You can't close the door on metal maiden Monday or Nightwish until you've done the Greatest show on earth live from Tampere!!!
Pete Thorley don’t worry no door is getting closed. We will just break our streak of Metal Maiden Mondays.
Storytime live, darkchest of wonder... etc
@@ChemicalReactions Soooh, you really want us to be patient..... hmm fine! keep us in suspension. Pete is right though!! Don't keep us waiting to long!!
This!
Pete, Is that the one with the guest star at the end? (I'm not spoiling it!)
This song was on the album 'Once' which indeed was the Tarja era. This album contained many amazing songs such as Ghost Love Score, Wish I Had An Angel, Nemo, Dark Chest of Wonders and more. It was released Jan 5th 2004.
Nightwish is def a Symphonic Metal band but they incorporate all aspects. They can do soft, or bring the harder aspects of heavy metal. They're super diverse. Theres nothing they cant do.
Joseph Sandlin They definitely are very diverse!
Man! U literally named all my favorite songs from the album
@@roy358 mine too lol plus the siren
That is to me their best álbum yet
Agreed. I think ONCE and EFMB are my 2 favs.
The drummer you saw in Poet And The Pendulum is Kai Hahto (former member of Wintersun). Nightwish just announced today that Kai is going to be their drummer in the future aswell. Speaking of Wintersun, you really should react to that epic band. My suggestion would be Time live at Sonic Pump Studios.
It's a bummer Jukka won't be back. But he's still a big part of Nightwish, dealing with their business side now, as he was always doing from the beginning anyway.
Kai Hahto still plays with Wintersun when his duties in Nightwish don't interfere. He was out for awhile though with a 'home-improvement' injury.
Ok, that makes sense. They definitely looked different.
I'll miss Jukka's lil face, but Kai has been doing a hell of a job. I hope Jukka is ok though
@The Book Report Jukka just posted today on social media that he is doing fine, and since he stopped touring with Nightwish his insomnia is more under control. But he also said he officially stepped down today, because if he were to start drumming/touring again his condition would come back.
You want heavy?
Yours is an empty hope. Check it out.
Wintersun is much heavier
Need the Wembley one !
@@nightxandria2724 Hellyeah
lmao if they want heavy they should do Master Passion Greed
Or ghost river
The drummer from Wacken was Jukka Nevalainen, who is staying in an administrative position with Nightwish. The drummer from Wembley was Kai Hahto, filling in for Jukka (and now a full-time permanent member, as of today). He is also the drummer for Wintersun, though after today's announcement, I don't know if that will continue.
It probably will, Marco is also doing other projects beside Nightwish, he just released a solo album and plays with other bands once in a while. Tuomas also has solo projects and composes for other singers as well. So there is plenty of time for Kai to play with Wintersun.
@@sovex9331 Yeah, but keeping up a touring schedule with two different full-time bands might be more than anyone could handle - could be all kinds of scheduling conflicts, and which band would then have to carry a substitute for him if that happens? I'm not sure that would be fair to either band.
@@akpilon Well he has been touring with Nightwish for a long time at this point, so I doubt that that will be an issue. It's not like both bands tour 12 months a year every year.
@@sovex9331 Wintersun already have a replacement drummer. And I don't think Kai has drummed for WIntersun ever since he joined NW anyway. Looks to me hes out of Wintersun now.
@@akpilon just ask Corey Taylor after he did a tour with Slipknot and Stone Sour co headlining
Nightwish had to change drummers after the 2013 tour due to Jukka Nevalainen's (the original drummer through 2013) health issues -- since 2013 Kai Hahto has been their drummer (that's who you saw on the video for "The Poet and the Pendulum").
Nightwish have a wide variety of metal styles. They go everything from soft and heavy ballads, musical theater, folk metal, metal-opera etc. Toumas never really dedicated himself to a certain style of metal, he also admits that the operatic style of Tarja wasn't his original plan but he made it work. Dark passion play and imaginaerum albums are acctually quite heavy when it comes to Nightwish, written with the 2nd singer Anette in mind. Anette had more of a pop/rock/Jazz tone to her voice which called for a full on style change. However this was also due to the state of mind of Toumas, since he had been feeling really bad since they seperated from Tarja.
