Matt when I watched the vid about starter clutch problems I almost changed my mind on purchasing a GS. After seeing just how easy it is to DIY with proper tools, all fears have relieved. Great instructional video. Thank You Sir.
I've been informed by a knowledgeable friend that the design of this starter clutch with that flimsy 'garter spring' is very similar to that used on some Rotax motorcycle engines and is equally as fragile. Great video, very informative, thanks, keep them coming.
The flywheel puller is M30 x 1.0. the BMW puller is not in the states or germany as BMW dealers said. Just get another one using the measurements i provided. Also, to reiterate, "custom" cover guide pins are m6x1.0 100mm. You can also use a long allen key (m9) as a TDC locating pin. Although you CAN still order the locating pin (110 515) for $20 pick up, or $35 shipped from BMW.
Hi Matt Although I didn't encounter any problem yet with the stater clutch of my G310 GS, I liked to watch this video, as the others… I suggest, not to forget the "stopper" / locating pin on the right side, to attach the key to the orange strap. Thanks for your videos !

I'm writing to you hoping you can help me, yesterday my g310r did not mark the speed changes well, I put the pedal in "N" and it seemed to be in "1 gear", I raised the pedal to "6 gear" and the dashboard marked " 5 gear "and for" N "he should mark" - "on the board. I left it like that to review it the next day calmly and the triangle warning light with an exclamation mark lit up on the dashboard and in "gears" it only shows "-" and does not turn on. I have been Googling to find a source for the special BMW service tools - but with no luck. Do you have any recommendation (preferably a link!) on where I can buy them?
