Beautiful poem by Dominic Chianese (Corrado Junior Soprano): You can travel down the road, Check on every vine, You can travel down the road, You can travel down the line. But there were few like Jimmy, He was homemade wine. Honest, good, pure, nothing added. Wants you to have a good time, Sharing with friends like family. He was homemade wine. You need a dollar? You got Jim. Loyalty and truthfulness, that was him. Believing in something good out there. Never got in the way, he was always fair. A good brother, a good son, good father. He always tried his best. And all the rest, He was homemade wine.
I actually met him while flying to the Bahamas for my honeymoon with my new wife on New Year’s eve 2009. We we’re getting our bags and there he was standing right in front of me! I screamed out,” Yo, Tony Soprano!!” He looked at me like a wiseguy and said just nodded his head with a steely cold expression. I extended my hand and he shook it, and he turned around and just walked away with his son. i’ll never forget it.
I recently watched the entire series and I hated it when it was over. 86 episodes I believe it was and I watched one every night from start to finish. It's not like me to do something like that. I absolutely fell in love with everyone but of course Tony Soprano was the most amazing of all. What a tragic loss of such a talented man.
I met him once too at a takeout place in nyc in 2008 he was kinda shy and dint say much i dont think he liked the fame i told him that i was a big fan and no matter what movie he played in or what else he had done in his life he would always be known as tony soprano he said tell me about it and smiled shook my hand thanked me and walked away a great man!!
Ghost The slow dolly that sweeps to the side of him at dusk? No, not Atlantic City--it's a park on the Hackensack River in Secaucus, with Giants Stadium in the background. Mill Creek Point.
The sopranos was a phenomenon and it changed television drama shows. It was the first major show with so many characters where everyone mattered and was fully involved just like real life. For me this was the greatest show ever.
Totally agreed. And look how many great shows and characters came to be because of this show. Without this show or Tony Soprano, there’d be no Walter White.
*The way he speared his rigatoni, the cadence of his heavy breathing, the way he could send a chill down your spine with just his eyes.* James “Tony Soprano” Gandolfini, your legacy as an actor will live on in perpetuity.
"We're just missing each other. And eventually, we'll catch up." - Steven Van Zandt (30 minute mark of the video) Miserably beautiful, that quote. P.S. That entire thought from Steven starts about 20 seconds earlier than the timestamp I left - worth a listen for sure.
Wow was that well said by Sil or what!!! "We're just missing each other". "We just keep missing each other". "Eventually we'll catch up". What a unique way to deal with a loss.
i really like how gentle they are with him when he got overwhelmed. they don’t press him to push through it or complain, they just give him space, let him blow off some steam and give him the time he needs. he was very loved.
It’s crazy how COVID is the reason I saw the entire Sopranos and became a die hard fan very fast. Part of me regrets not seeing it when it first came out, but then again I would’ve been way too young. A big part of me is happy I got to see it older but now I’m a grown ass man missing someone as if they just recently passed. Jimmy’s passing was too soon but it’s crazy how he continues to impact people’s lives so many years later after his death… like me. This guy literally makes me want to be a better person in all aspects of life.
agree 100 percent, i started watching sopranos into it's third season when i was 14 when my brother was watching it again for the 3rd or 4th time, james gandolfini was a true master of his art
Hit it right on the head. Started watching sopranos last year at 25. I can’t believe it took me so long to catch on. I hate that the his life came to an end so abruptly. About to rewatch it all over again
That whole section was so moving. As opinion on the conflict over there sours and we become more and more removed from the reality of it, it becomes easier to lump in the everyday people who had to do the dirty work with the ones who send the innocent to war. They are not the same, and their sacrifice was real and costly, whether or not it was in vain is irrelevant when looking at it on a personal level.
Breaking Bad is an evolved version of The Sopranos, I feel. ..and just a tad bit sharper, too. However, without Tony, there would be no Walter. I think TV fans need to experience both shows before they die.
@@TyphoidBryan Oh, stop with this bullshit. The new generation is praising this Breaking Bad like it was some national treasure. The show is good, very good, in fact, but no way the writing is "sharper" or in any way superior to The Sopranos. Not even mentioning the acting aspect and overall scenarios. The Sopranos is in its own league, it's truly superb and provided the inspirations for the latter drama TV shows and movies.
Same. Saw it offered on Amazon Prime, so binge watched as well. I used to think, it can't possibly be as good as people say...it's probably just over-hyped. Couldn't have been more wrong about that!! Next to Breaking Bad, my favorite drama series of all time.
The way he addressed his son while doing his Emmy speech just made me so happy knowing that little baby grew up to play his Dad on the prequel to probably the best show in TV history. James would have been so proud to see it ❤️
I'm a 58 year old man of Italian decent and I cried every other minute while watching this film. Not only by your friends and family, you were loved by the masses. Have a good trip James Gandolfini.

