You've heard just Ghost Love Score from Wacken? No Ever Dream? No Song of Myself? No Romanticide? No Dark Chest of Wonders? No Last Ride of the day? Oh boy..... :D Wait, not even Weak Fantasy from Tampere? Just pick one, it will be fun, I promise :)
The entire Wacken 2013 set list was stellar, starting with the first one, "Dark Chest Of Wonders". Thank you for a joyful reaction! Waiting / hoping for more Nightwish, I'll subscribe.
Jukka is the most creative drummer I've ever heard. Not only a consummate showman, but he weaves some really complicated rhythms and wonderful riffs in ways that elevate the songs even more. That section in the middle when he comes in after the piano and chorus, he has multiple threads going on at the same time, all driving the music in a hypnotic dance. Dark Chest of Wonders, the opener for this show, is another great showcase for Jukka in absolute beast mode (which, to be fair, was always).
ISTR from a Kai interview that some of Jukka's patterns he had to write down exactly and then took some three days practice to get them right. Jukka has made a guest appearance on Last Ride of the Day, there's a couple of fan-cam videos that are quite acceptable. Himos Park, Jämsä 20.8.2016
I also miss Jukka, because he's so fun to watch. He puts so much power into everything he does. That being said, it's really hard to deny Kai Hahto's incredible drumming skill. Kai is also in Wintersun, check out Sons of Winter and Stars.
Fun fact: Kai is the drummer that taught Jukka how to play metal drumkits. Not joking. They also kept in constant touch, are best of best friends, and play each others' shit all the time, so technically, TECHNICALLY, Jukka can do Kai's blastbeats from Wintersun, but Kai is the stamina master. That's why when Jukka stepped down because his insomnia was becoming medically dangerous, Kai was only too happy to step in. Nightwish needed the best drummer on short notice, they got one of the greatest ever to sit on a drum throne.
As a fellow drummer (and fellow Strike Pro owner) - Ever Dream from the same show absolutely next. The last minute of that song when Jukka brings in the double kicks after the breakdown is like a freight train barreling at you at 70mph and all you can do is get out of the way - every member of the band firing on all cylinders giving 110%...facemelting..
Dear god, you have to try the lyric video to Tribal. The new drummer, Kai, had to add five drums to his kit in order to play the song... I figure as a drummer yourself you'd get a kick out of it
This is perhaps their most "radio friendly" song, and I really think everyone and I mean EVERYONE in North America should be requesting this on their local rock radio stations. THIS version! Let's create a real buzz and build the Army so big that when Nightwish comes here to play again, they will be able to fill arenas instead of smaller venues. Come on people! JUST DO IT!
Yep, go for it; see if you can crack the corporate bubble of the US music industry and cut a few of their strings, it's high time you guys get some good music and not be force-fed only what is money-making for the industry.
Jukka is the most badass drummer to ever walk the earth. Not necessarily saying he is the *best* of all time (he might be, I dunno but he's friggin fantastic) but he is definitely the most *badass.* Keeping up with Holopainens insane and *long* compositions without ever missing a beat. And doing it while rocking a pirate look that would make Johnny Depp nervous.
Love your Nightwish reactions, and that your not pausing it but talk over it but in perfect sound lvls. I also didnt belive i couldnt hear the songs before in every new song i discovered by Nightwish.
Another reactor with true passion for music. Floor is the best and so so special! I look forward to your next video my friend. We all miss Jukka, but Kai is damn good as well. Peace.
Anything from WAcken 2013, Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018 is pure gold. Kai Hatho that replaced Jukka is a monster drummer too. Check out Weak Fantasy - Live at Tampere. Nightwish can go hard and loud.
Kai is definitely one of the best drummers in metal, and he can play Jazz also. Tomas Haake called Kai a monster, after he saw Kai playing Meshugga's War. You can find video about it, althou it's very low quality. Or search "kai hahto rotten sound". There are also many drumcams with decent quality, including many Nightwish and Wintersun songs.
I'm so pleased that Nightwish are getting the exposure that they so deserve. The amount of 'reactors' on UA-cam that say "Why have I never heard of this band/song before?" Could it be that because Nightwish are from Finland and Holland (i.e not American or British) and that populist radio stations only play generic, formulaic rock/metal music?
I still miss Jukka's energy he put his heart & soul in his drumming. That being said you should really check out their new Drummer Kai. He is ,in my opinion, one of the best drummers of our time. Check out Wintersun's Sons of Winter & Stars the Live from Sonic Pump Studio's , and his drum play thru of it where he breaks down different parts of the song I think you will enjoy it. As for more Nightwish let's stick with Jukka for now I'll recommend Last Ride of the Day, from Wacken 2013, & Over the Hills & Far Away (Gary Moore cover) from End of an Era (I love Jukka's drumming on this one and it will let your ears experience Nightwish's original lead singer Tarja).
From this same epic concert Wacken 2013, Ghost River, Song of Myself, Romanticide, Dark Chest of Wonders, Everdream, actually the whole concert is a can’t go wrong. 🤟🤟✌️✌️🇨🇦
Thank you for a fun reaction - loved your energy :) Now, others have suggested loads of awesome Nightwish songs for you, _however_ , you being a drummer yourself, I’d like to suggest a song that will *blow your mind* due to the drumming in it - Kai Hahto actually had to add about 5 new drums to his _(already substantial)_ drum kit for this song :D The song is called _”Tribal”_ , and is from their new album. Due to it being new and the pandemic, no live video is available yet, but they’ve put out a really cool lyric video for it, that I would highly recommend. I’d love to see your reaction to it because it’s an awesome song, with epic drumming - but hearing any “professional” comments you’d have, due to your knowledge of drumming, would be super interesting!
