Watching this on the big screen back in the 70s was so memorable. Reeve the only superman in my book.
Same here
In mine as well, he was Superman, he made me believe a man could fly. He even influenced the comics.
IN the theatres when he Opened his suit and showed the S!!! THE PLACE WENT WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i STILL LOVE IT
Still get chills 40 years later.
IIC
me too
same character with my profile picture, Hank Henshaw, Cyborg-Superman.
0:21, That look at the “phone booth” always slays me.
He's looking at it like he's thinking: 'Damn, when did they start making them like that? That's hella inconvenient for me.'
Yeah but he didnt need it. He jumps out of a window, seen by no one, or runs down an ally and it magically changes on the way down...
Me too
There HAVE BEEN A LOT OF SUPER MEN OVER the YEARS BUT Christopher REEVE WAS THE BEST
Still is even tho he has passed on :)
Well…I grew up with the original George Reeves from TV. BUT!!!! Chris Reeve from the movies is hair-raising perfect.
And Austin Powers is having difficulty controlling _THE VOLUME OF HIS VOICE!!!_
No, henry cavil
Yes indeed, He's the best Superman ever...❤❤❤
That first scene with the phone booth was the best of all!
Christopher played both Clark Kent and Superman to perfection. He's my favourite ever Superman
Agreed, his acting skills were out of this world
Agreed.
He did! Reeve made a very accurate observation that we all wish we could be Superman but we all have a Clark Kent within us and that’s what he wanted to tap into as an actor
and hes bulletproof
Yes he did
"This looks like a job..for SUPERMAN!"
As a child Reeves managed to convince me that a man could fly and still remember hoping that one day i would. no other actor could come as close to Reeves
Reeve, not Reeves.
@@magicjim1a pitty he couldn’t convince you to spell his name correctly 🙄
The helicopter scene with Lois in Superman The Movie is still one of THE best scenes in modern cinema. Saw it when I was ten years old with my mom and dad at the Gaumont Cinema in Birmingham, England UK during opening week.... pestered them none stop until they gave in lol.... What a classic few years of cinema in the late 70s... Star Wars, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Alien, Superman The Movie ❤
Even the music is so great and perfect ❤
Yes it is
He made you believe that a person could change and help the world.. 😊
That famous ally change!!!! Looks like he stepped off the pages of the comics!!! He truly was Superman!!! 🎉
He was
I can still remember the olden days, when Superman's costume was bright instead of drab and Batman like, when superheroes has secret identities, and our favorite heroes never became bad guys.
So sick and tired of the drab, disillusioned, pathetic mess Hollywood Superhero movies have become. No joy, no pleasure and they don't allow us to just enjoy ourselves, preach, preach, preach---- Very much agree with you
The thing that shows just how great Reeve was in the role was that perfect transition he pulled off from naive Clark Kent to Superman and it was all in the facial expressions when Clark is about to change.
The perfect Superman ever Christopher Reeve. I'm born 1990. But for Christopher Reeve is the perfect one. His face truly superman
Muy Cierto
💪🦸♂️👨💼🧑🏫SuperChristopher
1980 1983
Hands down the best Superman. Reece paved the way for every superhero movie made after. Kudos..
who is Reece?
_"You've got me, but who's got you?"_
Coming just after the glance at the phone shows the quiet comedy in the movie
My favorite is always the window and his clothes change and he just glides in Midtown Manhattan and slides by the Building is freaking awesome.
I still get goosebumps watching this .
You got me? Who’s got you? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
‘Say Jim! That’s a bad outFIT!’ 😂
I think Reeve is the only actor to really nail the character of Superman and Clark Kent. All the other actors look like Superman wearing glasses. And he’s the only Superman to have an epic score by John Williams (which has yet to be topped).
He was the best
Fun fact for those who dont know.....Christopher reeve had to train in a gym to bulk up for the role and who was his personal trainer?.....David Prowse....yes the very same David Prowse who we all know and love as none other than the dark lord of the sith...DARTH VADER.....so in a sense "Superman" was fitness trained by "Darth Vader"
Thank goodness he didn't turn to the dark side.
😁
❤
That scene in Superman II when Reeve changes in the back alley is fucking iconic and right out of the comics - just how he changes from Clark Kent to Superman is so, so convincing!! I remember watching this in the theater as a kid and I got goose bumps - still do watching that scene. Reeve was Superman - I'm honestly convinced of it - it's like the comic book coming right onto the big screen. No one since has really been able to re-create what Reeve/Donner did with Superman - there have been some good actors since, but Reeve set the bar soooo high that he really to me was the ultimate Superman.
The first super man
George Reeves and Christopher Reeves is George Reeves son. Like father like son
Christopher Revee as master of for All The superman ok
it was Chris who gave the flight to Superman. Even George had a "bad" flight as the Kryptonian. The dorky hop out of a window was no more when Christopher took the suit. He could fly. He was as graceful in the sky as an experienced diver is in the ocean. He would bank, and turn, and dip like a glider or airplane. A thrust of his fists and it was apparent he could hurl himself faster at will. He flew, and I believed he flew. Christopher had the persona of Superman, even after the tragic horse accident that grounded him. I was pissed at the medical industry for not giving him the best of mechanical legs or a jet pack. Or both. Your naming of him as the ultimate Superman is seconded, by me.