A new Sopranos today would be awful. Nearly everything to come from the major streaming sites (or Hollywood) is woke propaganda. The nuance in the idea of an anti-hero (who is, among other things, racist) is beyond them at this point.
If this was the only role James Gandolfini ever played, he'd still have to go down as one of the greatest actors to ever live. When he's on the screen, he's the only one you watch. Everyone else disappears. So consistent, so intense, so brutally honest; a totally concentrated artist. I only wish he lived longer to give us more of everything he had to give. R.I.P.
We sadly recently have now lost Tony Sirico as well. There will never be as an important type of show as The Sopranos. Think about that, and let it sink in. How lucky we all are to have been able to witness the history being made for 6 seasons, every Sunday night during those seasons, we knew that we could pause what we were doing, and watch this groundbreaking historic show give us all something we had never seen before, and sadly never will again. Every couple of years, not as often as I use to, I still will watch the series, and think back to what I was doing back then, and how I would look forward to those new episodes.
Uncle Junior reading that speech at the end of the video is the proper send off Tony and him never got to share due to his dementia and the circumstances... RIP Jimmy Gandolfini. Truly inspiring, and humble man he was.
I watch the entire series of The Sopranos once a year. There isn't much else you can do that with or for that matter anything that comes near it for being so brilliant. Jim was a very talented actor and its great to be able to go back and rewatch The Sopranos and still enjoy it so much. All the cast, the script and the way it was shot was just stunningly brilliant. RIP JG
Not knocking your comment. But actors and acting has to be like that. Self defence. It is like nothing else. Imagine another business where you have to kiss someone you don't really know or grab hold of them. Then be told to do it again. Never mind the long hours in their company. You have to fall in love or you'd die.
I am so touched about how close to him were the actors of Sil and Paulie and Junior in the real life. Listening to "Silvio" near the end of this, speaking with such sadness, in denial of Gandolfini not being alive anymore is so pure and amazing... I am so glad I finally watched TheSopranos. It will be always AT LEAST top 5 Series of all time ever, probably still the no.1, the BEST Series ever made for as long as humanity will last on Earth. Ps: i wasn't speared of crying. Uncle Jun got me in the end.... What a cast Chase had for this.
I had absolutely no idea about the depth of James Gandolfini, nor about his strong moral character or his support of the troops, other than through his WWP commercials. I, too, cried watching this video.
James could go from happiness to fury within a split second, and that's just his eyes and expression, you could go to acting classes all your life but stuff like that is inside. What a talent, an actor, a patriot and a gentleman.
When I was a mailman I met him for a brief moment in Union City,N.J. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend Hans Mooy .I must admit I did not know who he was as I did not watch the show.We sat and had coffee and we just had a good conversation and I came away really liking him as a regular guy. Such a shame,so young ,so talented and just a good guy.
You can tell it's still painful for all the cast members. Even today. But Dominic Chianese (Junior) still takes it the hardest. Never realized how much it hurts him until I saw that group interview they did with all the cast members. The man feels it. Legit. That's the power of presence James had. You can see it all the cast members' faces. He left us way too damn soon.
100% you took the words right out of my mouth. Its crazy how much he has resonated with me. I just watched Sopranos for the first time and I think about it every day. James is that powerful of a person
@@Peachsnapple75 What are you talking about? Sirico was a mob associate at best, and he never did 20 years in prison, he did maybe two for armed robbery and posession of an illegal firearm.
The way he described being in denial over his death and it’s just like you’ll catch up with them one day, way to put it perfect, I lost my grandma almost 2 years ago and she was honestly my best friend and I’m still in denial about it, it just feels like we haven’t seen eachother in a long time and we’ll catch-up one day, Rip James, he was truly one the best people to exist, not just for his acting but for his values and impact on others
My father died when I was 7. It was 1975. He looked just like James Gandolfini. Or the other way around. I see "Tony", James, and immediately comes to my mind the image of my dad. Thank you Mr. Gandolfini. RIP.
My dad died of a massive heart attack at 59, in 1972 when I was almost 10, so I feel your pain. He didn't look like Jim though. This brought tears to my eyes because he was truly a goodhearted human being. And he was humble, no big ego with any of the cast.
Same to my brother who passed one year ago. He was even too mild and too cruel in the same time, not to mention the physical posture and even boldness. When I used to meet him after several months of absence I called him Tony. Really, man. I watch this, and remind those times he used to smile as a child on Tony. Big bold scary man being a child, this is something.
That poem at the end got me good, it wasn't just the words but the raw emotion in his voice as Dominic Chianese spoke. If you couldn't feel the love and sadness I feel sorry for you.
Dominic and James were VERY close.. If you've seen outtakes of The Sopranos you could tell.. there wasn't just respect there.. There was love and admiration.
Very few actors have the same presence and depth that Gandolfini had. They are completely right when they say that he projected unique emotion when acting. His body language is almost contagious--when watching him act, many start to mirror him subconsciously because of how well the audience connects with him on screen. This is actually what makes James my all-time favourite actor.
You're so right. After watching the sopranos the second time I began doing the same things that he did. The heavy breathing, the hand gestures, the facial expressions. Haha. He really was something special.

