really did anything illegal, making her my Poison Gym Leader(Pollution Badge) Dendra: it took some effort, but I did convince her to come and be my Fighting Gym Leader, along with her "friend" Tulip coming as well(Combat Badge) Dexio and Sina: pretty easy to get this power couple as a double-battling pair of Fairy Gym Leaders(Fae Badge) Gladion: with the troubles of his family leaving a mark, plus leaving with Silvally once everything is done, I was able to convince him to work for me as a Dark Gym Leader(Shadow Badge)

And Crobat!
@@ElavieateI think that’s a bit irrelevant to the point
true! his pokémon got so attached to him that they didn’t want to leave despite how he started out.
Lol. If you kidnap someone and they grew attached to you its not a gift but a Stockholm syndrome.
also he kind of destroyed his own father twice on a moral stance and called him something like an embarresment and not being able to get his familiary duties done. He clearly has other motives today.
"I can't afford Nemona"
Hahaha you fool! She doesn't care about money, only the fight. Fight! FIGHT!!!!!!!!
She wants competitive fights, I doubt she'd get a lot of those as a gym leader
@louiscorreia8152 if she's made the final gym leader, the battle would be competitive. And I think she just wants more frequent fights, when the player character first meets her, she mentions that most trainers won't battle her anymore. Make her a gym leader and they'd have no choice.
She travels to the Mikey region and becomes the champion.

@@sparrowflyaway yea that's what I was thinking
Why not start a restaurant chain?
Wasn't one of the elite four members also a chef? A thriving restaurant scene would really help boost numbers!
Adding wordlbuilding to Pokémon is nice, especially when it’s something the mainline series desperately needs.

Why he's the best team leader!
A cool gimmick with Gladion could be: Randomise the disc Sylvally holds! Make him a normal-type leader, but his ace Sylvally could be any type!
No, make it so his ace is super effective against multiple of your Pokemon.
Primarily the biggest threats to his team (Basically use the Pokemon damage calculator, and excluding moves like self destruct.)
Or restrict Sylvally to the Dark type disk. So few Dark gym leaders. There are previous Dark Elite 4.
Overlap wirh Karen, but still I Like the Idea of him being a DARK Type Leader. Zoroak would fit in Perfectly
Vito Winstrate is an exceptional candidate tbh we know he’s a very powerful trainer having gotten 8 gym badges but he realizes in the victory road he himself is not championship or elite 4 level. He feels like he’s let his family down, however the chance to become a gym leader in a new region could be just what he’s looking for
Silver getting a Crobat always made me smile, knowing he eventually made friends with his pokemon on his own journey, he thought of them as tools but grew to love them and his character growth is subtle and wonderful

to be fair, his rules said that he can't choose already existing gym leaders, so they're safe
Mikey said he's not RELOCATING minors to a different region
My bad lol
By the standards of the pokemon world, the range of 12 to 15 seems to be the "Legal age".
I mean, Brock in the anime is AT LEAST 15, and he seems to be the youngest to qualify as an adult.
I'm not sure how old is Iris, but when we met her, she's at least around 11 or 12 in the anime.
and from the time we left her to meeting her in journeys, she became the gym leader of Opelucid to Regional Champion.
so my safe bet is 12 to 15.
15-16 seems a decent age in the pokemon world to be considered an adult regarding pokemon trainer/battle.
I love how Mikey is looking at everything about the trainers to decide. Not just their teams, but also their stories and personalities.
I mean, Arvin is probably an Emancipated Minor, what with his whole parent situation. He's probably fine to hire
Also, I’ve always thought of him as a 15+ year old character, and may even be 18.
I've always seen him as, like, several grades higher than the player and Nemona, although not having the same interest in battling
@@myheartismadeofstarsSounds like first-Gym material to me!
@@RuBoo001 that's certainly an option, similar to Cheren being a teacher
“ARGH THE MULTIVERSE” “it’s a canon event..”
Honestly, N being a Pokémon researcher rather than a trainer makes sense
Actually N could be pokemon breeder as well or a pokemon connesiur like Cilan
That Winstrate joke is definitely going in an out of context video...

