I know it's just a joke, but I do hope one day we have factorio in 3d. still 3rd person perspective, just with 3d models instead of sprites, and the ability to pan/rotate the camera. Regardless, great work.
The models are already 3d, just prerendered, and the forced third person perspective makes map view more seamless with regular gameplay in my opinion. That's not even mentioning the lower graphical requirements as a result.
