    Just happened across the JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof yesterday and then found this video last night. Watched the video again this morning and decided banana pancakes sounded good for breakfast (don’t judge 😬). Blended some and the wife and I love it. Need a new decanter asap!

    Totally agree that The Bourbon Van is terrific! I've been looking for a KC 120, and I think I finally have a lead on one. I hope it's still around when I get to the store. Been looking for a New Riff, but I've never seen it down here.

      Is KC120 hard to find in your market, Bo? Or is there a specific pick you're after? With Beam's distribution we figured Knob Creek single barrels were likely everywhere (at least the standard single barrel 120 proof option).

    Great review, thanks for posting it. The Woodford Reserve Double Oaked has become a favorite of mine. I have tried the Woodford Reserve Wheat, and I liked it enough that I’ve killed the bottle(!). I agree with y’all’s evaluations of it: good but not exceptional, with the wheat spice and rye spice able to be tasted but overall just bland and gently good (if that makes sense). Technically a wheat whiskey, at 52% wheat, 20% corn, 20% rye and the rest malt barley, it’s really a four-grain whiskey, and some might like to try it for that reason. I also recently tried the Barrell Seagrass finished Rye, and I like it though the proof is strong and I need to add a bit of water. Y’all keep up the great work!

  • @drgallup

    Your blend sounds very interesting, think I have all three. No need to mix complete bottles, think I'll start with a few ounces of each. Big fan of Barrell Craft Spirits. I got 16 different expressions. They are all good but Seagrass is really something special. Bought one & loved it so got another for a family visit - killed it. Have 2 more backups.

    • @stuffandwhiskey
      @stuffandwhiskey  3 роки тому

      We're starting to amass more Barrell products than any other brand ourselves. And we 100% agree--definitely start with a few ounces of each first before mixing full bottles. We did a 6 oz blend at first (2 oz of each) and tried it at one month increments. As it continued to impress us month after month, we decided to go all in on the big blend.

    • @stuffandwhiskey

      We may have to try that Weller/ECBP blend. Our biggest issue with Weller, especially the Full Proof bottles we've tried, is the weak finish and lack of darker flavors. Sadly I think I got "the Rona" as my taste and smell is significantly diminished. I LOVE Woodford's double oaked. I totally get the "banana" note. Whiskey of the year for me is GlenAllachie 12 which is perhaps the richest whiskey I've ever tasted and I can get it in my market for $53. Runner up is Glencadam 10 which is about as close to a white wine as you can get in a whiskey. If you proofed it down, I would have a hard time distinguishing between it and a strong wine. In my market I can nab a bottle for $40 which is incredible. Both bottles are non-chill filtered, natural color and 46% ABV.
    As for cologne, I only wear the best - Hai Karate, English Leather, Stetson, Brut 33 or Drakkar Noir. I kid, I kid.

      Equal parts is the only way we've tried it, and we find that it really comes alive as it sits and mingles for a few months. You two are adorable, not only the best, most down to earth, regular reviews on Bourbon & Stuff (Hence the name I guess) but I now have a Bourbon recipe to try and to put in an old family decanter I was given many years ago,...Thank-you! I've been wanting to try anything from Barrel Craft after several reviews I've seen, it's pricey up here with the Seagrass retailing at $160.00 and batch 30 tipping a grand sum of $182.99 so those may have to wait unless you know someone I could sell a spleen or a kidney to? Not mine, of course. Now as for feminine fragrances, I really don't think anyone has surpassed Coco Chanel's "Chanel #5". Yes it's pricey, yes it's bourgeois but it's almost damn perfect as whatever magical potions she used to develop it manages to smell beautiful on all women and oddly it manages to smell different but complimentary to a person's body chemistry. Happy 2022 to you both and I hope you're having a much warmer day than I'm having! It's currently -22C so roughly -8F? with a wind that just slices right into anywhere your skin is exposed. It is supposed to warm up considerably later in the week to about 0C or 32F and I can't wait!!