Superb Actor. In fact, will always be one of my all time favourites. Just a master class. Tony Soprano is ostensibly a horrible human being. He is a pure villain, greedy, murderous, adulterous, mean, he can be despicable.....in Gandolfinis hands, you loved him. You rooted for him. Few actors can do that. What an actor he was.
I just finished watching the Sopranos series finale for the first time. I see why some consider it the greatest show of all time. Every single character on that show felt authentic. Especially Tony. James Gandolfini was an amazing actor and person! This tribute made me cry!
Almost done with season 6, and it’s hands down one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I never knew what people meant when they said it was the best show but I was too young to watch it, I was a young Child but now I appreciate it so much. I now know what they meant. The acting and the writing it’s just amazing. It Makes me so emotional hearing everyone talking about him. He was and still will be such an amazing force. Everyone on that show and everyone who produced it are just brilliant people. I wish to meet them just to express my gratitude.
My husband and I just started watching "The Sopranos" and have now ended Season Two. I knew Jim had died years ago, and I mentioned it to my husband. He choked up. "I feel as though my best friend has just died, " he said. I told him I have a great memorial film--this on--for when he is ready. Thank you.
Man. Someone seeing the Sopranos for the first time. Literally one of life’s best experiences. And I’m not one for championing tv or pulling a couch potato life. But watching that show I’ll never forget it. Unforgettable writing & acting.
Even though the movie may have mixed reception, one thing for CERTAIN is Michael Gandolfini played Tony to near perfection. He can convey with his facial expressions as good as James.
@@jesuspernia8031 I agree, I think his performance was a faithful adaptation, the appearance is just icing on the cake. Shame we didn't see more of him in the movie

It’s been 10 years since this legend passed. I’m rewatching The Sopranos again. It took me 10 years to find out how amazing this man was and how many lives he touched. I admire his acting abilities, but it’s his love, passion, and kindness that really makes an extraordinary man. ❤ EDIT: The story of the eagle has me crying
There is a video of Gandolfini petting a random persons dog meanwhile the person is totally floored by how nice a guy he truly was. Fact he was an animal lover makes his passing all the more tragic.
I remember seeing James Gandolfini on Sesame Street. He talked about being scared, and how it was ok to be scared sometimes, cuz you always got someone looking out for you.