Epica also has a awesome drummer. Epica - Consign into oblivion live at Zenith By the way, the singer(floor) is married to the drummer of Sabaton! Hannes van Dahl
Jukka is a great and very charismatic drummer. Since he has retired to a management position and Kai has taken over the drums in the latest album are insane. Kai is a human metronome and ex grindcore and jazz drummer, he speed and technique is off the charts.
Loved your reaction, subscribed immediately! I discovered Nightwish about 2 years ago, been loving them ever since. I’m going to see them live in Amsterdam on the 10th of May 2021!! So proud of Floor being a Dutchie myself 🇳🇱 Check out 2 of my favorites Yours is an Empty Hope (Floor growls in that one) and 7 Days to the Wolves 🐺🐺 live at Wembley 2015. Love the harmonies between Floor and Marko 😍
This was super fun to watch, dude! I don’t usually go in for reaction videos because I find the reactions distracting, but yours were great, Bryan. I love that you didn’t talk over the music too much, and that you didn’t stop the video to go on and on and on about whatever. Great video!
Thanks for the reaction! I love both the song and this particular performance - it's always fun to watch the crowd go nuts when Floor picks forth her classical voice from the toolbox. Well, fun to watch if I'm for once not going nuts myself, that is!
The power of Floor Jansen's voice comes straight from Asgard, you can't convince me otherwise. She will be there providing the soundtrack for Ragnarok.
This was My 1st song I've heard sung by Floor.. And I was blown away. Nightwish have had another singer before which was more like a pop singer then metal, and then I thought "song seems nice and interesting but someone is missing". After hearing Wacken version by Floor I knew what was missing. FLOOR was missing 😅😋
fun fact: Nightwish got a new drummer in 2015. Kai from Wintersun. it took him 2 1/2 hours of watching this performance over and over to get the entire middle section down on paper.
Spooky!? Try the Nightwish Movie Imaginaerum!!! Any song from that album of the same name - the originals with Annette or more recently with Floor. Jukka is still involved with Nightwish but I miss his antics on stage and in the clips. Subbed for Nightwish! It's a great ride through the rabbit hole and there are weasels! (When you get to the Tampere gig it will become clear!)
Yes man, that was also my reaction when i first heard this song. Good that you show it to your wive, and maybe you can let her join the next reaction..
Well bloody done, boyo! Great as far as reaction videos go, and I look forward to more. The drum covers are excellent too. XD If you're doing reaction videos now, I'll put my coin in the hat for Alestorm - Walk the Plank.
Thnx 4 this. Go on with the stuff. Wellcome to the Nightwish army^^. Please listen to Song of myself, live at Wacken. And, i am sure this will leave you speachless, the Gratest show on earth at Tampere. Due to Marco's voice , the wiking bassman, give The phantom of the opera a try, the"old" Nightwish singer Tarja will show her quality as well. Peace from Germany
Oh, also, lemme do my normal. Have you heard of BAND-MAID? :-D The obvious suggestion is "Freedom" Live from 14 Feb 2020, as it's drum-centric. BAND-MAID's drummer, Akane Hirose, is pretty special, and really most of their songs have interesting drumming choices for you to enjoy. I think you'd appreciate what she brings to the band's sound.
Freedom has my favorite drumming part. 🤘😎🤘 Perhaps he would also enjoy the singing drummer in the first song here? ua-cam.com/video/yV8gpIrIR9s/v-deo.html
you should check out Epica also they are like Nightwish a Symphonic Metal band they however also use Real Orchestras and Backing Choirs. Epica-Sancta Terra Floor guested with their singer Simone Simons they sounded like 2 Angels.
Only picked you up to today...cool reaction. Don't know how many Nightwish songs you've reacted to or how much of their catalog you're familiar with...but they're getting a lot of rotation lately and their Army is highly charged. I'm in the Nightwish Army reserves meaning a full fledged fan and weekend UA-cam warrior. If you haven't already checked out Ever Dream from the same Wacken set, it's pure 🔥 and one of my favorites. The oft neglected Last of the Wilds (instrumental) reaches me on a tribal level and is worthy of NW. Give it a spin!
I would love to see a drummer's reaction to Planet Hell. The drum work in that song is amazing. Particularly the End of an Era version; Jukka was absolutely on fire for that show.
This is first video of you that i have found (its obvious i am just another soldier from the Nightwish army) and i genuinely liked your reaction. Maybe you should react to some of the other Nightwish songs along with your wife :) Keep it strong \../
@4:06 that one guy in the crowd front left with the hat shows up in multiple videos at this concert and he always stands out not clapping or whatever. He seems so out of place. Time traveller goin back to just endulge in this majestic concert I bet xD
Subbing for more Nightwish. ANYTHING from the Wacken show is the finest vintage but you must experience Song of Myself, Everdream and Romanticide at the bare minimum!
Jukko is really fun to watch. I gotta ask, is his style not very efficient? When I watch guys like Kai or the drummer from Slayer, they have conservation of motion. Jukko is just going nuts.
Romanticide from Wacken has some nice double bass and is just generally a really heavy song. You’ll like it pretty well I think, as well as Dark Chest of Wonders being a hard hitter
If you are a special fan of hardest songs may it's not, otherwise Storytime, this Wacken version is the best you can get; very catchy mind blowing energy live performance...it is still my favorite song I can hear again and again.
She is such an incredible performer. 👏👏👏
