Superman (also known as Superman: The Movie) is a 1978 superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Richard Donner directed the film, which stars Christopher Reeve as Superman, as well as Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando, Glenn Ford and Ned Beatty.
The film depicts the origin of Superman, from infancy as Kal-El of Krypton and growing up in Smallville. Disguised as reporter Clark Kent, he adopts a mild mannered attitude in Metropolis and develops a romance with Lois Lane, while battling against the villainous Lex Luthor.

Damn right. Christopher Reeves will ALWAYS be Superman!

Dude, I'm 35 in a few weeks and I started to tear up remembering watching this with my grandfather. It's how I was introduced to Superman. Thank you.

Yes! I also remember the first time seeing this movie at a neighbor's house. There were 6 of us neighborhood kids. Each of us came with a parent, older sibling, aunt/uncle. That was the only house with a colored television and VCR, as they were called then in 1981. Understand that it's a rural town in backward country in Central Asia. You could all imagine the wonder and how we youngsters marveled at it all. Golden times! RIP Christopher Reeve.

35?
42?
Ahh... the good 'ol days.
Isn’t it amazing how Alberta hasn’t changed in 42 years?
Still beautiful.
I was 5 years old as i got my first comic book and it was Superman. Believe it or not i learned to read by myself because i wanted to know what they were talking about in this comic book. This Superman movie was the first movie i have ever seen in a cinema as well. I was there with my parents. It was the only time i went to the cinema with them (long story) and it is one of my best memories of my childhood. Beside this i went through a lot of hard times as a kid and as a teenager as well but (beside someone else you surely know) Superman was always a torch of hope to myself, reminding me that if you believe and you are taking your fate in your hands better times will come. It was always Supermans character himself not his superpowers which made him to me a hero. The famous "S" on his chest stood truly as a symbol of hope to me and it still does. I wish for the kids nowadays that they made a similar experience like i did. All the best to you who ever read this.
This was my favorite so far, long live Christopher Reeve, he set the standard for Superman so high that I don't think anybody has been able to match it.
@RAJA SHAID NAWAZ GUAPO??? ESA PALABRA QUEDA DEMASIDO PEQUEÑO. CHRISTOPHER REEVE TIENE UNO DE LOS MEJORES ROSTROS QUE SE HAYA PODIDO VER EN EL CINE Y EN EL MUNDO. ROSTRO QUE CUALQUIER HOMBRE QUISIERA TENER, CHRISTOPHER REEVE ES TODO UN TIPAZO. NUNCA MAS HABRÁ OTRO CHRISTOPHER REEVE.
100% legend
Rip margot kidder and christopher reeve 😔
A piece of good old fashion magic of a movie that still lives on to this day
There have been a few actors to fly the red cape, but Christopher Reeves will always be my favorite Super Man. I was a 10 year old boy when Superman hit the theaters. I did believe a man could fly. R.I.P. Christopher Reeves. All us Superman fans miss you!!!
"This is no Fantasy" These are the first words Marlon Brando says at the beginning of Superman 1978 and these real world locations brought us from a Comic Fantasy into a Real World . As an 8 year old I got to see Superman when it first came out in 1978 . Christopher Reeve truly made me believe a man could fly.
I had an hour or so to spare this past weekend, so I drove to the farm about 45 minutes away from my home. I'm not sure if there has been an issue with souvenir hunters, but the farmyard now has filled with dense caragana-type trees which makes viewing the yard from the road difficult. The barn is noticeably leaning now. That film meant alot to me growing up and still means alot to me today, albeit for different regions. I love these views of Alberta, and when I pass the King Eddie it always makes me giggle to know thats where Superman got shitfaced that one time. Great video, thanks for sharing!
I think Christopher Reeve as Superman very look handsome, when i watch this movies in 1988 when i was 6 years old. And still remember until now in 2023.Very beautiful memories❤
@ 6:18--6:38 Everytime i watch Superman that scene always gets me , Reminds me of my Mother, So thankful She's still alive. @ 15:12--15:17 "Remember Son, Always Remember" Wow................
A fantastic film.Seeing the locations was very cool.So much nostalgia. The Best Superman period!
What an absolutely magnificent filming location video of my favorite movie of all time. There will never be another superman in my honest opinion. Christopher reeve is was and always will be the one and only best Superman. Thank you for this wonderful trip down memory lane.
Nice touch with the addition at 11:17 (“You’ve got me? Who’s got YOU?”)