i like how this is a continuing series now
About Barry, I think he should be a Water gym leader. He has an Empoleon (in the anime and in Masters) and a Floatzel, plus Crasher Wake is his idol. Nanu isn't exactly Acerola's uncle. She just likes to call him that because he's like an uncle to her
The uncle thing could also be a direct translation from japanese, where young people tend to call older men uncles (instead of old man)
@ That’s true. I’m just going off of what I remember from the games
But in his team he has the combination of both staraptor and Snorlax. Barry has the other 2 types of the starters that he doesn't get.
@ I know, I’m saying in most media, Barry is seen with an Empoleon, including the games if you chose Chimchar. Plus he idolizes Crasher Wake, a Water type gym leader
Nanu isn't related to acerola but he is her legal guardian and she is set to take over as kahuna when he retires
"I don't want you to copy me, but weirdly we do look good in... similar eccessories." this line had me laughing so hard.
27:37 there’s also the overlap of Lance (Shares Dragon with Clair since he was an E4 member in Gen 1) and Koga (shares Poison with his daughter Janine since he is an E4 member in Gen 2)
24:24 guy spoke for all of us
Not everyone. Some of us are into men.
Guys, I don’t think Mikey’s ever gonna escape the allegations 😂😂😂 if you know you know
Another group of trainers that could be considered are the Stat trainers from Sinnoh: Cheryl, Mira, Marley, Riley and Buck.
Two ways to make this work for higher up gym battles:
Creating an actual hard mode for people who want a challenge which would have Gladion use Silvally as a 7th Pokémon, much like Volo with his Giratina.
Take a page out of legends Arceus and create a “legend RKS disc” which would have Silvally change types on the fly so it can stand up against a full fledged team.
2:22 In the Pokemon Adventures manga it's Sapphire (May) that's a battling fanatic, and Ruby (Brendan) is into Pokemon Shows
An alternative final gym leader I would have picked, had Raihan declined, would be Benga, Alder's grandson. He is a powerful trainer, uses mainly Dragon type pokemon, and utilizes a legendary pokemon. Since Latios and Latias both have a bst of 600, I think it would be completely fair for Benga as the final gym leader to use one of them as his ace
Benga! I knew I was forgetting someone... but he might be like a Frontier Brain and actually paid for his job at White Tree Hollow/Black City.
Then Gladion could be the last gym leader with a Dark Silvally, even more PR!
thats also two people to pay 🤷♂️
@slinky6415 aye it's all worth the PR, no other region has a gym leader with a legend, and only one has a double battle
Make them a truly idabolical snowscape + Aurora Veil/Trick Room team. Many Ice types are notoriously slow and there are super bulky slow psychic types. Just for the fun of it.
@youtube-kit9450 i like the way you think

We need a game that's just like this video. Where the gym leaders, and maybe even the Elite 4 and/or Champion are from different regions
There's a rom hack that does that, i think it's called Pokemon Saffron but i could be misremembering things
That's kinda how Pokemon Masters first arc goes, you have to challenge Skyla, Erika, Norman and Hapu iirc before you can participate in the massive tournament to decide "the strongest trainer".
Mhm, this is kind of a thing in the region I've been working on off & on for the past several years.
Stop, stop, I'm already sold.
And Jacq is just like oh okay sure! Him agreeing to stuff like that is probably a part of why Clavell watches him like a hawk.
Oh so she's the Lara Croft of the pokemon world...yeah I see that
@@moxiemouse24stg Jacq is attracted to people who are toxic for him
Her gimmick is just generally using Hisiuian pokemon, which she gets....who knows how.

idk, I like the idea of Wally being a fairy type gym leader. Suits his personality way more as being a gentle but strong character
Considering his ace is a (mega)Gallade, that ship kinda sailed.
Wally could also be a Fighting type gym leader because his ancestor was a Ninja
He only ever used one fairy type while his ace consistently stayed a psychic type. The psychic type even pivoted away from a fairy type in the remakes, so he deffo doesn't seem to care about fairy types.

Family friend: Will I get to play the course for free?
GCP: Yes.
FF: I accept!
GCP: Don’t you want to hear how much we’ll pay you?
FF: Oh, I’m sure you will.
Yeah, you'd have to remind her that she would also be getting paid
Nemona then proceeds to totally not stalk the first strong trainer she battles
I just gotta say. This video along with recent videos are just amazing. So well detailed and perspective is just on point. It really makes you think about topics you never would have thought of before. The Pokemon world truly is endless to say the least.
I would pick Youngster Joey but I'm afraid having an unbeatable Gym Leader would be bad for business
Crazy underrated comment
Arven was a senior during the events and it’s been a year since it came out so he’s probably graduated by now
He did have to make up the work he missed so he may still be in school. Good thing the academy is all-ages! He could be there until he's old and grey!
Bro how has pokemon not hired this man yet? Its a crime
Still, the BIGGEST thing that caught my attention in this whole video was Grunty Boi's new shirt...

