Someone in a documentary said Kai is the Ian Paice of Nightwish, and Jukka was the John Bonham. I'd agree with that. Kai is great, but Jukka was something else.
if floor had the voice, he had the heart. I plan to see them live one day and I am bummed that he will not be on stage, however Kai is very talented.
All those who miss Jukka check Nightwish show at Himos Finland 2016
Jukka visited the show and was behind the drums during the song Last Ride of the Day.
He was warmly welcomed by band mates and the crowd went absolutely grazy.
I also miss Jukka a lot but at the same time I’m happy that it was Kai who replaced him
Kai is a brilliant technician but Jukkz is the showman. How many drummers do you know that stand up to beat the sh1t out of the cymbals?

Ghost River is not particularly "angry", Weak Fantasy from Tampere would be better (and it has Kais drum solo at the start!). That being said, Ghost River is awesome too :-)

Watch High Hope from the end of an era show. They nail this pink floyd tribute and Marko is amazing. Also the lyrics are very poignant as they fired Tarja right after the show.

of her vocals.
We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.

You should react to the whole concert as a 4 part series. I shit you not. EVERY song in the Wacken 2013 setlist is killer. Trust me !

This is like a huge energy blast! Floor's and Marko's power duet at the end is once in a lifetime experience. Thsnk you! 👫
If you like Marko's voice, he fronts vocals on some Nightwish songs. He and his brother started a band, which came to be called Tarot, in the 80s, and continued even after he joined Nightwish. Marko was the front man and bassist for Tarot for over 20 years. He has also been a guest singer with Delain, Within Temptation, Ayreon and other bands. There is a third singer, Troy, who plays multiple instruments, Uilleann pipes, tin whistles, guitar, bouzouki, and others - and he also uses an e-bow on a guitar in some songs.
You have no idea, next on your list has to be yours is an empty hope live at wembley. Pay attention to Floor in the chorus
Marco is the bass player and he has massive voice. Jukka was the drummer. Emppu is the guitar player and the master mind behind every song is Tuomas, the keyboard player. Floor is actually third Nightwish singer. Original singer was Tarja, then Anette and now Floor. Floor is a gift from the sky! ❤️

Marco Hietala, the bass player could be lead singer on most any other band. Watch and listen to Nightwish tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes, with Marco singing the entire song. Also, The Islander, and most importantly, he sings most all of the lead in Endlessness, from their new album Human Nature. He is AMAZING!
The next Nightwish song will always be your favourite !!

I love how you are able to react and comment on the drumming with in-depth knowledge and professionalism. I always watch Jukka's working, his full committment, the expressions (mark the expressions!!) and the sheer power he is (was) capable to put into each and every song.
(Full disclosure: "I have my own cow in the ditch here". My given name is Jukka too. Also from Finland... :) )
It would be perfect if you could give us some extra details, note the techniques, tricks and whatever you can pick and find in the drumming performance. I'd love to learn more on that.

The current drummer of Nightwish, Kai Hahto, has several drumcam videos of him performing live, so once you watch the live performance with the band, if interested you can either watch the drumcam for that song on your on time or react to it here. Kai also was in a band called Wintersun and they have a studio performance of their song Sons Of Winter And Sun, which has incredible drumming.
Rapid fire double base drums used to be a common thing back in Nightwish's power metal days.
Romanticide is fire, it is really, really good. Floor just totally owns it.
Floor and Marco were born to sing together. One of the best duos in any genre that I've heard.

Jukka is a beast with the drums, he can rapid fire double bass for more than a minute straight.
I liked Jukka drum playing very much, but Kai is lighting fast. You will see on the up coming reaction. Kai and Jukka were best friends, so the change was easy for the band. I would like to see a song were they both play drums, that would be awesome. GREAT reaction, need to include the misses when you can.

The drummer Jukka is and was great, it was so sad he had to step down because of severe insomnia issue.
He was replaced by Kai Hahto, incredible drummer as well.

Sure, Jukka does a lot double kick, but their new drummer is a real beast if you like really fast stuff. Search "Kai Hahto Rotten Sound". That "Obey" has insane double bass...or "Kai Hahto Meshuggah War". Even Tomas Haake himself called Kai a beast, after he watched that video. Awful quality on those videos, but every drummer needs to watch them =) Then there is that huge epic song by Kai's former band, Wintersun - The Sons Of Winter And Stars (Live on Sonic Pump Studios). That is something every metal drummer probably enjoy, and you can find a lot of drum clinic and drumcam videos from that song. Even most of the drummers can't really digest everything from that Wintersun video.
But even that Kai is one of the best drummers in the world, Jukka is my favorite. He really knows what sounds good on NIGHTWISH song, and he is such a showman.

As a drummer, you just owe it to yourself to watch Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars, the live studio rehearsal. The drummer in that is Kai Hahto, he is the current drummer for Nightwish after Jukka (the drummer you saw in this video) had to step back due to health problems. (He's still with the band managing their company)

Emppu have an onstage amp, it's there for three reasons. Feedback (like in this video), to keep his Corona on, and to keep an endless supply of picks to throw out in the crowd.

Thanks for the reaction mate :) if you could, we'd love some more technical information. Obviously as recruits of the Nightwish Army, we love it and think they're awesome... But many of us are not musicians or singers, so we'd love to hear more info regarding instruments, notes the gocaousts hit, etc, as we already know how much they rock, and as a metal drummer, you'd know more than us. :)