The helicopter hanging off the top of the skyscraper was at Pinewood film studios. A short distance away was a large half model of the Golden Gate Bridge with a model school bus still on it, as was the helicopter still on the roof, I saw when a friend who worked in special effects ( in the film credits) took me around one day after the film had been made and the sets were still there.
This gave me chills and goosebumps! The score by John Williams is really immortal. And the locations are nothing short of sacred for fans of this masterpiece on film! Thank you for sharing this.

I live on Earth and did not know that some of it was filmed here. WOW! mind blown
on behalf of us fans of superman christopher reeves thank you for sharing your time and effort in creating and showing parts of were superman was filmed.
This is absolute GOLD! I was ten in 1978 when I watched in the best theater in town. I'm from Edmonton, Alberta and proud that is was partly shot in my home province. Christopher Reeves will always be Superman to me. Not just because he acted in the movie but the way he always carried himself off screen. Despite his paralyzing injury he persevered and gave hope to others. This is so well done Herve and my respects to you and your team for sharing this to all Superman fans like myself. Cheers!
Greetings from Spain... I love superman movie.... I was born In 1978...always was my really favorite movie..
From I was a child.. Greetings Canadá I guess could a be a very beauty place for can visiting SOMEDAY greetings from Sevilla south of spain
Wrong
Years ago I had the privilege of seeing Christopher Reeves in person at a Zig Ziglar motivational conference in Columbus Ohio. He was in a wheel chair and on a artificial breathing machine. His family was with him for support. He struggled to breathe. He gave a great speech. It was a great honor. A few months later he passed. Now he flies in Heaven with the angels. The best Superman ever. He is missed. :(
As much as other Superman films make this the Cristopher Reeve will always be the best by plot and creativity
I grew up watching superman I was 10 yrs old but the day he died I was very sad but I'll never stop watching superman
The part where he says goodbye to his Mum never fails to put a tear in my eye. The music, the farm, the wheat field. Classic!!
No question, one of the best scenes in the movie.
Also no question this was the BEST Superman movie of all time. Warmth, charm, heart and humor.
@@TomTimeTraveler They got it right with this one. This is a classic.

That part/location was shoot in Alberta, Canada.
*9:00** Christopher Reeve looks like a painting, so perfect face. Thanks for make us believe a man can fly*
Up to these days, we still miss Christopher Reeve.
Mr.Reeve is & always the greatest Superman ever
Christopher Reeve played the best Superman 🦸♂️.
My Super- Hero...one and only Mr. Christopher Reeve... The Original..actor. We still miss up to this day...💖💖💖
Only one superman of all time Christopher Reeves himself🙌 grew up watching this guy
Yes absolutely I agree
Couldn't agree more 👍
R.I.P to both Christopher Reeves(1952-2004) and Margot Kidder(1948-2018) they were a gorgeous couple in the Superman movies.
*Reeve
I bet this is for Christopher Reeve. Always.
Jordan Carrington best superman by far
True. For me too, just one Superman Christopher Reeve, blessings 👐
Holy cow that was awesome! And on top of the awesome video I learned I lived in Lois Lanes apartment building at 240 Central Park South in 2006/7 ! When I lived there I even visited some of the Superman landmarks and little did I know I was in one! Thanks.
Holy cow! You lucky guy! Did you find Lois' panties?
Great video Bravo sir 👍
O-M-G....this brought me to tears. Thank you Herve Attia! Absolutely beautiful!
Wow...it's October 2018 and I'm still visiting for I dunno how many times since 2013.
You did great job the locations , locations, locations. Giving me goosebumps each time when Superman’s themes
WOW.., Christopher Reeves is a true legend.. and always will be..! He'd made me believed in the Commic Books Supper Man in my up bringing back in Hawaii. CL of 78.
Christopher Reeves is the only true Superman. There will never be one like him again RIP.