When they released the last album you could really notice that Toumas had become happier, since most of the tracks are really uplifting and happy, compared to the previous two albums more gloomy wibe. Endless forms most Beautiful, are really living up to it's name since most of the songs are really beautiful and focus on appreciation of life, evolution and living your life as you want to. Even the heavier tracks on that album are just a big smile fiesta. Floor's growlings in Yours an empty hope, the use of aucustic instruments in Weak fantasy etc. Toumas are also a great fan of Zimmer, hence he really enjoy to make Nightwish sound a bit like a movie track from time to time. If I whould describe Nightwish in just one phrase I whould say "A dark chest of wonders".
I'm surprised more people don't request dark chest of wonders.. Absolutely amazing song.
@@benrobertson5320 Yes it is... It's probably the best opener they ever had since the lyrics are great for a concert intro. I just like everything the band ever produced even that out of the blue Jazz track Slow, love, slow... and I'm not into Jazz at all normally.
On a side note, It's my birthday and Floor just Tweeted "That she is in the cabin rehearsing the new NW album". That's all the birthday presents I will need!
You need to react to Nightwish cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" Marco is amazing
Undercovers! Our new cover vs. original series!
Oh have I got some good ones for that.. Halifax "Straight up" :)
@@ChemicalReactions i´m in to
For more harder Nightwish check out "Yours is an empty hope" from the Nightwish Cruise, and Ghost River (Wacken 2013), also shows a little more of what Floor can do with her voice ;) Thank you for another great reaction, looking forward to the next one :)
The drummer here is Jukka, but she had to leave the band for health problems (imsomnia) and was replaced by Kai Hahto. Jukka is still in the band in charge of business and stuff like that, but since TODAY Kai is the official drummer. This song is from Tarja era (2004). And if you know heavy things listen to Master Passion Greed (great Marco's vocals) or Yours is an Empty Hope, for example.
You guys should also react to "I Want My Tears Back" by Nightwish also from the Wakken 2013 show. It has more Marco vocals and great chemistry between him and Floor.
This is also one of the now former drummer Jukka's final big shows with the band due to dealing with severe issues with debilitating insomnia. The band just released a press release TODAY (7-15-19) that the drummer from Wintersun that has been filling in for him ever since is now the PERMANENT drummer for Nightwish. Jukka will still stay heavily involved running the more mundane day to day business of the band behind the scenes.
I would suggest "Yours is an Empty Hope" . You will get to hear some more of Floor's range.....
THX. For You two...What a pleasure to watch that Nightwish torch going from genereation to another...❤
You probably should do "song of myself" from Wacken 2013 just to finish this little series off. Another slightly different style. Think you'll like it.
Love your reactions. Also the combination of your styles: Chuck thinking out loud and keeping the conversation going, and Juliette always thinking things through before she speaks and being spot on. Great combo. Will watch even more.
Symphonic Metal is Metal, period. And this is the same drummer as in "Ghost Love Score," Jukka. It's from that same concert in Wacken.
This drummer transitioned temporarily to administrative duties due to severe insomnia, and today they announced that he is doing great, but doesn't want to push his luck by returning to the band. So they announced that the change will be permanent.
He will still continue handling the business side of Nightwish and be a part of the band in that way, a role he seems to be enjoying. Also the new drummer is a good friend of his, so there is no bad blood or drama there (like with Anette and Tarja)
Jukka announced today that he will be leaving permanently and Kai will become a permanent member.
@@swingro2011 Yes, that is what I wrote
Wintersun - Wintersun (2004)
Wintersun - Time 1 (2012)
Wintersun - The Forest Season (2017)
Last Ride Of The Day
She Is My Sin
I Want My Tears Back
All from the same Nightwish concert live at Wacken 2013. Great songs.
This is the same drummer (Jukka Nevalainen) that you saw on Ghost Love Score. The songs were same concert, same evening, only about 20 minutes apart. This drummer (about 42-ish) is the one who took a medical leave of absence. The drummer on Poet & the Pendulum was his friend, Kai Hahto (formerly of Wintersun) who he asked to fill in for him as understudy. They are roughly the same age. Coincidentally, Jukka just made it official in a press release this morning that he is retiring from the drumkit permanently and will NOT be returning to the stage with Nightwish. Kai is now his permanent replacement. Jukka, however, is still working for Nightwish in a stay-at-home, senior management position so that he can attend only to business related matters, spend more time with his wife and children, and better manage his medical issue. We will miss him sadly. He was a great showman behind the drumskins in addition to being a great drummer.
For under cover Pink Floyd/Nightwish - High Hopes for sure is a must have!
