      The game was really won by the Colts' special teams that gave Manning a super short field when it was 35-14, and then recovered the onside kick at 35-21. Without those two plays, there' just wouldn't have been enough time for a comeback

    • @sStyleMo
      @sStyleMo 2 роки тому +5

      @@dirtybirdambrose True, but you still have to give Manning credit for actually scoring the touchdowns. Even with special teams help he still needed 3 TD's in 5 minutes, and it took them 55 minutes just to get 2. And he got awful field position for the last touchdown and the overtime drive that got the field goal. He definitely had some good luck, but it wouldn't have mattered if any of the touchdown drives stalled out on 4th down.

    Some people don't know the history here, but Tony Dungy (during this game head coach of the colts) was previously head coach of Tampa Bay and turned a franchise that had 13 consecutive losing seasons into a franchise that had more wins than loses for 6 consecutive years with multiple playoff appearances. However the owner of the Bucs was not satisfied as Tampa had not yet won a superbowl and fired Tony Dungy in 2002 (Dungy stated he just needed time to put all of the pieces together). Which was the first time a head coach with a winning record was ever forced out of that franchise. Then, the very next year a new head coach won the superbowl with the team that dungy built (The head coach was Jon Gruden, who you see in the video). There is a huge debate if the superbowl win was due to the head coach change or the team did in fact just need more time to find their rhythm in the post season (as Dungy stated). While Tampa Bay only made 2 additional playoff appearances during the new head coaches tenure, the colts became a national brand and Dungy surpassed Don Shula with more franchise win than any other head coach.

    TN came back from down 27-13 w/3min left to win at MIA
    It will be the 5th time since 2000 that a team has accomplished that feat & 1st done in regulation

  • @untexan

    The onside kick at 35-21 never hit the ground. That’s what used to make it legal for the kicking team to go down and blast everyone out of the way and recover that kind of onside kick. Should have been a 15-yard penalty on the Colts, the Bucs get the ball, and this comeback never happens.

    • @nicholas.alan85

      No. It went past ten yards. It was fine

    • @untexan
      @untexan 2 роки тому +2

      It doesn’t matter how far the ball went. The ball still has to hit the ground on a kickoff before you can hit someone trying to catch it. It’s the same as a punt. You can’t run down and light up the returner before he can catch the ball.

      Yeah. It was historic in another way as well. These teams went in opposite directions after this game: The Bucs fell into a hole that they didn't get out of until Brady showed up, the Colts mid-late 2000s run where they were contending every year started with this comeback.

    I’m here because KeShawn Johnson mentioned it on his show.
    That’s an insane comeback, but the “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” penalty in the OT field goal was bogus and it should’ve been Tampa ball.

    Peyton Manning had the best facial expressions, I could usually tell how he was feeling just by the look in his eyes. There was that look of defeat he’d get after an AFC title game loss to the Patriots or after Super Bowl 48. But 12:25 wasn’t that look, he was PISSED, and that’s the last thing opposing defenses would ever want to see, because that meant he was about to go off.