I would choose Giacomo need more Dark type gym leaders.
@@edwiniseman4Eri's aggression was due to people bullying her as well.
@@dexchampion2128 also where do you get that Ortega is the oldest member? All he says is he's older than the player character
I thought Ortega was the youngest Star Boss. He certainly looks and acts like it.

Psychic makes more sense than psychic?
@ I got distracted while writing my comment, I meant to say psychic makes more sense than FAIRY. Lmao, I edited it XD
I kind of wish gym leaders were dual-types or had themes that weren't just types, so if I were making a new league I'd bend those rules a bit to attract more trainer talent...
1. Joey (Youngster) - Normal/Dark (Raticates only 😂)
2. Cool trainer Nick - Bug/Flying (the annoying guy who always wins bug catching contest in Gold/Silver games)
3. Riley (Steel/Dragon)
4. Mr. Briney (Water/rain - double battle)
5. Wally (Fairy/Psychic)
6. Heartbreaker Charles (Electric/Ground - randomly triple or rotation battle)
7. Kiawi (Fire/Ghost)
8. Inver (no type specialism - inverse battles)
@@cactuslh Riley, dragon?
@BJGvideos apparently (I say as I'm working with Bulbapedia not personal experience) in bdsp battle tower multi battles with Marley, he always uses one steel type (lucario/metagross) and one dragon type (salamence/garchomp).
@cactuslh Huh
11:53 Thanks for making us feel old
There are children in schools who are being taught about multiplication right now, who are YOUNGER THAN POKÉMON SUN AND MOON.
ikr 😢
The mind screw that happened when he said that broke me.
11:53 the way we said "Jesus" at the same time 💀💀💀 how has it really been *8 WHOLE YEARS* already???
25:00 this feels like he's dealt with things lmao
What it do, I just got a job after a year and a half of searching. He did. And one day you will too.
8:02 Says Hop has clear talent, but while saying this, shows a clip of him getting one-tapped 🤣
22:30 What, you think you can compete with teacher salaries?! Ha! Ha ha!! Ha…
… yeah, I guess you can pretty easily…
Every time I think about Hugh I just remember that animated game trailer where he tells you to watch his back because he's "about to unleash his rage" and all I can think is he's such a dork, I can't have that kind of foolishness in my gym leaders.
Classic style MandJTV content, glad to have this back
Now we just need a video about what exactly this new region is, what it’s like and the Pokémon that live there (including possible legendaries, mythicals, Ultra Beasts & Paradox Pokémon along with anything I’m forgetting)
Would be cool if he made this new region and planned it out, yeah. Probably way too big for one video, but put it into chunks I guess?
I totally thought that Grunty Boy was going to say he had stolen a dialga toy and claimed to have stolen “time.” 😂
I want a second part of this video that includes:
- Pokémon that every Gym Leader would use.
- What TM would they give you?
- If this Region is Open World, then what is the consistent Ace Pokémon through all the badges (Like Sophocles uses the Vikavolt line either you have 1 badge [Grubbin] or 8 Badges [Vikavolt])
- How do they fight based on difficulty? (How many potions do they use? Do they use other items like full heals? Do they put items like Sitrus berries on their aces? If this game has Hard Mode, what changes do they make in EVs and held items?)
I know it's a lot, but as someone that usually listens to the video while working it would be an amazing long video while I clean carpets :3
4:25 I love the Grunty Boi logo on Mich…. I mean Grunty bois shirt 😂🔥
2:21 "Which of you is... the main one- who's the champion here?"
Brendan+May/Serena&Kalem: Yesn't
“However, it has been many years since most of these trainers started out, so…they’ve gotta be adults by now, right? Like- we’re fine!”
PLEASE do not take this line out of context.
i will muahahahaha
(Akari is a weird case, because I don't have LA and she looks identical to Dawn but I have seen LA footage in which she is clearly a teen -- but she's canonical been dead for centuries so it's a bit unclear anyways.)
Considering Hilda is canonically 14 years old in BW, and considering I was in the same ballpark when I played BW, it seems that I see them as adult or underage depending on if they were about my age or older than me when I learned about them, or younger than me.
Your ad reads are some of the only ones I actually enjoy sitting through! Thank you for making the effort to keep us entertained even through the ads!
If I had the opportunity to hire 8 trainers as Gym Leaders my picks would be:
1. Ryuki (Dragon)
2. Silver (Dark)
3. Buck (Ground)
4. Wally (Psychic/Fairy)
5. Mars (Normal)
6. Eri (Fighting)
7. Marley (Fire)
8. Raifort (Ghost/Poison)
WHO'S RAIFORT? AGATHA SHOULD BE THE LAST PERSON, SINCE SHE IS THE ONLY KNOWN SPECIALIST WHO HANDLES THOSE TYPES!
@@Amelia4111 First, Agatha is old. Too old honestly to travel and manage a Gym for an extended amount of time. Raifort is younger, and quite simply, she makes more sense
My perfect gym leaders would be,
Fire Gym leader - Maxie
Water Gym leader - Archie
Poison Gym leader - Proton
Fighting Gym leader - Mustard
Bug Gym leader - Guzma
Steel Gym leader - Rose
Flying Gym leader - Lysandre
Dark Gym leader - Ghetsis
I think this is destructive enough
You have a type, don't you? Grandzaddy.
Mustard is an ex champion that is too much unless he is the 8th but with Gladion having Silvanny unless He turns down the offer you have 2 champion ranked gym leaders
I think that region would’ve make it a week before it blows up lol
One of these things is not like the others...
@@DarthMolgy Yeah how is Proton the third when he's weaker than the first two?
I have a google doc I made a couple years ago about my own fake region, and the leaders' type specialties in order were Normal, Grass, Water, Ground, Ice, Fairy, Rock, and Steel, and the Elite Four were specialists of Fire, Fighting, Psychic, and Ghost in that order
tell me more
Lana, Bianca, Marnie, Rika, Mina, Drayton, Gladion and Wally are the silhouettes
It's Dendra not Rika
@@JamesAdrianAlonzoAh yeah, I got confused. Thanks
Unrelated note:
I love how Mike and Grunty Boi are getting along over the past few years