Yeah, Elize Ryd (
I was at the show Annete was sick at. Elize Ryd did an amazing job. Her main band is Amaranthe.
the drummer in the song poet and the pendulum is another one. the original drummer suffered from insomnia, so he had to step down, he still has a big part of the band behind the scenes tho. he recomended this drummer and he is amazing, check him out in the poet and the pendulum, and the greatest show on earth..
this is incredible, I really really like this
Suggestions for Metal Maiden Mondays :
Delain - Fronted by Charlotte Wessels
Within Temptation - Fronted by Sharon den Adel
Metal Maiden Mondays are on hold.
Then lets add Marcella Bovio(Stream of Passion/Ayreon) and Anneke van Giersbergen (former The Gathering/the Gentle Storm/VuuR/Ayreon) to the list.
MindMaze - Sarah Teets
Once Human - Lauren Hart
Dark Sarah - Heidi Parviainen
@@danieldekker9493 Plz. watch video. No mohr MMM"S.
Too bad MMM are on hold, really recommend these metal maidens too!
*"Romanticide" is like "Ghost Love Score" from the album "ONCE" [released on June 5th, 2004] . It is the last studio-album with Tarja. It contains with "Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Wish I Had An Angel" and "Nemo" the best album-start beside "Dark Passion Play" [released in 2007] ("The Poet And The Pendulum", "Bye-Bye Beautiful" and "Amaranth").*
I am German. You pronounced Wacken absolutely right.
One of the very few reactions to this song.
Basically, this is one of the heaviest Nightwish sonds. And this is epic as hell. It deserves more videos! Thanks.
96annihilator You’re Welcome!
You still need to react to Storytime and I want my tears back live from Wacken !
In this concert it is still Jukka on the the drums.. In 2014 Kai joined because of insomnia problems Jukka had.. By coincidence Nightwish stated today Jukka will not return and Kai will stay on full time.
I think I've seen the documentary you spoke of. Need to look it up and watch again. Being a native speaker of Finnish I don't need the subtitles. Just found your channel today. Immediately had the urge to sub.
Welcome to the Nightwish Train. My suggestion for the versatility of this band would be "Amaranth" also from Wacken 2013, The Greatest Show on Earth, and "The Poet and the Pendulum. Thats all very Great Songs.
Have a check out of Nightwish live at Tempere, "The greatest show on earth". Its 20 minutes long but its worth every moment!
This is from same album as Ghost love. 2004 Once
First off, i am german and i must say, your pronounciation of "Wacken" was really good. Absolutely no complaints about that. And as always, great reaction video, keep it up. You two are cool.
The original drummer, this one, had to take a leave to start treatments for extremely serious case of insomnia (sometimes even 5-7 days without sleeping). Older guy came from Wintersun. All songs on Wacken 2013 are either from Tarja era or Anette era. First studio album with Floor came two years after. Out of eight studio albums, five were with Tarja, two with Anette and Floor is only on the last one they made.
That's brutal.
A great reaction. I like the audience's impressions. This certainly works as a empowering song for someone. So I think at least. The dialogue between Marco and Floor is brilliant.
at the end, in harmony with Marko, she went to a D6 note & ended with a banshee wail. what a woman.
btw: doing a great job!
I don’t have much to recommend but I love your reactions and commentary!!!
This concert has Jukka Nevalainen on drums and the Poet and the Pendulum show has Kai Hahto from the band Wintersun. In 2014, Jukka couldn't tour anymore from complications with insomnia.
Nightwish made a statement yesterday that Jukka has left the band for good, and Kai is a new permanent member of the nand now.
I’m so floored for this video!😂
Someone finally got it! In back sight I should’ve capitalized the F😕
it's the same drummer as Ghost Love Score, but they changed drummers and I believe the new drummer is in The Poet and the Pendulum video.
This will be interesting to see. It's my favorite song by Nightwish. They cut to the cheese right away and play good music and sing duo perfectly. It doesn't showcase Floor as in Ghost Love Score but she good just the same.
All the music is pre Floor, she joined the band at Wacken 2013 and is said she had 36 hrs. to learn and get ready for this show!
Hahaha.. Thts funny, the ASmR intro.
Waken = Voken (Germany)
Romanticide displaying great showmanship of the band in a single song
> angelic valkyrie
> awesome guitar solo
> dramatic drum solo
> powerful backing vocal
> good song composition
Like ur reaction video, thumbsup 👍👍👍
Nice reaction!!! Love Nightwish!
Great reaction! I like your hair up Juliet, and Chuck nice hat! (I'm from Boston) :)
firebugjohnnypyro We lived in Watertown for two years!
