Any suggestions on how to remove light scratches and swirl marks ? Like only noticeable in particular lighting an angles. Long story short wiped down parts of the car with microfibre cloth that was wet ( so was the area ) then wiped it down with a dry one. Any suggestions?

Really good idea this. Especially as a little nailpolish size, colourmatched bottle of paint is only around 10 bucks aswell. So 20 or 25 bucks all in, you can keep up with any little imperfections or scratched for years. Awesome.

This video is absolutely brilliant! I’ve been polishing out the families car scratches out for 40 odd years and I’ve learnt something new today! (I’ve never tried using my finger tip before, so thanks for sharing mate!) ☝️
Bloody brilliant! Did my Dad's old Range Rover where someone had keyed it, along with various minor scrapes. Used some touch up paint from Halfords, and now repair looks practically invisible. Thanks for sharing your technique!
I tried this technique on my 1995 Ford Mustang. It's metallic red and had a large number of minor scratches on the passenger door. I used Testors model paint and the results were very good. Of course it didn't remove the scratches, but I would say it looks 95% better. And the paint only cost $3.25.
This is exactly the kind of youtube guide you're after... not a half hour of nonsense, just a few minutes telling you exactly what you need to do to save yourself 300 quid. Cheers for putting this up.
I tried this on my sisters burnt orange peugeot as the scratches round the drivers door handle were really bad and what a result. You can't see them at all now! I can't thank you enough for the tip !! !! !!
Great vids, what about when you do this on a car door and it’s on the fold line just above the handle? The cutting paste (forcela) seems to pull the touch up paint back off ?

You just answered questions I didn't even know I had AND saved me a bunch of money on a new (used) car purchase... THANKS!!!!
Have to admit was hesitant applying finger paint (code matched) to the 5 year old Amarok I just bought. Worked like a charm on the scratched tail gate. Fantastic video.
That worked surprisingly well, not that I ever doubted you! In my case, I hand compounded away the extra paint, with not much effort. If I had advice for anyone doing this for the first time, it would be to use just the lightest dab of paint. Less paint, as long as it fills the scratch, means less buffing.
not everyone has the dollars for the paint shop these days, your good deed will be appreciated by many, what you tube was intended for unlike a lot of tubers for profit channels.
I've done exactly this for many years with about the same 90 % results. I've just retired a GMC van after 22 Canadian winters and I've often had people stop me to ask if I've had the vehicle repainted. Fill the ditch with paint and buff off the thin excess on the flat surfaces.
Great video and great idea, better than what I have been doing for years. For the punters out there: the buffing *might* remove some of the new paint out of the scratches, hence the need to go back again as in the video. With some care and patience though it's obvious you can acheive a fantastic result relatively easily. Thank you for the video!! You're right, we love it :)
I've got a fairly bad scuff in the middle of a panel and was about to pay over £500 to have the whole panel repainted. To be honest, I'm a bit worried about the matching to adjacent panels. Having seen this, I think it's worth having a go first. If the scratch is too bad and it doesn't work, I won't be worse off. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for great information and not dragging it out. OMG the people getting into that poor car must be blind and holding a big fist of keys or rocks when trying to locate the door handle.

I am so glad this was not a long video because I became so invested in watching it I forgot that I had put my dinner in the oven, the timing was perfect, also a great video, definitely going to try this, thanks
Just a word of warning. This works perfectly on convex surfaces. On concave surfaces be very much more careful of the pressuer you apply because the outer rim of the polishing pad is in contact with the surfaces and can easily wear through the paint leaving a much bigger repair to do. Ask me how I know 😂
Amazing, I've never heard of this method before and it's incredible how quickly you get those results. OK it's not perfect, but it's a million times better than I'd have thought it would be! Will definitely be trying this on my MX-5 that has a few dings, cheers.
❤ Great method thank you very much. I tried it with meguiar's ultimate compound and a drill. The deep scratches don't go away with this compound. But combined with the touchup pain, it does fill them up nicely so you can't see them from a distance. Much better than the white scratches on my dark metallic paint I had before.
Excellent video! I've followed your advice and have tackled over a dozen scratches now, like you said it's never going to be 100% but if it can make it 80-90% better by diy at home then that's a big win. Keep up the good work buddy!
Quick and easy fix. You could improve it even more with bit of wet sanding to level out, but this is great for a quick fix and would satisfy 90% of car owners
Much appreciated.... Im showing a friends car roof some love, that is scratched fairly bad in places. Great video and i have the basic tools for the job .
Having just spent the past couple of weeks learning on the go how to fill & paint deep scratches on a friend’s car, I’m pretty blown away by this. Their car is a silver metallic Hyundai & so has loads of holographic glitter bits in the paint, so after filling the deepest scratches with putty (down to plastic on the bumper - use a putty that you mix up a bit at a time or your whole tin will harden while you’re still filling in the first few scratches 😫), I’ve been using a bit of torn up sponge to dab the custom-mixed acrylic paint with hardener on. It’s a great way to get the sparkly bits to stick. It’s a bit darker than the original though as the original paint has faded a bit, so trying to hide it totally is really hard, so this wiping method might work better. (Only cost $28 Aus for the paint). Will definitely try this for the shallow scratches. One issue though is that apparently you can’t expect the paint to stick for long over wax - you have to clean & wet sand with a fine sandpaper a bit (I’ve been using 1200 grit) or use a wax & grease remover to allow the paint to grab between coats. So better to clean/sand, wipe on paint, allow to dry, wet sand until smooth, reapply as needed, then do a gloss topcoat (another $20 ish plus make sure you mask off the rest of the car & windows!) & wax or just wax if you’re not too fussy about longevity. Without the UV gloss topcoat, the paint you added will darken over time. But this method will definitely pretty up the area & is an easy top-up for not much money so depends on what results you want. Roll on the self-fixing paint is all I can say!
This does work but it works much better if you thoroughly clean the area with a suitable solvent before you apply the paint. That way you remove all the polish and cleaning products that might be embedded in the scratches.
Just seen this! almost same colour 1 series BMW - I had about a 6-inch scratch on passenger door, 15 minutes later.. vanished! perfect job, thank you for video.
Excellent video, actually learnt this trick many years ago, in an American body shop, in Ft Lauderdale, when my holiday rental car got scratched, by cat's jumping on bonnet, didn't get noticed on check in, so no deposit retained. Done it on my own vehicles since, the only colour i didn't get great results using this technique was silver, I'll add once finished i then polish with one of those colour match polishes
Mate..brilliant..I've done the same on my bike tank after watching this..and it's worked a treat. Thanks so much. I've just subscribed and hit the bell. Thanks again!!!
That is pretty awesome. Didn't expect it to be honest. Personally, if I try it, I think I'll put some clear coat over it. It'll last longer like this IMO.

