OMG!!..My two favorite Activists!!..I've been waiting on this interview moment to happen!! I began to wake up from the JW's by reading about Mormons and watching videos of episodes entitled.."I was a Mormon"...Then John Dehlin's excommunication was broadcast on television. I started following him and I noticed a ton of similarities between the JW's and the Mormons. This was an eye-opener for me!! After that I got the courage to go to UA-cam and look up.. "Why do people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses faith"...that's when I really started waking up! I became obsessed listening to all ExJW stories on UA-cam and the FEAR of the "so called" apostates that we are taught to detest started to become a different reality, they are just people telling their experiences when they were an active JW and why they left..So all the stigma started to dwindle. Then I branched out and started looking into Seventh Day Adventist, Scientology, Christadelphians, The Brethren, Christian Science.. I started noticing the parallels between all the religions, and it runs deep...no questioning, no doubting and everything comes from the top down. The rank-and-file are just the followers with no personal self, no individuality. After you wake up and start seeing these things it can take a toll on you, especially if this is the only thing you have known all your life! It is really tough! The phobias and fears, can mess with a person's mind...Now I see why a lot of people resort to suicide, it is scary but the good thing is there's help!! The internet has played a big part in all of this!!.. Now I look at people as being just human beings trying to do their best, trying to deal with all the stresses and anxieties in this world. I can now honestly say that life is better on the outside! 💯

Long interview but hearing things I never heard before even after watching many Lloyd Evans programs. Fascinating look into LDS and J W. My late husband used to invite the J W in. He managed to sell the one lady a necklace. 😊 My grandson became a Mormon so I want to learn all I can.

I greatly appreciate Lloyd's education concerning JW's. My nearest neighbors are JW's who I've known for 30 years. We finally accepted their invitation to attend the annual commemoration at Easter of Christ's death. I'm not sure how they termed it. It's a meeting at which they take a count of attendance and report this number on a world scale to show themselves and the public how they're growing, even though many of those attending are non-member guests. We were not able to sit with our friends, so when the "sacrament" was passed around, I was confused enough to actually take a nibble of the wafer before I realized that I should have only looked at it and passed it on. It was actually pretty stale. Who knows how many years it had been passed around. I don't know (didn't ask) what people thought of me eating what only the elect should eat. This is a small town, so I knew many of the people present. The service consisted of readings from the Bible in a rather rote manner and I was expecting a more educational experience. When the service was finished, there was no social part. I greeted some people I already knew and everybody left. There was no attempt to engage me in a conversation of their beliefs. The history of William Miller and the period which also saw the beginnings of the Mormon Church is fascinating. Americans and Europeans are generally very ethnocentric when it comes to religion and culture. What most people are unaware of is that a similar religious expectation and excitement was experienced in Islam, especially among the Shia branch. They were also expecting a Messianic Figure to arise in the year 1260 A.H. in the Muslim calendar. This just happens to be 1844 in the Christian calendar. There are millions of people today in almost every country who believe that this expectation was actually realized. It happened on the evening of May 23, 1844, in the city of Shiraz, Persian (Iran) when a young man of 24 announced to his first believer that he was the Promised One the Muslims were expecting. Coincidently, half way around the world on May 24, 1844, Samuel Morse sent the first message by telegraph from Baltimore to Washington D.C. signaling the beginning of the age of communication at the speed of light. His message: "What hath God wrought"? This young man in Persia called himself "the Bab", which mean "Gate" and soon there were thousands who accepted Him. This alarmed the religious leaders and the government which began a campaign to eliminate this new movement. The Bab was publicly executed in 1850 at the age of 30 and 20,000 of his followers were killed. The Bab claimed that His mission was to prepare the way for a greater Prophet who later became known as Baha'u'llah. Baha'u'llah was exiled from Persia and eventually ended up as a prisoner in a Crusader's fort in Palestine, and his followers became known as Baha'is. If you travel to Haifa, Israel, you can now visit the beautiful gardens and buildings connected with the Baha'i Faith. Baha'u'llah's teachings were something new and forward thinking. Examples: Equality of women and men; recognition that science and religion are two sides of the same coin and aren't in conflict; the recognition that all the great world religions are inspired by the same God and are like chapters in the book of religion, revealing the teachings which were needed at the time they appeared; that God is beyond our capacity to understand; that the nations of the world should be united much like the 50 states of the U.S. are united; that all children should be educated; that the extremes of poverty and wealth should be eliminated; that there should be no more priesthood or clergy; that we should mention only the good qualities of people; that the human race is one family, leaves of one branch; that we should investigate reality independently. Baha'u'llah wrote over 100 volumes so that future generations would not be left with only oral traditions. For a fuller explanation you can refer to bahai.org. I first learned of this new faith in Salt Lake City many years ago and it shook me out of my agnosticism. So maybe William Miller was on to something, but his vision was too limited.
I love learning about world religions. I think people should learn about it in school as a part of the human culture as one learn history or literature or history of art. It is impossible to understand our world without understanding the role of religion in arts, literature, history and even economics and politics.