I extended my hand and he shook it, and he turned around and just walked away with his son. i’ll never forget it.
hahaha amazing
airports is where funny things happen
Sounds like you were an annoying POS and Jim didn’t deserve it
I recently watched the entire series and I hated it when it was over.
Wow what a great story. That’s so cool you go to me him😊

There’s so many references to him dying like that in Sopranos and it must eat those actors up that said it

The show is good, very good, in fact, but no way the writing is "sharper" or in any way superior to The Sopranos. Not even mentioning the acting aspect and overall scenarios.
Word to the wise, remember Pear Harbor.
Your comment made me cry. I remember those Sunday nights so well. The best memories.

When Edie Falco tears up talking about a scene they shot, you know that she -- and the rest of the cast -- were truly a family.
Westsoid2009 I remember that scene. It's one of the reasons the show is the great work that it is. It was real.
Not knocking your comment. But actors and acting has to be like that. Self defence. It is like nothing else. Imagine another business where you have to kiss someone you don't really know or grab hold of them. Then be told to do it again. Never mind the long hours in their company. You have to fall in love or you'd die.
That's family
I am so touched about how close to him were the actors of Sil and Paulie and Junior in the real life. Listening to "Silvio" near the end of this, speaking with such sadness, in denial of Gandolfini not being alive anymore is so pure and amazing... I am so glad I finally watched TheSopranos. Very few actors have the same presence and depth that Gandolfini had. They are completely right when they say that he projected unique emotion when acting. If anyone else is wiping snot and tears away after watching this..your not the lone ranger.. I cried all the way through it.. R.I.P. to James Gandolfini ..best actor of all time hands down🙏🙌🏼👏👏🥺🥰
The scene where he’s telling Chris to respect him actually makes me emotional, the calibre of actor that man was is incredible, RIP big Jim
On my 10th run watching the Sopranos , my gf has never watched it & she is in awe... the writing , the depth , tony & melfi's talks , & the scenes with Gandolfini & just the range of emotions he showed you through his eyes ...
Dude was on another level
The halmark of an amazing actor
Any update? Are you guys still together
jattada1 hell yeah & going strong 💪 she at home whipping dinner up for me
That poem by Dominic Chianese was beautiful. R.I.P. James Gandolfini. We miss you.
his uncle
“Remember When” is definitely *not* the lowest form of conversation when it comes to Jim. Rest easy buddy ❤
I physically and emotionally grieved Jim's loss... He was one of a kind and is sorely missed. If he could come back and see the amount of love and respect he has from so many people around the world he would be truly overwhelmed. David Chase is a total genius. Soprano's would have to be the best show on TV. RIP Jim x x
`"We didn't lose Tony Soprano.
We lost James Gandolfini."
@Dominus Ghaul why are you watching this video right now if I can ask you
Dominus Ghaul i did not say that we did not lose james gandolfini

He was a great man and actor with a smile that was warmer than the sun.
The world needs more James Gandolfinis. R.I.P.

He was the last one
Now we mourn the loss of Tony Sirico… rip.
we are indeed
Tony Sirico and Steve Van Zandt literally just played themselves on The Sopranos.
Steve Schirripa's voice breaking when he says "that was bad"... heartbreaking.
Dont mean to be rude.but how did he pass..
heart attack @@garrywatson7717
Just finished the Sopranos today.. I never met James, but somehow I'm heartbroken by his loss and incredibly moved by this documentary. RIP James Gandolfini. RIP Legend.
It’s been 10 years since this legend passed. I’m rewatching The Sopranos again.
It took me 10 years to find out how amazing this man was and how many lives he touched.
I admire his acting abilities, but it’s his love, passion, and kindness that really makes an extraordinary man. ❤
EDIT: The story of the eagle has me crying
There is a video of Gandolfini petting a random persons dog meanwhile the person is totally floored by how nice a guy he truly was. Fact he was an animal lover makes his passing all the more tragic.
I remember seeing James Gandolfini on Sesame Street. He talked about being scared, and how it was ok to be scared sometimes, cuz you always got someone looking out for you.