26:01 So are Sina & Dexio a dual type gym as a power couple or are they in separate gyms?
Sina and Dexio probably wouldn't like being assigned to gyms in different cities... But counting them as a single gym leaves it at only 7.
Two separate gyms in the same city, maybe even back to back might be interesting. Could work if the gyms were in a hub area, and any challenger needed a token picked up from different neighboring areas to face one or the other.
If not, it may be better to make this pair a 'one of multiple' like you see in early gyms in some regions, and find another gym leader.
If you need an extra spot filled, send an offer to Mallow, (as suggested by a prior poster, with an offer to open a branch of the family restaurant)
If she doesn't stick around after a minimum contract length, the position can be offered to one of the region's trainers.
Now I want to see your Pokémon League with only your original characters and imagination.
Based level 100 idea

My leaders(in order that I decided on them):
Nemona: she was a bit harder to convince than I had initially thought, not because she didn't want the position, but because she didn't want to leave her friends. Eventually she accepted and became my Electric gym leader(Energy Badge)
Guzma: he was actually pretty easy since he disbanded Team Skull and wanted respect. While he was a criminal once, he has redeemed himself, and would be pretty helpful for stopping crime with his experience, especially as a bug specialist(Swarm Badge)
Wally: he was perfect for the position and was easy to convince, becoming my Psychic Gym Leader(Mind Badge)
Ryoki: again no issue making him my Dragon Gym Leader(Myth Badge)
Oleana: What with Rose's reputation dropping she had little to keep to Galar, and she never really did anything illegal, making her my Poison Gym Leader(Pollution Badge)
Dendra: it took some effort, but I did convince her to come and be my Fighting Gym Leader, along with her "friend" Tulip coming as well(Combat Badge)
Dexio and Sina: pretty easy to get this power couple as a double-battling pair of Fairy Gym Leaders(Fae Badge)
Gladion: with the troubles of his family leaving a mark, plus leaving with Silvally once everything is done, I was able to convince him to work for me as a Dark Gym Leader(Shadow Badge)
@@thedragonwarrior5861 Oleana never really did anything illegal? She knew about Rose's plan and enabled it to the end.