@@cherylcroslen5177 Christopher REEVE is not related to George REEVES. They don't even have the same last name.
When Christopher Reeves was on the opal show
A guess asked him was George Reeves was his father he said yes. He said he always wanted to be super man just like his father. I this time Christopher Reeves was in a wheelchair
I remember seeing the first film in the theatre when it first came out. The brief bit of Clark Kent looking at the phone booth got HUGE laugh from the audience.
Excuse me miss, I got you. You got me. Who got you? I just loved that scene.😊
Love the phone box joke
Chris will ALWAYS be my favorite. Just the way he was able to pull off both Clark and Kal-El...man!
The music in the movies...well, prob the MOST recognizable of ANY superhero flick!
it never gets old
永遠是超人的代言人的明星
One of my favorite actors and #1 Superman!!! RIP Christopher!!
Love how he looks at the modern telephone booth back then. Still makes me laugh 😂
Truly a legend.
Yes he was
I still love how Chris goes to that phone booth, looks it over, and quickly heads towards the revolving doors to get changed, that blew the phone booth stereotype out the water
There will always only be ONE Superman....Christopher Reeves!!!!♥☺
Unforgettable ! , Mr. Christopher Reeve ❤....
Forever...SUPERMAN...😊
He was the best
My Future Husband and his roommate at USC, and I saw this epic movie 🎬 at Grumans Chinese Theater , what an experience,. The cast was brilliant,Christopher, Margo, Marlon, Gene, et al, Script, production values and Richard Donner's masterful directing, one of my top ten movies forever ❤
That's Grauman's Chinese Theater. I grew up going there in the 1950's. I first saw Superman on the TV screen with George Reeves and Noel Neill in the early 1950's. Chris Reeve and Margot Kidder will always be Superman and Lois Lane, to me. I saw this movie in 1978 at another classic old cinema, the Grand Lake in Oakland, CA. The scene where Superman first reveals himself to earthlings and saves Lois from the helicopter fiasco is one of my favorite scenes in a movie, ever. We were all thrilled and clapped. Many of us in the audience that night grew up watching the TV show and at that moment, we knew the Superman story was cast perfectly and was in good hands.
The most genius part of about the Reeve films is how John Williams just created that build up. He'd come out as Clark Kent, he would see the danger and as soon as we hear those first low notes start we start to get unglued, it tells us that we are about to see the other guy, and then as it gets closer and closer the music gets higher and faster until finally as soon as the shirt rips we hear the actual theme and it just makes you wanna jump off your chair and clap every time you see it and hear it. That is the genius of John Williams himself he did the same thing with Jaws, the build up would make you lean closer and closer to the screen and it just gives you goosebumps during that build up. For Jaws it starts of really slow and as he gets closer and closer and it lets you know what is coming. The music speeds up and gets louder and finally the full rhythm plays as he attacks. As soon as that low bass tone starts you know you're about to see Superman, you know the shark is about to attack. This was back when the composers really cared about creating the suspense, the excitement, something that I feel most films really lack today, and I don't think there will ever again be something even close to what Williams has created. They will and can certainly try to, but I personally just don't think it's possible.
He did it with star wars as well
You are right about this, the score completes the movie, keeps you engaged! Thank you! ❤💙🤎🙏🏽
I can watch this scene over and over
I have to give credit to the episode- the "Doomsday Machine" from Star Trek. This music score by Sol Kaplan was the beginning of the " Jaws Theme." Star Trek! Jaws started with you. The Enterprise was not being hunted by a shark, but a massive alien planet eater. The Doomdsay Machine was virtuall unstoppable mechanical whale and it took 2 Starships to defeat the mechanical monster. The best musical themes come from Star Trek
I didnt know William's did the soundtrack...another feather in his cap....
I miss christopher reeve he is the original superman of all time. Love superman!! ❤
Damn…you’d think the colors of the outfit are wrong but christopher reeve just makes it look so good…the best superman
Just a statement of how great actors and actresses were and how talented the filmmakers were . So much better than today's hollyweird.
They couldn't resist adding a little humor... the scene where Clark is having trouble finding a phone booth big enough to change in. 😅
Omg there has been a lot of movies made over the years, but this movie combined with the orchestra to back it up is the very best!
This scene is truly the introduction of Superman.
Chris Reeve was my Superman growing up and I still love his Superman movies. Thanks for sharing this Awesome clip.
I love Superman movies
Christopher Reeve was and is our eternal Superman, which was part of my childhood, the soundtrack is wonderful, this orchestra makes the heart beat faster, only that I watched it the first time, you know!
