- A re-edit of the 777 sequence in Superman Returns. (It mistakenly says 747 in the titles of my edit)
I felt it was such an important part of the movie, it being the first time people had seen the Man of Steel for over 20 years, that I wanted to turn my disapointment of it around and do it my way. I wanted it to feel more like the old films with the late, great Christopher Reeve by focusing more on Superman himself and adding the music from the original movie. Some of the cuts arn't perfect, but I worked with what I had. Thanks for watching! - Фільми й анімація
The sequence of the action cut short and went well with different tones of music that sets the viewers to a suspense, drama and action mode which felt exciting and victorious in the end. Always love to watch Superman heroics blend into John William's music composition.
Thanks for understanding what had actually been done here! I spend a lot of time convincing people to go back and see the original scene so they can see the difference as most people just say "it's the same." Thanks again and for commenting!
John William's Superman Theme is and will always be the BEST superhero theme of all.

JESUS! I remember when this movie came out, I was in absolute awe, after waiting so many years for a Superman movie…this was amazing. I couldn’t care less what the haters say.
Probably the single best Superman scene ever filmed.
George Reeves, Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh were all brilliant in their portrayal of Superman. This film was treated very unfairly by the critics. I think Routh was able to capture the spirit of Chris Reeve's comedic timing brilliantly. I also think that using the John Williams source music was a clever thing to do. Later iterations suffered because they did not have such an epic score.
I agree. Also ditching 3 and 4 and making this a sequel to the Donner films was great

Apparently you have already forgotten that his name was Christopher REEVE not Reeves. George Reeves played Superman in the 1950's on TV and in a single movie.
Brandon Routh absolutely nailed his performance as Superman. Kevin Spacey was a great Luthor. I was really happy to see Brandon bring his Superman back in the Arrowverse crossover.
Importantly he got Clark right too, staying true to the beloved character so well established by Christopher Reeve.

This is an amazing scene because for some of the young kids at the stadium, they have never seen Superman in action. And being that it was the baseball game, then his rescue was captured on TV also.

I teared up a bit when he exited the plane. This scene captured some magic from the Reeves era. Having said that, this movie was not very good. It killed the franchise yet again until "Man of Steel," which still wasn't that great. I guess I was spoiled by Superman 1978. Hollywood has yet to get it right like that regarding Superman.

All due respect to the Great Christopher Rreeve, the one who can never be duplicated, My Superman is Brandon Routh. I was 27 years old in 2006 and saw it opening night with my Brother. If at the end of a movie, if me and my brother looked at each other at the same time and nodded, then the film was good, we did just that after we watched Superman Returns
Christopher Reeve's wife was consulted by the producer and director of Superman returns and was brought onto the set to oversee production. She commented on more than one occasion that Brandon looked like a young Chris.
The way it still should be. I thought this young man did an admirable job in the role and he deserved a second shot to make the sequel. He emulated Reeve in his portrayal and that’s the way it should stay. You can keep all this new dark modern nonsense and shove it. Superman is a hero who should uplift you and not make you depressed and moody. Long live Christopher Reeve! The greatest superman ever. And thank you Brandon Routh for doing a wonderful job channeling Reeve in this film.

There's a great deal of evidence that Superman is the same as the Returns one, just years later.
I liked him as superman and with the sound track from the 70s/80s placed over it, that's just awesome.
Brandon's look and costume reminds me so much of Christopher Reeves portrayal. This was very well edited video! Thanks for sharing.

For those that might have been paying attention. The bartender in the scene where Clark sees the accident is happening is none other than the original Jimmy Olsen from the George Reeves Superman series.

They did something similar in the first movie. When Clark was racing the train, the two parents with the child watching him run was supposed to be a young Lois Lane and her parents were actors who appeared in the TV series.

I only found out a couple of years ago about them two actors. It hit me like a train hearing that, what a brilliant touch and for all those years, I never knew.

John Williams just makes every movie scene better. And I can’t believe he originally wrote this score over 40 years ago.
I enjoyed Superman Returns, even with it's flaws. The one thing I enjoyed the most, is how Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey put obvious effort into getting the mannerisms, and quirks of Christopher Reeves and Gene Hackman into their performances. That was a great way to honor those before them, and fans of the original movies.
The flying sequences were the best since Chris Reeve's.
I'm not a fan of how Henry's Superman is always having him whooshing everytime he flies..

Spacey's role was wayyy over the top and a very poor Lex Luther. Routh was bland and lacked personality and charisma.