Oh I hope someone buys up the farmhouse and restores it! Gr8 video! I remember seeing this back in 1978, as I was only born in 1975 I remember Superman flying after the rockets, my mum says not many 3 years olds are as good, but with a movie like Superman, I really thought a man could fly :)
You guys went to a lot of trouble with locations and camera angles. Superb
Incredible video
Brilliant video...brought a tear to my eye
Still the definitive Superman movie to this day.
What an awesome piece of work this is! Well done to you buddy. Gave me goosebumps at times. I love the fact that the farm locations are all still there, just as they were in 1978! Amazing!
Loved this. Thank you.
This was great. I love seeing old movie locations. This move was so good and the soundtrack is iconic. Man of Steel sucks so bad compared to this film. Special effects may have improved but dialogue sound quality and scoring has gone down over the years.
I like the original and Man of Steel. The one I thought was a waste of time was Superman Returns.
Both movies are great. One is a celebration, one is a love letter
@@thenoirknight5729 Yes well seen it's a good way to see things, however for me the superman (christopher reeves) is always and remains that of the comic, and the music of john williams sublimates him so much further in the magic of the hero of krypton,.borrowing from humanity, compassion and so many other qualities, there is something universal lost since then, and which is lacking in our time in many super heroes I think, but maybe I'm wrong ☺
@@creationfantastique 👍. *Christopher Reeve! The actor for Superman in Superman and the Mole Men (1951) and Adventures of Superman (1952 - 1958), George Reeves, is the one with the "s" at the end of Reeve. I would say that there are still, and have been, live action media super-heroes that show compassion, have humanity, and all those other positive quality things.
Excellent job! You really get a sense of exactly where scenes were filmed. Amazing how some locations are almost unchanged after 35 years.
Fantastic job! I just watched the movie again today; I would pay a lot of $ to go back to 1978 just to watch the people reaction in the cinema when Superman rescues Lois for the first time.
Fantastic work brother
So awesome. Still the greatest Superhero movie EVER! Awesome to go back to those great locations. Great work.
I would say this Score from John Williams is his best beside STAR WARS EP.4 /CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
Yeah man I agree there is only one Superman. And his name is Christopher Reeve. R.I.P.
He was Superman in real life.
I can always accept new james bonds. But not new superman
well , christopher is flying around with robin williams up
in the sky now , may they both rest in peace .

