Here’s what I come to realize. When the Panthers in 03 played against the AFC South, they got the chance to make a drive to the SB. Which that year, that’s what happened. But ended up losing by 2. Then in 2015, went 15-1 but got decked in the SB. It’s like some type of luck charm we got
So a microcosm of Manning's time with the Colts, especially when his critics are talking about the playoffs: 1. Defense can't get off the field. 2. Players dropping passes and fumbling everywhere. 3. Special teams can't tackle. 4. Horrible officiating. 5. Game goes to OT and Manning never gets the ball. 6. Manning gets put in situations he never should be in, but takes the blame for all of it if he isn't perfect. He was the greatest QB of all-time.

Reggie Wayne Marvin Harrison were Peyton Manning's two best receivers he thrown to and Jake Delhomme had Steve Smith Sr. and the '03 Panthers should've won Super Bowl 38💯🏈🏉
Manning: Freeney, Mathis Brady: Ty law, Willie Mcginist, Bruschi, Malloy, Wilfork, Seymore, Rodney Harrison, Asante Samuel, Mike Vrabel Indianapolis had the softest defense when Peyton was there
Story of their careers, Peyton in New England would've been all sorts of trouble supported by the consistent top 10 defenses that Belichick produced from 2001 onward.
I was a big Manning fan and a Colts fan big time. One thing I noticed with these colts team is if they would score a td first they'd typically win fairly easily. If either team scored a field goal the whole game would be close and if the other team scored the 1st td the colts were almost certain to loose. this is a prime example.
I miss having a power back like Stephen Davis 😭😭😭😭...Also it's crazy how soft the game has gotten in almost 20 years these dude were laying into one another
Stephen Davis was such a underrated back in his prime ever since his college days at Auburn going to Washington and came to the panthers and rejuvenated his career around this time and was a truck!
Almost forgot how frustrating it was watching the colts fail again and again try to convert short yardage 1st downs by running up the middle never gaining a yard
As a patriot fan this panther team was a hell of a whole lot harder to beat than this colt team. Colts were soft that year and if you ask The pats who played the panthers in the super bowl that year they would tell you that it was one of the hardest hitting games they played in.
Still can't believe Jake Delhomme led a team to the Super Bowl lol. What a weird season. Do you have the Ravens vs Browns matchup from 2015 (MNF game, Will Hill block FG) by chance?
This game might've ended in a tie if it were played 10 years later or now in 2019 because under the old OT rules, whoever scored first in OT, FG or TD, won the game. After 2009, even if the team that wins the coin toss first and gets the ball and kicks a FG like Carolina did here would have to allow Indy to have possession to match it and considering how that Colts offense was in the middle stages of becoming one of the most high-octane, explosive offenses in NFL history, the Greatest Show on Turf II, with Peyton Manning at the helm, I have a strong sense the Colts would've drove the field and scored at very least a FG, most likely a TD. If Colts would've responded with a FG after Kasay gives Carolina the initial lead, I can't see there being enough time for Panthers to push a quick drive to kick another game-winning FG. A better, more displined, defense who emphasized more effective tackling would not have allowed so many missed or broken tackles I saw from Colts LB's, DB's, D-linemen, who had great position and excellent angles to tackle Steve Smith or Deshaun Foster for losses on runs or preventing extra gains after receptions. The effort was there most times, but their overall technique was subpar at best and pathetic at worst.
Our defense was always our biggest problem. We never had great front 7 work. Not great linebackers and no notable CBs to speak of. We only had 2 shining spots. Freeney and Mathis, the best DE duo ever in my opinion LOL, and Bob Sanders, one of the best safeties ever when he could stay healthy. As proof of that, the first year he DID stay healthy, 2006, he won DPOY and we won the SB 💯