Excommunication in the Catholic Church just means not being allowed to partake in some sacraments. It does not require a judicial cometee of some sort, just being married as a Catholic and then getting a civil divorce and marry again in a secular marriage and if you are Catholic, you should know you are excommunicated. Excommunicated people are not shunned by family members or friends and it does not imply excommunicated people are going to hell.
John - Mormon Stories has been a wonderful source of information, guidance, and knowledge in my post-Mormon journey. I have watched dozens if not hundreds of episodes, but I can no longer withhold the following criticism. John, you've done over a thousand of these interviews, and it has brought you a degree of fame and prosperity, not to mention the gratitude of thousands. I don't begrudge your petitions for financial support, but is it too much to ask that you come prepared to interview your guests having done a minimum of research about them and their subject matter. I was embarrassed for you when you had to resort to reading out loud from Wikipedia during the interview about the basic origins of your guest's former religion. Did I expect you to be fully conversant about the JW's? No, of course not, but come on man, devote a little time yourself to the subject matter or have a staff member draw up an outline with notes. If it's any consolation you're not the lone ranger in this regard. I have seen Joe Rogan come unprepared to interviews as well. I don't know if you will ever see this comment, but I support you and want you to continue to succeed. Please accept my criticism in the loving spirit it is given.
It's painful to watch and Lloyd kept being interrupted and after watching a lot of Lloyd's videos. I know when he's starting to get impatient. He was definitely getting impatient with John. John needs to do his homework.
The continual interruptions were annoying and distracting. I suspect there would have been few interruptions if John had researched for an hour of two. Loved seeing Lloyd!

That’s why they are no true religion, because they know if they allow people to watch these videos who are not aposeteastic who show the experience and things real witnesses lived through and this will show to stop being jehovah witnesses because it will disprove all of their ideas. Like evolution and all of the Bible teachings that were not even written for people in the future. I think there has to be something we can do to stop their teaching or something.
We were never taught about antisemitism it was all not saying heil hitler and dying for Jehovah. Constantly studying this in the yearbooks was so terrifying.
This is so funny finishing Lloyd’s sentences. It boggles my mind that current JWs don’t know this or that anyone can fake it. I was born in absolutely devout but once I knew it was a lie I never went to another door or meeting. I just don’t understand half way anything. Yes it’s scary to leave everything and everyone you know but living a lie would be torture. Purple triangle vhs was quite heart wrenching and the yearly books sharing hideous stories of torture of people wouldn’t heil hitler was terrifying to imagine as a little. One of my most terrifying memories was a sister who had her hand placed in boiling oil because she would not heil hitler. The thought of my child living in fear like I did is inconceivable.
Growing up we never questioned being part of the 144000. It was just how it was. I knew one person brother Pete Popadopalis who was anointed. Incredibly rare.
One more comment lol when I have people I love ask me about leaving and I know they have a good heart I always suggest brother franz “crisis of conscience”. All scriptural and loving. It all blows my mind my life was absolutely shaped by this as a child. I highly suggest Rick Allan Ross for cult deprograming material but I feel there is just nothing significant for people born into a high control group. It’s a different dinamanic.

Has anyone ever wondered why the lds church is getting attack so hard ? One honestly has to think if Mormonism is not true then why all of the attacks? There are 1000s of UA-cam channels dedicated to bashing the church. This is confirmation to my heart this gospel is true. I don't see people making any other channels bashing any other religion as hard as as the lds church
You are right. The "accuser of the brethren" (Lucifer) stirs up as many hearts as he can against this religion. More then any other. All of these channels have "accusations" against the church. Some dedicating their lives to trying to discredit this faith. If it wasn't threatening Lucifer's kingdom in a big way (he is the god of this world) there wouldn't be so much energy against it.
