After going through some of the comments, I see that some people don't realize what differentiates raw honey from processed honey, and that is why so many people are saying that they add their raw unfiltered honey to hot tea or coffee, raw unfiltered honey means that it's not heated to the point where most of the beneficial properties of the honey are destroyed, so when you take your raw honey and put it in your very hot coffee or tea, your honey is not raw honey anymore, and it loses most of the amazing benefits that honey naturally has, unless you drink your hot beverages at a temperature of 140° or less, for reference water boils at a temperature of 212°, and the average temperature of a Starbucks hot beverage is about 160 degrees.

I kept bees when I lived on a small family ranchette in Thousand Oaks, CA. I learned the “Keeping” from a good friend. The local fire department let me know when swarms were reported and I collected them. The area I lived in had a small river/stream and grass lands. Some times the honey was wild flower and sometimes it was from the poison oak pollen. Both were delicious. The comb on the hive panels were separated with a hot knife and then run through a centrifuge. I never processed the raw honey in any way, it was just poured into Mason Jars and stored at room temperature. I also collected the bee pollen collected from the bees by a narrow screen as they entered the hive. Both the honey and the pollen are good for your health in moderation. It was a great and tasty hobby that helped feed my young family. Bees are quite “tame” as long as you obey their rules. Rule #1 - never mow the grass close to the hive on a hot summer day! They fly faster than you can run! Rule #2 - always wear “White” protective garments and a screened hat with gloves, tape the pants to the top of your boots and your gloves to your cuffs. Bees can get into any opening if agitated. A good friend of mine learned the hard way by wearing a dark grey/black outfit one day and was attacked and had to retreat. Rule #3 - Always work with bees when it is cool in the morning or evening and use a smoker, they react to the smoke as a threat and quickly consume some honey which in turn makes them docile.

Great video... If you type in 'Local bee keepers' you will find a supply which is a little cheaper than supermarkets ~ a big HOWEVER will 100% raw honey without added sugar and has not been filtered. To keep it from crystalising keep in fridge. If it does crystalise slowly give it heat over a few days to make it runny again. Bee keepers do this to stop it changing it's properties. Do not imerse in boiling water. Natural honey has an indefinate life and has been found in ancient Egyptian tombs many imes which is still edible! It has to remain in a sealed jary though.
Have used local honey purchased from beekeepers for years and if I very rarely get a cold it is very mild. Also have had very few sore throats. Have a full tea spoon every day poured over porridge with a bananna and blueberries, all super foods.

Chapter 16, titled 'The Bee,' in Quran says "And thy Lord revealed unto the bee, “Take up dwellings among the mountains and the trees and among that which they build. Then eat of every kind of fruit, and follow the ways of your Lord made easy.” A drink of diverse hues comes forth from their bellies wherein there is healing for mankind. Truly in that is a sign for a people who reflect."
