How to adjust the valves on a bmw g310r. In this video I go over the valve inspection as well as how to adjust the valves. Gaskets: parts.mortonsbmw.com/cart.aspx
Hi Thank you for this video. This video, like all your other videos, helps me servicing my bike. For me, I own a G310GS. Many thanks and best wishes from germany/OWL
I've done the valve check on the old 650 Rotax motor - really quite easy. This, i'm sorry, I'm not going to attempt this, this looks like a fine small motor and I'll let the pros handle it. I do appreciate finally finding a video of the top end of this newly designed motor.
Absolutely love these videos! I was wondering if you could do one for the brakes, from replacing the rotors, pads, and doing a flush on the g310r. Thanks!
Достаточно грамотно делаешь. Кстати, там есть отверстие справа на двигателе (заглушено болтом), через него можно зафиксировать коленвал от нежелательных проворотов во время регулировки.
Hai sir IAM from South India your video is very useful to my TVs Apache rr310 cam chain tensaner I have don't know about that before seeing your video 😉 and I don a good job in my 310 in my shop tanks a lot.and also I need full feting engine video from you plz
Hello, thank you for this wonderful video, I followed you step by step, but after removing the cam shafts I got the crank moved, so how to set it back to its position?
Hello. I have one of these bikes and I’m currently struggling to get it started. My clutch was burnt out so I swapped it out and put the bike back together. I tried starting the bike but it wouldn’t start but it did try cranking over and gave good spark. I then noticed the bike was pushing air out of the throttle body instead of sucking air in and the exhaust was doing the complete opposite as well, taking air in but not pushing it out. I then realized I probably messed up the timing when I swapped out the clutch so I went back down there and watched this video to give me a solid idea of where I went wrong. I was able to tune the timing and got everything to line up like in the video. Once I tried to start the bike I didn’t even get a spark nor did it try cranking over like before so now I’m confused on where I went wrong?? Fuses are good and I’m getting some good clicks in all solenoids. Tank and air box are currently disconnected but the bike was cranking over fine without them before I gunned the timing.
Hi Matt, thnx for sharing many helpful informations about BMW gs310. May I request to pls help me find your video about how to reinstall detached slide roller timing chain BMW310GS. This is because the dowell pins were unintentionally detached when the clutch cover was removed. I think this is also has something to do with hydraulic tensioner. Thank you very much.
Hello, notice that my 310gs overnight did not want to turn the board on but it does not start and I checked the gear, the alternators, the fuse, and everything is fine, could you help me? regards
Hey! I really need a specification on the shim size to know what shim kit to buy online. What is the diameter of the shims that I should buy? I would greatly appreciate the info!
Hi Matt, I mess the timing valves while changing clutch plate, after follow your video, I start the engine, it not started, and some voice and white smoke come from air filter, do you have any idea what's going on?
now, it's a bit late but why you torque them to 25 Nm since the manual says 15 Nm? You said 18-20 lbs. A bit worried for this because can damage the threads in the cyl head if done multiple time.. what do you think?
@Matt; can you please confirm the valve shims are 8.80mm in diameter? Also, for clarity, you mention (@15:42) to "be careful not to change the crankshaft" when moving the timing chain. This seems like a person would need to pull on the timing chain quite hard to move the crankshaft? Any other advice? Lastly, and mostly unrelated....have you changed any of your bikes to iridium plugs? Thoughts?
Hey Matt. Good video. Can you shoot another one explaining why the 310's engine makes such a mechanical noise comparing to other brands like Honda and Yamaha? It´s a BMW characteristic? Why? Best regards from Brazil.
Matt, that video was fantastic, I thank you so much for your time , patience and knowledge. If I were to find I did need to change the shims would you, if you had the time to be anal, measure and set each valve at the loose end of the spec anticipating the valves will tighten over time due to wear.
Yes definitely go to the looser end of the spec. The valves will stay in spec longer if you do it that way. Thanks for checking out the video glad it was helpful!!
Anybody know know and could please tell me briefly how to set the base timing on the G310R? Is it TDC with the cams IN and EX level with the top of the head? Or something else?
Watcharapol Namjaidee I will put together a chain adjustment video on the g310r it should be similar. The only difference would be the actual measurement
giuseppe I personally would go by the service intervals recommended by BMW. If there is a noise and you’re unsure of what it is I would ask your local dealer what they think the noise could be
@@MattsMotoWoRX at 327 km I change the engine on warranty... On the new engine I have 200 km and I still feel the noise.. Not much like before, But if I make us case I feel it, but it is almost imperceptible