It’s official y’all, Kai Hoto, the former drummer for Wintersun, is now the full time drummer Nightwish.
No idea how this happened but suddenly today our The Poet and the Pendulum got unblocked! Hooray! Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/b-TWFuUBlRg/v-deo.html
This is from Once 2004. This song is right before Ghost Love Score on the album. Tarja was the vocalist. End of an Era is her final concert with Nightwish and has some of their best performances on it.
If you are interested in exploring Nightwish, the history, here is a list of four great songs: High hopes, a pink floyd cover where Marco shines; Phantom of the Opera, which has Tarja at her best; Shudder before the beautiful from wembley which shows their incredible energy level with Floor; and The Greatest Show on Earth which is their highest artistic achievement. As a bootleg bonus, try 10th man down, edited by metalwish, which nicely shows off the hard rock quality of present day Nightwish on ˋ a regular day at work‘ from a viewer perspective.
This performance is incredible! It really showcases the heavy side of Nightwish and like Juliet said, it also showcases what Floor can do with her voice.
Y'all should check out The Siren from Nightwish's End of an Era show. It has Tarja singing and this is probably my favorite song with her in the band. I think you'll like it!
If you want to hear Floor growl, she did a guest performance on Soilwork - Let this river flow live from Helsinki. She's amazing !!
However, if you want to listen more of the heavy side of Nightwish, you MUST listen "Slaying the dreamer", "Yours is an Empty Hope" (Floor is growling there), "Weak Fantasy" at Tampere; and the HEAVIEST song (by far) of Nightwish and one of my favorites: "MASTER PASSION GREED"
i recommend yours is an empty hope @wembley ! and floor's growls are so cool in that!
'Yours is an empty hope' the heavyest Song from Nightwish for me
You missed out on The Kinslayer?
Epica - Consign to Oblivion (Live at Zenith) PLEASE!!!
By the way, the drummer in the video just announced his retirement. Jukka suffered insomnia while touring, and has been working for the band "behind the curtains" for the last 5 years. He'll stay on behind the scenes, but his unique drumming will be missed.
The metal sound you speak of is the "crunch" the heavier the sound the crunchier 🤘
Steve Minghini The crunch comes from the palm mute!
Try I Want My Tears Back (Live From Buenos Aires 2018) shes´s dancing and jumping on the stage
Romanticide was on the 'Once' album form 2004; the same album has the studio version of 'Ghost Love Score'
You are an amazing father and daughter. I love Juliette's comments, she's always so perceptive and spot on.
The Drummer from this show had health issues and stepped down, the drummer on Poet at Wembley was the current drummer.
I watched your The Poet and the Pendulum about an hour ago seems great to me
Excellent video! Glad you like this song. One of my favorites from Nightwish. If you liked Marco's vocals, you should check out some stuff from the solo album he recently released. My suggestion is the music video for Isäni ääni on Marco's official YT page.
To hear how really great a voice Marco has, check out "The Islander" live from Tampere 2015. It's actually a folk type ballad that he wrote way back when, but really showcases what would be his more natural and very impressive voice. Floor provides beautiful back up on that one. And enjoy a sample of a lilting ballad from Floor from the same concert: "Sleeping Sun". (BTW, gotta ditch the Redsox hat! :-)
Saw the book Genes in your shelf behind your. Genes, DNA, evolution, science - there’s the theme for you guys to react with The Greatest Show On Earth, the Tampere live version. Tuomas, the Metal Mozart has composed a masterpiece, can you pick those few sound bites of other composers hidden into the song?
Oh, you asked for older production. Nemo song by their first singer Tarja was really nice back in the days when I was younger. :)
This wasnt the first solo you heard ;) You had a guitar solo in Ghost Love Score aswell (right before the pause/intermission section of the song)
Moon Moon hmmm.. I guess it didn’t strike me as much.
hahahahh asmr always welcome before and after metal or rock
The album was entitled ONCE from 2004

you guys can go a long time without blinking at times damn
Battle Beast for the metal Maiden Monday
I totally agree with you. Very few music reaction channels will give Battle Beast a chance.
Black Ninja!
I'm loving Nightwish more and more with every song of them I listen too. Floor is unbelievable.
I'd really love it if you guys went back to Jinjer at some point when you can, they're an amazing band and they have a big back catalog for you to explore. In particular 'Teacher, Teacher' off of their latest EP is a fantastic song for you guys to react to.
Please check out yours is an empty hope by nightwish marco takes lead vocals and floor does screams.