No doubt, man.
Best location video EVER! Well done! : )
Amazing video. Always been a huge fan of the movie but just found this today. Seeing those rural Canadian buildings still intact after 35 years is amazing. The back alleyway was another great find.
what a great job!! amazing to see how these locations havent changed that much
Yes very mch
Amazing
WOW... An amazing tribute and location guide to one of the best Superhero movies of all time!!!
This was my first movie I ever seen by myself at 12 yrs old, and opening day I can remember this like it was yesterday.. Thanks for this💁♂️🥂
Hey, I was 13! Saw it with a friend and we stayed for the second showing and didn't get caught lol
I can't get ANYTHING done thanks to you. GREAT VIDS!
There should be a huge Statue of Chris Reeve as Superman next to the Statue of Liberty in NY.
Unh-huh, and a huge statue of Rocky Balboa in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art . . .
And a huge statue of Freddie Mercury in Picadilly Circus
I would love to visit there are one day
Christopher Reeves will always be the best actor as Superman. Old skool
OMG! Herve! You created a (cineastic) timemachine!! Btw:The soundtrack by John Williams is,for me, the greatest in film-history!
The sound on this movie was classic
Woawww !! Amazing
nice work!
Thanks for posting this. Nice to see that the farm has not changed much.
This is easily the best then and now location upload on you tube, the editing between the two was so on point!!
Yes,there's only one Superman his name is Mr.Reeve,no question about it.I miss him alot.I've never loved a actor like him and I believe millions of people feel the same.I wish you're still around.R.I.P.
This movie is over 40 years old now, and is still the best superhero movie ever made.
Agreed, it has more heart and sense of wonder than any of the ones made since. Spider-Man 2 is the only one that's even in the ballpark.
BRASIL!!!!!!
This is the first movie I saw in theatre when I was 7yrs old and I was blown away by the special effects
You missed Star wars a new hope 😞
Brando never figured out how to say Krypton. To him it was always Kriptin. Lol. Great vid btw
To-may-to / To-mah-to. Bri-tish / Bri-ish. People here on Earth pronounce things differently, so why should it be any different on Krypton? Since his character was actually from Krypton, he can pronounce it any way he chooses. He's Superman's dad. Did you ever think he's pronouncing it right and you and the Earthlings are pronouncing it wrong?
I cried, so much wonderful memories of superman alias Christopher reeve, you're are the best superman 🙏❤️and so wonderful these locations to see today 👍😘good work sir
Excelente!!!
Those words at the end.... very inspiring! I came from child abuse and poverty, to where I am now.... still in poverty, so to speak... but through faith in Jesus, who is the real superhero, who gave his life on a cross for me, I'm coming out of poverty... and some would say, "the sky's the limit!" But I plan on going beyond that!
I think Harve is wasting his talent with this. He should be directing blockbuster films with this talent. The camera locations are incredibly precise.
I totally agree, these shorts are way better than a lot of movies I've seen.
Wow this hits the feels.... Thank you for making this!
Amazing. It's almost like some effort goes into maintaining these locations because they were in a movie.
Great job !!!!!
Your filming and editing skills are unbelievable
This is the best location video I have ever seen
Thank you
You are a star
Outstanding video. The attention to detail on this one is just extraordinary. As a huge fan of both the Man of Steel and the Chris Reeve movies depicting him, thank you so much for filming this.
That was so excellent that you were able to track down those sites You are indeed a "Superman" for going to that effort ! I loved Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Superman ! I remember when I was working (in the projection room as an assistant projectionist) at the Capitol Theater (Designed by Walter Burley Griffin) in Melbourne around 1980 where we showed Superman The Movie for around 10 months ! It looked awesome on our Big Screen ! Thank you for bringing back so many memories for me :)
The amount of work (and money invested ) to give us this 15min reel of pleasure is phenomenal! Thank you sir!❤
Ps:: The Superman t-shirt scenes were hilarious 🤣
and he found the right weather too. superdedicated,i'm impressed. it's strange that they don't build some sort of museum, but maybe the movies are too old in peoples memories
This was beautifully done; thank you to Herve and his entire team. Thank you
I've known of the locations in Alberta ever since the movie came out...I live north of Calgary , but relatively close to the farm and Barrons. It was big news back then. Today the farm is well watched to keep souvenir hunters at bay. Only special permission from the land owner can get you in.
Just watched this movie the other night felt like having a throw back movie night still love the classics though..
Crazy thinking about it now. When I was a kid racing friends in the 50 yard dash at school. I would think I was running fast like teenage Clark. I wasn't the fastest kid, but I always thought I was. Now 51, I enjoy sprinting as fast as I can. Makes me feel like a kid again.
Thank you so much!
You obviously love this classic film.
As lovingly edited as the original. The scene with Martha and Clark in the wheat field is one of my favorite.
Luckily I've visited some of the same NY scenes at the exact spots. People looked at me curiously, as I put my hands together in the shape of a camera frame and panned (this was before smartphone cameras).
this is so good
I just saw the high school two weeks ago. It was so cool to see it in person.
I literally live an hour away from the homestead and still have to visit that yet. Can't wait.
Jacke chan
Awesome video thanks for taking the time to do this
I never noticed until now that the soundtrack was almost identical to Star Was.
Not just the Main theme but even the background music
Thank you! For bringing my childhood back I needed this!
just wow. everything in this video is gold
Bravo! Just the best filming location video I've seen in years.
