  • Machine polishing is known as the “art of detailing.” A skilled detailer can restore paintwork by removing scratches, swirl marks, and defects from clear coat paintwork. Using a machine polisher takes many hours of training and years of practice to master the art. Today in the Detail Garage, Nick restores the shine and reflection of this Hyundai Sonata. In this video, Nick covers the full process on how to remove swirl marks, scratches and scuffs from paintwork using a dual-action polisher and restore the shine. Enjoy the video!

    You guys have literally made me truly appreciate the paint on my m packaged bmw . After your videos I am all about detailing ! I’ve been on your website and ive been trying to find out how i can take my car to you guys to have the paint corrected by you personally, maybe even use my car for a video . I recently had my car re painted and the auto body shop was paid a lot of money, i feel like they cut corners with my paint job or finish.. i just dont have the eyes of a professional to really know, but to me, it doesn’t look right. I took it back and after watching your videos i felt like it needed a wet sand compound buff. I feel like they never did it, just re buffed the car. Is that a normal practice after a new paint job ? Thanks for everything so far! Keep the videos up!

      @@ericsands1 a V36 mask is just that, a mask; it will come off over time - the only true way to get rid of scratches (if theyre not incredibly deep) is by buffing them out completely to the next layer of paint with a buffer like he used near the end of the video (or by a re-paint job, but 90% of the time, minimal scratches can be buffed out and isnt worth the hundreds of dollars for a repaint)

      Hi! In this video, Nick used V36 to remove the scratches on the side of the Hyundai. Black Light is a glaze that will fill in minor swirls and scratches, but polishing is the only thing that is going actually remove the scratches. While V36 and a microfiber pad worked on this car, there is no knowing exactly what combination of pad and product will work best on your vehicle. We recommend picking up the whole V Line series sample kit, which I have also linked to you below. Thanks for watching and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload!

I understand that applying it will help to protect it from the elements but how much will it camoflauge the missing paint?? White Light is a premium gloss enhancer and sealant in one. Use White Light to add tons of extra deep wet shine, fill minor swirls and scratches, and clean minor stains and imperfections. Use White Light after a clay bar service, but before applying any sealant or wax coat for extra gloss and deep wet shine. Click the link below to read more! • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  5 років тому

      Hi Duan Dao, you always want to be careful when working with pinstripes. If your pinstripes are under the clearcoat, then you can clay and polish the car as usual. However if the stripes are on top of the clearcoat, then we suggest either taping them off or simply avoiding that area. Thanks for watching, Duan, and thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!

    Just a little warning if your car has been ceramic coated it makes it near impossible to get out light scratches with polishing compounds as the coating is so hard they have little effect on the scratch, that's a downside of coatings they don't tell you about, if anyone has any ideas as to what I could do to remove them please let me know.

    • @ChemicalGuys

      Hey! Machine polishing with a compound such as V34 or even V32 will remove ceramic coatings.

      Hey there! Yes, you can use a machine polisher to remove the imperfections from the paint. Before you do, make sure to wash and clay bar the paint before doing so.

    I have a dodge challenger and it's curvy all over and I can't get the pad to move when I got to my hood and parts on my trunk. Do I get another machine or just hand polish??

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  5 років тому +1

      Hi Brett, sounds like you're putting too much pressure on the machine. With a Dual Action polisher, you only want to add about 5 pounds of pressure, which is the same as resting one of your hands on top of the polisher. If you put too much weight on a dual action polisher, it will stop spinning at full speed. With a dual action polisher, you can go at a nice slow pace. Thanks for watching, Ben, and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload!

      Better to machine polish to fully or partially remove scratches. I accidentally hit a twig which left a long scratch on the side of the car. Luckily after a machine polish it was gone. At the right angle and lighting it was very faint but luckily it's really hard to see.

    I have a polisher and Ive never used a MicroFiber pad. MF pads make me nervous but im sure they have their place in detailing. Can you tell me why you would use a MF pad vs a foam pad???

    • @yourboieejake
      @yourboieejake 5 років тому +4

      MF pads are usually used for compounding which is being done here. They will leave slight micro scratches on the paint, while a foam pad will finish out better without those smaller scratches. Typically you compound with micro fiber and polish with foam.

I put money into this car and I want to sell it for winter. My cousin's husband, who also does auto body, wants to screw me and do the whole side of the car! There's nothing like family screwing you over. I decided, "Screw it, I'll do it myself." There's three little scratches and it's black, like almost any video has. Thanks for the tips.