Wow dude just like magic. This way I will finish up my red Elantra next week. I follow up different ways with the touch up and Era Paints and always get a little lump with those touch up stick's if I know this first I will finish it long time ago. Exact match sometimes is not the same. My car is Red Scarlet but the Paint Runs Red-PR And Red-PR2. And is little darker but I watching videos here I learn to Mix the base coat with 4 to 5 Drops of Clear coat and the color came up little clear and almost perfect. Practice First in Cardboard with toothpicks until u get the same match👌. By the Way Great video Dude Thanks 👍👍👍
I had this problem and used electronic spray to clean both front doors. Local Ford dealer replaced switches in each but the dinging continued; they were stumped. I went to Aberdeen Midas for safety evaluation and in the process the Tec, “Jake” found the rear passenger door was not latching at the bottom. With cleaning and lubrication the latch worked, the door ajar warning was resolved and the damn dinging stopped😀👍 Thank you Jake.
I believe it's worth saying what kind of paint you use. I for example mix base and hardener, someone adds clear coat too, some people use single stage etc
"Too many UA-cam videos talk too long so I'm going to get straight into it." There's a sub, right there. I used to do a bit of detailing. Wish someone had shown me this back then.
Thanks for a great video. In some of your other videos you are also wet sanding to remove a scratch (along with paintgear paint), whilst in others, you are applying the paint without sanding first. Could you please clarify when sanding is or isn't needed? Thanks!
Thanks for these type of videos it's appreciated and this is something I'm going to try on a bumper that slightly brushed against a metal fence leaving a few little scratches. I already have the touch up kit polisher etc but this is the method I'll now try first. Thanks again
By jingo! - this works a treat - just saved myself several hundred pounds on a respray - it’s not perfect, but on a 12 yr old 120k mile car it’s done the job perfectly!
Strange enough i was thinking of trying something like this tonight, so good to have it confirmed that it actually works, wondering now about paint chips on the bonnet
What you have done looks amazing! I just don't know how close in color the paint needs to be. I am so tempted to try just a small amount to see what happens. I will update you. Thanks!

Thank you for not adding 5 minutes of babble before actually getting to the point of the video....MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!
That's what this channel is all about mate. No nonsense edutainment and saving people £££
I believe it's worth saying what kind of paint you use. I for example mix base and hardener, someone adds clear coat too, some people use single stage etc
My thoughts exactly… indication/link to paint used?
Solvent basecoat touch up paint
"Too many UA-cam videos talk too long so I'm going to get straight into it." There's a sub, right there.
I used to do a bit of detailing. Wish someone had shown me this back then.
Thanks for a great video. In some of your other videos you are also wet sanding to remove a scratch (along with paintgear paint), whilst in others, you are applying the paint without sanding first. Could you please clarify when sanding is or isn't needed? Thanks!
With rub and buff method I don't sand 1st
I have not made up my mind as to whether you are brilliant or amazing. I would have to say both! Thank You So Much!
Hey man Thanks for the sub
What an amazing job. I'm going to try this. Top job 👍👍
Good look nigel
Good video.
Too many UA-cam channels DO talk too long and I'm not here for a conversation simulator. LIKED & SUBSCRIBED!!!
Thanks for the sub

Awesome mate great stuff
Thanks for these type of videos it's appreciated and this is something I'm going to try on a bumper that slightly brushed against a metal fence leaving a few little scratches. I already have the touch up kit polisher etc but this is the method I'll now try first. Thanks again
Glad you find them of use
So happy you put up this video! Have a similar repair to do and was expecting to have to try to use a toothpick or something similar. Many thenks.
Great. Be sure to check out similar videos on different methods in my playlists

Awesome welcome aboard
By jingo! - this works a treat - just saved myself several hundred pounds on a respray - it’s not perfect, but on a 12 yr old 120k mile car it’s done the job perfectly!
awesome, good news
That’s awesome!Thank you so much for sharing your work!
No problem thanks for watching
Great tip! I can see why the color doesn't have to be exact, most is polished off. I will try this.
Glad it was helpful!
This guy is brilliant👍👏

@@cvrpov what is the product name? Where to buy?
Strange enough i was thinking of trying something like this tonight, so good to have it confirmed that it actually works, wondering now about paint chips on the bonnet
I've done some other videos on paint chips and road rash. Check out the playlist
Great job. As always. Learn a lot
Thanks Radek
What you have done looks amazing! I just don't know how close in color the paint needs to be. I am so tempted to try just a small amount to see what happens. I will update you. Thanks!
Stunning results thanks for sharing!
Thankyou
Just can't find it in the USA. The website doesn't exist
Nicely done brother 👍 thanks for your sincerity. I stay on top of my car. Especially driving in NY. Touch up made simple 👏👏👏