All the critics (fan & professional) that know nothing but how to hate.
I like this movie.... for many reasons....it was not mostly base about fighting....it was about saving lives and that is what super man does most.....I like to see lives get save.... for what I see Brandon Roth belongs in that suit.... somewhere along the way....he is the perfect image of super man and young Christopher Reeves.....so please give him back a super man role... even in a series or future movies.....his time is not yet over.... and we the whole world knows it.

They were paying tribute to Christopher with that, as well as the close up and smile in Earth orbit.
DC movies and TV shows are good at that.
Examples:
Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder guest starring in "Smallville."
Helen Slater and Dean Cain guest starring in "Supergirl."
Various TV show characters of the past putting in cameos in Arrowverse's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" (Robin, Huntress, the 90's Flash, Lucifer, Clark and Lois from "Smallville"). (I still hate that "Crisis on Infinite Earths" hasn't been released on DVD for American players yet!)
@@jimgilbert9984 In Man of Steel, they also paid tribute to Christopher Reeve when Henry's Superman is directly below the beam from the world engine right before he flies up and through it. His face essentially morphs to look like Christopher Reeve. Everyone that has played Superman has done a great job and portrayed him to what the writers provided, but I'd say Christopher Reeve has charisma the others lacked. Brendon did a great job, but he essentially just tried to copy Christopher Reeve's mannerisms, which worked great in some scenes and looked a bit to forced in others. Still liked the film. This airplane scene along with when he lifts half the ship and then holds it in mid air with one hand were my favorites. Tack on the John William's score and they get you in the feels...

Do you know how Christopher audtioned for the Superman role?
He was a skinny guy, so he wore a big, bulky sweater to look like he had to build to play Superman.
After he got the part, he worked out like crazy to build up his muscles.
Wow! Adding the John Williams score to those scenes made them look allot better!! Amazing!

I highly enjoyed it when I saw it and didn't have a problem with it at the time. The plane sequence is awesome. Watching it years later, the most trouble I had with it was that he lifted a continent made out of kryptonite or I think he did, whish doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Rest of the movie is just fine.
I love this movie didn't have any main issues with. Recently when I watch it last, I cringe at the Kevin Spacey's scenes. However that is the only issue that I have with that movie, is that Spacey is in the movie.

Thank you. It's been clear to me from the comments that people have very different views of the character and many are unaware of what I was trying to do here but I'm so glad that so many others like yourself share the classic version of Superman.
I really enjoyed "Superman Returns" it was never a disappointment to me, as a matter of fact in my opinion I believe it ranks up there among one of the very best. Too bad the driving forces behind this one, did not give Brandon Routh another chance as the Man of Steel.
John Lee I for one would love to see Routh back as Superman! Like everyone else in this film (perhaps with the exception of Bosworth as Lois) the casting was spot on. There was so much good in this film, unlike the devisive newer ones being made now.
I enjoyed the movie, watched it a few times and enjoyed it even more as I caught on more details. But I am also disappointed because, having watched it several times like that, the major plot points were basically the first Superman movie, rehashed. That took away a few stars from enjoyment of the movie but still a good one.
I completely agree. The cast was great in this film. Except for Lois. The story was good. It deserved a sequel.

The Use of the music in this scene, opens soft, comes on strong in the middle, and the perfect fulfillment at the end
I watched this and aside from the blurriness I thought to myself, "isn't this originally how it was? What was changed?" After reading the description all I can say is this edit is perfect. Spot on.
He is the only one who can play that role next to Christopher Reeve! Give him that role again! He deserves to be SUPERMAN!❤

So true. The trailer actually did a slightly better job than the movie itself with Supes approaching the plane. The Air Traffic Control cut scene should have been done better, more shock or fear on their faces. They did a good job showing him catch back up to the fuselage after the wing broke. THAT part and the catch were nicely done. But the approach needed something more. He had been gone for 5 years. Something was just missing.

Thank you for fixing this scene. It is short sweet and has a very nostalgic feel to it and I feel that a lot of people would have reacted differently if it was made this way.

Superman was always dropping some knowledge at the end of whatever he was doing. I'm upset they took that out of the movies. He always had these witty one liners.

Because of this I rewatched the whole film and I can say with conviction that the musical score made a whole lot of difference to this one scene.
Love the musical score when he finally stops it... Then the action reaction force effect causes the plane to vibrate... Then he gently let's it dwn... That beat is glorious!!!!!?

Brandon rough is the strongest Superman we’ve seen in a movie. He’s also my favorite Superman of all time. He embedded the character better than anyone in my opinion. This movie is just phenomenal

I totally agree. The Henry Cavill Superman theme was lacklustre in my opinion. It would have been better if they got the John Williams theme.