If you love Floor (as all we do), you should listen some of her other bands:
ReVamp - where she really did experimented on all types of singing and did a great job and I personally loved.
Northward - this is a side project she had on hiatus and finally on 2018 saw the light to the world and is so different to any other stuff Floor has done but it is impressive how she sounds so comfortable doing it.
After Forever is where she started, and it has a nostalgic value for me as I followed them since their first full album and I liked Floor since, but you can listen to them in your free time and not for a video to see the road Floor has traveled to become the goddess she is now.
keep doing this awesome reactions to great music, we love to see how people react to our favorite music!
\m/,
you guys should check out Nightwish's Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean live in Buenos Aires
Volbeat is awesome!!...I've watched them go from a small club to stadium tours. Check out Sad Man's Tongue, We, Radio Girl, Doc Holiday, Wild Rover of Hell, The Mirror and the Ripper, The Loa's Crossroad.
For future Metal Maiden Monday, Lita Ford is a must do.
Love Nightwish! You guys should check out their rendition of Phantom of the Opera. Also in preparation for Knotfest check out Gojira-Heaviest Matter in the Universe!
Ghost Love Score has a solo... ^_^
As for the song, it was released long ago, in Tarja era. It was the last album with her. The album is called Once.
You're launching this video at the same day Nightwish sent a message about Jukka Nevalainen (the drummer in this song and all the history of Nightwish), who left the band because he was sick. Today Nightwish announced that Kai Hahto is the new official drummer 😓.
Yes, we asked them to delay their announcement until we were ready to launch! ;)
Nice hat dude, go Sawks! Welcome to Nightwish!
one NightWish song i would like to see someone do a reaction to, is "Passion and the Opera", it's one of my all time favorite nightwish songs and the song that got me into NightWish in the first place when someone suggested it on Napster (christ that's going back some)
Yes, the guitarist and bassist are tuned down to D
John Hitchens what a musical ear I have!
this was in Tarja era album Once from 2004

Eduardo Rodríguez Lived a few years in Boston! Currently living in Yankees country though west of the Hudson!
The drummer on Poet and the Pendulum that you saw was new he replaced Jukka who’s the drummer here.
Coincidence. Jukka announced today that he will leave the band permanently and Kai will become a permanent member of the band after replacing Jukka for 5 years now.
swingro totally planned that way! 😉
Respectively, a minor correction for Juliette (did I spell that right?)
This Wacken show took place in August 2013. Floor's first show with the band was in early October 2012 in Seattle.
I was stationed near Seattle back then but did a road trip to Salt Lake City 2 day prior to the Seattle show and saw Nightwish (and Kamelot). Annette was the singer at that show in SLC but I, nor anyone else, had any inkling that it would turn out to be her last show with Nightwish. When I saw them in Seattle two days later it took me a few moments to realize that there was a new singer onstage....and a little while later the full story of the switch became widespread news throughout the metal world. Btw, the documentary mentioned does have English subtitles. It's a little distracting but still a great and insightful video.
I find it pretty cool that I may be one of the very few fans, if not the only fan, to have seen Annette's last show and Floor's first show (two days later and a few hundred miles away).
I recommend "Ever Dream" and for an instrumental day "Last Of The Wilds," both from this same show.
I would have given almost anything to have been at this Wacken show!
Again, CR, thank you for the reactions!
Manowar - Achilles Agony And Ectasy in Eight Parts

All must hear masterpieces
Was not prepared for the ASMR intro xD haha
You two should try check out "Nightwish - The Islander (Live At Tampere)", gives a good idea how he sounds like. :)
As a side note hear is Floor saying thank you to Seattle where she did her 1st concert after learning the set list in 48 hours, a wonderful speech that is short and to the point and why everyone in the end loves Floor (ua-cam.com/video/vhvdzaSMRvQ/v-deo.html)!!!
YES this is metal and Nightwish can play anything including "real metal" as some detractors love to toss at symphonic metal bands especially those with the Dutch Goddesses as lead vocalists (Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Delain, Vuur and Ex Libris). Another great "metal song from this concert is Ghost River (ua-cam.com/video/05eitd-EA6I/v-deo.html) and yes Floor can do it all, she even growls in some of the later songs from other performances. Romanticide is from the Once (2004) album and that is why the Wacken faithful know every word!!
This song is from the Tarja era of the band. The album is called Once. Ghost love score is from this same album.
This was 10 months after Floor started with Nightwish. Her first show was in Seattle on October 1, 2012. You don't have to end Maiden Monday, there are plenty of very heavy female fronted bands.
