- We're hitting that peak time of the year for game announcements and as of right now PlayStation has still been silent about any Showcase plans. With an empty looking back half of 2024 so far and plenty of rumors surrounding a PS5 Pro, there's plenty that could potentially show up at one whether it happens in a week or a month, so let's talk about the chances of a PlayStation Summer Showcase, and what we could see at one.

I want them to drop Ghost Of Tsushima 2 the same date as Assassins Creed Shadows. Not because I care. Just for the lol.

i wouldn’t. i’ve had a ps5 for 3 years (stupid purchase decision on my behalf i know) and a total of 1 game that i needed a ps5 to play that i’m interested in have come out. we need more ps5 games first

Survival Horror making a comeback with Calisto Protocol, Alone in the Dark & Silent Hill 2. Hopefully we get a Resident Evil 1 or Code Veronica or even 0.
Naughty Dog didn't say their next game is "early" as you said.
They've been working on it for atleast 2-3 years already (along side factions) and even remake which was made by a tiny part of the studio.
The only thing they have that is "very early" is Part 3 which will be after their next game (a new IP)

I don’t get how their next game couldn’t be TLoU part 3 because that would mean we wouldn’t see it for probably another decade at the very least which would put a huge hiatus on the show. Something tells me Sony might be making them put their other project on the back burner until part 3 is completed. It’s all about money at the end of the day
@@jacobross735 Neil has already said in the making of TLOU2 documentary that there will be atleast 1 more The Last of Us game coming but we also know that their next game is VERY likely a new IP.
I would expect Part 3 in 2028-29 and the new IP in 2025 (if lucky) or most likely 2026.

Games take atleast 7 years to develop now at the bare minimum(especially a ND game) we won’t see their next project until the tail end of this gen atleast and very well might not see it until the next gen of consoles launch. You gotta remember ND just wasted years of development time and resources on the cancelled factions project. This game is not that far along and probably still in pre production. To think it would release next year or the year after is very unrealistic lol
@@jacobross735 It all depends. Also factions was just 1 of their projects in development and they've been working on the singleplayer game since atleast late 2021.
Naughty Dog is a 2-3 game at a time studio now (same as Remedy which are very small in comparison)

Do we really need more PlayStation hardware? Is the PlayStation really at a point that it needs another upgrade mid generation? Come on now this is ridiculous. They feel like they just want to sell consoles and not games anymore.
Yes. Mid gen refreshes are great. They give those who haven't upgraded yet an even better product. And it let's those who want the extra power, get it. Those who want to remain, can. It's the definition of a win win.
@@jesse1086 It split the hardware base, which is the number one advantage of console compare to PC. The PS5 is already the PS4 pro pro (most studios already have to test and optimize their games for three Playstation platforms today), no need for more.

I think there will be a smaller show in the next couple weeks and a larger show around September to help build hype for the ps5 pro and games next year. Smaller show focusing on games in the next 12 months, like Concord, Fair Games, metal gear solid 3 remake, silent hill 2, Ghost 2, Venom, Phantom Blade Zero, Lost Soul Aside, and partner games. Big showcase in September focusing on Cory Barlog's new IP at Santa Monica, BluePoint's game, Wolverine, Death Stranding 2, Horizon spin-off game, Project Awakening, and partner games.

I have hopes that this upcoming PlayStation Showcase is going to be good; especially since PlayStation has been very quiet for too long.
I worry that we're probably going to see A LOT of PS5 'remasters' of existing PS4 games (includes PS4 remaster games) like God of War (2018), Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. I think it's reasonable to expect some DLC for some AAA titles.
Maybe we'll finally get a PS5 Slim price cut, the rumored PS5 Pro, and also the rumored new PS handheld.
Maybe we'll see new Dual Sense Edge colors?
I don't have a PS5 yet so any new games & DLC will be nice.
I'm hoping for some silksong news in the next playstation event 🙏
Yeah, Spider-Man 2 was a really great game and would love some DLC for it! Other than that I don't really know what to expect. Except for the PS5 Pro that are supposed to be released in like November this year so it would be time for Sony to announce it now in "E3 times" so to speak.
Will I be able to play PS5 games on PS5 Pro normally? And if I expect signifacant changes I will have to wait for patches from developers?
It be nice to see a Syphon filter reboot for ps5 or a remake of the original titles 🌟

I think Sony and Nintendo should just end their rivalry and create a Mega Super console hybrid that also have VR capabilities like Pimax-esque that will blew Steamdeck and Rog Ally out of the gate but wishful thinking

I'm still waiting on actual games on the PlayStation..... like a sequel to Astro's Playroom, Ape Escape, Parappa the Rappa, Viv Rhythem, Jak & Daxter, you know games that aren't the same depressing Movie that is apparently a game but is bland because it's "Dark" and "Gritty"

@@KevinKenson Not gonna lie,I REALLY miss the PlayStation of old. I remember the excitement the PS2 brought me ...and that just isn't there anymore for me these days. Still is with Nintendo largely,not so much with Xbox or PlayStation.

If Steam comes to Xbox in the future I will pretty much have no desire to buy a PlayStation. I can buy everything they released for PS4 + PS5 and I have Game Pass. I prefer the Xbox controller, my friends are here, I'm more invested into the Xbox ecosystem.

I like The Last of Us, Ragnorok, Returnal, Final Fantasy 7, Stellar Blade, & Hellblade 2, & because i like Hellblade 2, i get this console warrior fanboy flak. A lot of these guys arent gamers & it shows.
