I was tasked with discovering the names of people on a 63 year old birth certificate from Vietnam to uncover the mystery of someone's origins and family. This was an amazing experience thanks to locals who were extremely helpful and caring.

About Me: I'm Kyle Le and these are the places I've been, the people I've met, the foods I've eaten, and the many things that I've seen...Originally from Southern California, I moved to Saigon, Vietnam after university and lived there for many years. Then, I traveled the world finding and documenting stories of Vietnamese people living outside of the homeland. Then I finished my master's at USC and now... well... you're going to have to follow and watch to find out!

Thank you, Kyle, for all you have done for our family. Our family is traveling to Vietnam in November, and we hope to see you. Lei has been very scared of finding family because in my opinion she has always been hurt in every step of her past life. She has always wondered why nobody ever came looking for her from Vietnam. The obvious answer is they did not have the means as we do, and the documentation was nonexistent. But the video provided the answer that they had been looking for her which is valuable information. We are closer now and have learned a great deal thanks to you. We are taking baby steps, and we want her to make the decisions and not us for her. Again, thank you so much for all of your research and the video. It will be a treasure forever and we hope we can get to the next step of her actually meeting and proving through DNA that it is her family! Thanks again and see you soon.

Update to this story! We went to Vietnam and we went with Kyle to Barb’ s village to include the orphanage she was raised. We met possible half brothers and half sister and other possible family members. We attended a wedding for her possible half brother and truly had a great visit. The meetings with family went very well and we are forever thankful for Kyle for his assistance! We recently did ancestory tests and are awaiting results.
    More to follow!

Thank you! This one is quite different right... because I'm investigating and filming at the same time and that in itself is a big challenge. To think about the shots and to think about the mystery. The previous video was more of a documentary where I was behind the camera most of the time and could really focus on the angles and keeping steady. That was a bit easier. Thank you for watching and for the comment.

Churches in Vietnam keep records of all the parishioners' documents. I was surprised when I went to a local church in Saigon and able to talk to the local priest and he pulled out my family record in the church library. The document showed the names of my mom and dad, grand parents, their parents names (my great grandparents) and the birth places of each person, when they baptized, got married, Godparents names, the date they died.......Only 10% of Vietnamese are Catholics, so not much people know about this when they find traces of someone's root.