Christopher Reeve foi e é nosso eterno Superman, o que fez parte da minha infancia, a trilha sonora é maravilhosa, essa orquestra faz o coração badalar mais rapido, só que assistiu a primeira vez sabe!
All they really need to do is make an updated version of this Superman and it'll make everyone happy. Goofy Clark, shirt rip, John Williams theme. It's not hard.
At 0:40 Nice Special Effect on the Rolling-Door back in the Late 70's Very Good 😁😉
The first one is the best. The first one in Superman 2 is also very memorable.
The music when clark and lois look at each other and her smile so powerful
00:45 Apparently, pimpin' isn't on Superman's list of crimes that have to be stopped😆😆😆😆
シャツを胸から引きちぎって、変身するところが好き!
そして、必ず助けが必要な、期待通りの場面で現れるところも好き!あと、有名な音楽も!
Yeah. The sudden realization that phone booths aren't what they used to be.
If only Tom wore the suit in crisis
It's the classic theme and Reeve that does it for me. Grew up to him playing Superman. Too much nostalgia.
クリストファーリーブが偉大過ぎて泣けてきます。
彼はまさしくスーパーマンそのものでした。
they don't make those call boxes like they used to....LOL 😂
No one else need apply, Christopher Reeve will always be Superman.
Es una fantacia creer esos episodios bien hechos,,,
There has never been and never will be anything like the Richard Donnor/Christopher Reeves Superman films. They absolutely fucking nailed it.
It should be required that anyone making comic book into movies, should watch Superman 1 and 2.
Reeve, not Reeves.
@@selenaphillips6971 I read somewhere that whenever Kevin Feige hires a new director, he makes them sit down with him and watch the first Superman film.
...
He Strong And Tough
Awesome collection
RIP Christopher Reeve. You will always be Superman to me❤❤❤❤
I always loved how he took off when he would fly it looked so smooth
Eternity Bgm , Ost , Superman Mr. Christopher Reeve R.i.P(rest in peace)
The late actor Christopher Reeve. The perfect Superman. RIP.
Tu resteras à toujours mon super man
The alleyway change is marvellous till today
2:34 The BEST transformation of all. He is not just running but looks like about to lift off...
Chris Reeves is/was ah respected actor &kool badass superman!!!
Smallville Superman, always my favorite❤
De todos os Superman, o primeiro foi o melhor 👏👏👏
George Reeves was the first Superman.
Except Superman was a black and white tv show.
Christopher Reeve (different last name, no relation) was the first movie Superman and I agree with you. He is my favorite too.
I was just talking to my husband about Christopher Reeve tonight and he had this video queued up here (I’m on his account right now). I told him I was wondering how it was for Mr. Reeve to suffer such a sudden tragedy.
Must’ve taken a lot of strength.
-Mrs. Henderson
Nadie puede superman a Christopher Reeve sin importar cuanto lo internet y todos lo saben , todos lo han hecho increible pero Christopher Reeve nunca actuo, el era Superman en todo el sentido.
You missed the changing scene in the photo booth during the opening credits of Superman III.
@@TheKingOfGames_YT not necessarily a bad thing though
And the one in the photo booth. 4 pix for $1. Showing him taking off glasses, then opening shirt then standing there as Superman.
Superman ll I think
@@markcadieux3445 The photo booth changing scene is from Superman III.
Superman 3 after the fight with evil Superman is the best.
Best Superman and Clark Kent EVER.
2:03 is raw til this day. That's the slickest costume change ever.
Christopfer Best supermann ever
El mejor Superman
SuperHomao
back in the day when we never questioned film effects...
No-one can play superman as good d Christopher reeve RIP
O ator do super man dos anos 80 e 90 ele era sem igual perfeito herói,os outros eram quebra galho 😂😂😂😅.
Le tout premier supèrman le plus beau sur la terre
Used to go around the block with a red towel on my back. That's how much I believed that a man can fly. What a dude. I was 7.
I just realized that he slows down before catching Lois from falling from the helicopter. You can see when he catches her, the background is still going down.
Sem dúvidas nenhuma ainda o melhor ator de Superman.
"i've got you. whos got you?" nice...
The godfather of all supermen!
The superman theme is fucking majestic.
Christopher Revee
I agree he is the best Superman yo this day
Best superman ever
After comparing all of them, I liked the "Superman Returns" effects the best.
Awesome Christopher was the only Superman that refused to wear fake pads under his suite. He trained at a gym...😮
Lol..The window jump..all they did was stop rolling..add a the top with a cape..but keep his suit pants on..then place another sequence with the whole superman outfit on..lol..I noticed this as a child when it came out..but I still thought the scene was extremely cool..and in the alley scene (superman 2)..the lady in the pink top..must have been a person that didn't know they were filming a movie..looks at Chris curious on why he ran into the alley..
Love the telephone booth gag.
George and Chris are my two favorite Superman of the films hands down.
Christopher Reeve always!!! May God rest his soul
The music represents his “call to action!” He can transfer to his supersuit so fast the eye cannot follow. Ergo the seemingly instant change to costume.
